did you make it? I’ve completed the game in 2 days and now I’m thinking about nuzlocking it. Would be hard cause I’ve never nuzlocked an hack rom before, but I’m confident I can make it with less than 10 attempts

Hey Drxx, been using your level cap guide as I've been running the game on twitch! I, like many people consistently lose my runs either to Cheren or pre-Cheren and its nice to see more opinions on the encounters available! I know this doesn't include the Hoenn leaders in the discussion, but I think that Roxanne included Oshawott is far and away the best starter. Also I think Hoppip and Psyduck are in general too low for their utility, if you equip exp share on Hoppip before Cheren you can get it to 16 where it gets Prankster Sleep Powder around halfway through the battle which can save your run if Cheren isn't going so well! You've earned a sub on this one, may have to put out my own tier list!
Good points. Also with hoenn gym leaders included I think tepig might actually be the best because of wattson. Simisage is of the few pokemon that can beat the lead pikachu and pignite can kill 3-4 pokemon with little risk
Really enjoying all your redux work Drew, but I have to vouch for my guy venonat! Gets compoundeyes sleep powder, acid spray + psybeam meaning he can basically 1v1 half of Roxie's gym! Also clears those pesky spikes. Put some respect on my guy!

Smoochom is easily the best encounter for Roxie, can legit sweep the entire time outside of Whirlipede that Pignite and Dewott counters completely
While I'm not Nuzlocking, Staravia for Cheren's Gym was an absolute beast, with the Muscle Band I'm pretty sure it two or three shot everything, meanwhile Cheren would spend at least one turn setting up Work Up
I had a sap sipper Blitzle, and after switching in on Ivysaur, he swept the rest of Roxi's team since the AI is a bit dumb. It was unreal.
Picking snivy isn’t bad if you manage to get a flying or fire type early. Having bate for poison and bug moves is pretty useful. I lucked out with litwick, pawniard, and arbok though to be fair.

Hey don’t sleep on Hoppip it was super useful for my early game, especially after I got the evo.
I've actually been using Tepig, Pansage, and then Squirtle in Virbank as my guaranteed Fire/Water/Grass core to pretty great effect. Wartortle gets rapid spin for both Roxie and Burgh, and Leech Seed into a Shell Armor mon is pretty busted, especially if you can weave in Intimidate support. And early Mirror Coat with Shell Armor is just a free kill on sooo many special attackers. Just got through Reversal mountain and even if I wipe, I don't see any reason not to use that trio moving forward.

I'd put Bagon in S-tier, definitely above Starly. Getting Moxie boost is absolutely busted in this game. Salamence can actually solo the elite 4 and champion given he comes in on the right pokemon.
I was able to nab quite a few kills on Cheren with Tyrogue using Fake Out, then Rock Smash when they went for Work Up, getting the defense drop, and then using Mach Punch to kill them.
Starly is only S if you get Intimidate!
How can you put venonat in F tier? Compound eyes sleep powder and stun spore carried me through early game
hoppip in f tier is honestly insane
its the best first route encounter you can get
they buffed its spatk to make it actually do damage and it gets prankster cotton gaurd synthetis and sleep powder
getting that encounter can turn a whole run around
slugma is also really good
macargo can get solid rock witch helps the survivability of that pokemon
its really good for early game and can hard counter many mons mid and even late game
the buffed stats are also really good
rest of the tier list seems pretty fine though

I've finished the game a few days earliers and I used staraptor on my team and let me tell you one simple thing : it hit like a truck even when it is resisted it is always going to do a lot of damage. I paired it with arcanine (both having intimidate) and a rain dish gastrodon. These 3 combined are almost unkillable. The rest of my team was salamence with moxie, analytic magnezone and contrary serperior. The last two weren't really great but they did their job well enough for me to enjoy the game.

Yo I got a sentret and that thing is crack. I think I can solo half the game with this thing. Its naughty with technican with silk scarf. What more can I ask for
playing with a level cap of 15 changes the tier list completly, bidoof and sentret get an automatic s tier, because they just sweep cheren and roxie with setup moves, yawn work up/curse bibarel on trubish, furyswipes technician furret sweeps cheren
Furret dominates early game lol. Then it becomes an HM slave
well, if you play with a level cap of 99 all pokemon become insane. that's a stupid take.
As a snivy fan my heart hurts. But gosh darn it I want that end game beast. Time to reset again lol

I used a Cubone/Marowak named Nugget he carried for gyms 2 - 4 and 6. I sadly put him in the box for better pokemon but i stull respect him and may bring him back if i want to

I was reruning my non nuzlocke runs for 3 times now because i build team for Samurott. But the team is not that great. Good Dark type is soooooo freakin late in this game. I want to use Lucario since i pick Emboar but i can't use Bisharp since it's overlap with Lucario. I want to use Krookodile after pick Oshawott but man Krookodile is sooooo fragile. And Elesa really have big counter to it. So then this is my team for my third run. Hope it will do great :

I know Luxray is available as it get Dark typing now. But i was used Luxray during my Sacred Gold and Renegade playthrough, so i need new members for my team
A moderately high attack Carvanha can sometimes sweep through most of Cheren!

i feel like Magby's placement is too harsh. It's certainly not great, but it has good attacking stats for the early game and some nice utility with vital spirit and clear smog

Yeah I totally forgot about swinub. It seems pretty decent maybe not amazing for 2nd and 3rd gym but solid around

I've only ever seen technician, so keep at it
You need to do an updated version. 1. Cheren's lvl cap is now 14, and some of the mons you face are different.

Oshawott loses it's shell armour ability when it evolves into swampert. the more you know
he is so broken that evolves into a different line

Hoppip is way underatted if it survives till the brawly fight, it learns Acrobatics and can sweep him

Prankster Jumpluff with Sleep Powder was amazing. I used Corsola and Jumpluff as my defense core, surprisingly.

I don't feel Venonat deserves to be in F tier, it's been a lifesaver so far in my playthrough. Even when I'm not using it for just sleep powder it deals some good damage,

The egg in Floccessy Ranch can yield a Litwick. It's definitely the best option, too.

as someone currently playing through redux, spending hours looking for a decent nature on every good encounter possible I can say that unless youre doing a nuzlocke then bagon is a must catch. it completely sweeps the first 3 gyms other than burgs levanny, mid game until it can evolve into salamence its pretty trash because you could have gabite at that point. another must catch is an adaptability beedrill, it gets early poison tail and bug bite plus its attack and special defense are downright op until clay

Why are none of the Pokémon that appear in shaking grass listed in your tier list? Also a bunch of other regular grass encounter Pokémon are not included.

I guess I didn’t say it in the video but after a lot of playing I found the first grunt to be very easy with 13 mostly 14 level pokemon especially when using (though biased) oshawott/pansear lead getting very consistent results.
Yeah makes sense, at 13 the grunt is definitely much more bearable and if that guaranteed lead works I can see why it wasn't a factor
