    It looks great IMHO and it sounds amazing. Assembled and supported in USA. The glass is cool, unique. The headphone section is amazing. This amp is a great product. I upgraded to a F35 I loved it so much. Upgrade tubes and get rid of the PSVANE. The Tung Sol sounds great. I ran mofi sourcepoint 10 great. 90ish db. Btw, The build is xcellent and will last forever

    Would love to see you review the ZMF Aegis.

    Suggestion on the installing the cover - put the cover on the table upside down - then set the amp chassis into it - and then install the screws? As you say - not ideal - but maybe the better way to go?

      This was my first thought as I watched. What's "not ideal" about this method? I get that it's not ideal to have no independent feet on the unit, but what's the problem with turning the glass case upside down, setting the amp down into it, and then installing the screws/feet?

    • @NeilBlanchard
      @NeilBlanchard День назад

      @@williambracken9339 - obviously *every* design makes some compromises. Soft feet that stay put is something the would be better than this set up. Having glass plates in a frame with no visible fasteners does mean that thumb screws on the bottom are probably the best way to go. I do like the look of the glass panels vs the metal bar cages used on many tube amps.
      I wonder if there can be a very thin layer of metal in the glass (like a couple of molecules thick) in the glass, so that it *would* act as a Faraday cage?

    I have those fusion 360 v2 tube preamp. They make excellent products.

    I have the F 22 and absolutely love it. Many more choices in tubes.

    Thanks very much for the review.
    I'm very interested to see if you're able to get your hands on a Muzishare X3T for review and comparison. It's also a speaker + headphone tube amplifier - 12AX7 x 2 (pre) / EL84 x 2 (power) / 5AR4 x 2 (rectifier) 😁

    If you are looking for an inexpensive tube amplifier this is a good choice
    It may be a good choice if you want to try out a tube amplifier and see if it is for you
    If so you might stop here or move up to a nicer tube amplifier

      @ it’s not chifi. Assembled here in the old USA by Jerred. Sure there are some Chinese components where what products don’t these days. The build quality is top notch

      @ indeed it says “crafted and voiced in Maryland”
      That is an important distinction
      All the parts are Chinese but as of 2024 it is assembled in Maryland USA
      I would certainly buy one if I needed another amplifier in the sub $1k range

    Is it safe to presume that you read the manual and no mention was made of how best to reattach the glass cage? If so, that is a neglectful omission on Black Ice's part. I suspect that two DACs that would work well with the FX10H are the FiiO K11 R2R DAC @ $190.00 and the SMSL RAW Pro-DAC1 @ $699.00

    Good, but is it good enough to recommend over the Quicksilver as a somewhat less expensive option for Utopia?

    • @mariodrv
      @mariodrv 2 дня назад

      Rather sell the Utopia if you don't want to go to at least to a EC Studio B.

    • @Michael_mki233
      @Michael_mki233 2 дня назад

      @@mariodrv I don't disagree, but some people have a strange need to want to use as cheap of an amp as possible with their TOTL headphone. A Studio B or MZ3 is where you should be looking at starting for Utopia, but some people just don't see things that way.

    Costs $800 and looks like it would be half that. This thing looks truly cheap and awful. Leave the glass top off and get some feet, but you're still left looking at that control panel that you'd find on Temu.
