- What's the difference between excess dampness and excess phlegm in Chinese medicine and how do we treat them? I get asked this question all the time by my students 😍
Both Dampness and Phlegm have similar symptoms, tongue, pulse, and it's not easy to treat either of them, with acupuncture, food or herbs! In this video, I share how to differentiate between dampness and phlegm in Chinese medicine.

Some of my patients had that condition and I didn't forget that points for several years in my practice and I also recommended a right diet for them too. For me it's effective in my experience for several years. Great to know that you also included. 👍
Awesome! YOU are a TCM Rock Star 😍
Thanks for that, it does help a bit !
Perfect 😍
Another beautiful video after 13 ghost points where you have talked about phlegm, visible and invisible, I have watched that 1-hour long video. Thank you Calar, May GOD bless you. You are a beautiful soul. Always be blessed.

clarifies a lot . Thankyou ❣🙏😊
Perfect 😍
Love this! Thank you
So happy you enjoyed it 🥰
Thanks ma'am. So, we have to sedate SP9 and ST40? Right. Also what about ST36 ? Do we tone or sedate ST36 for internal dampness. Does dampness increase yang and create Qi stagnation? You're videos are so simple and straightforward to understand.
Sedate all points for dampness 🌷
Dampness créâtes stagnation but does not increase Yang 🙏
When we sedate ST40 for phelgm. How does the phelgm come out of the body?
Also is Diao sha(tapping the 8nests) a good exercise to remove dampness?
Thank you for your excellent explanation. Please suggest sedation or tone madam
Love your stuff kick on love it
Thank you ☺️

Hello. I'm studying TCM & acupuncture in Belgium. Thanks a lot for all your videos ! 🙏😊 They are very precious for my study. You talk about phlegme that can affect the spirit, the Shen. Do you recommand other points than SP9 and ST40 to drain phlegme in this specific case ? Thanks for your answer. 🙏😊 Have a nice day !
Yes absolutely! 🥰 Like HT 8, PC 8, LU 9, SJ 10, PC 6, and many more 🙏
Does five element theory then play a part to treat the root cause as opposed to just dealing with the repeated damp/phlem.
Absolutely! Diet can be a cause, weak constitution, emotional trauma, damp environment...And yes the 5 Elements can help us identify which element (organ) was affected first 😍
It’s a random question and I understand there are a few different hypotheses out there but I was wondering what your thoughts were on primo vascular system as it sounded quite convincing with actual sizes of morphological structures within blood vessels, lymphatic vessels and nerves. Thanks.
That’s interesting, great question 🥰 I think it’s a big subject needing a bit more time to write it all up🌷
@@Acuproacademy No worries, just thought of it and thought I’d ask. If you have spare time in the future 😊👍
Nice video. I have excessive mucus generation and inflammation in throat, pharynx, head, abdomen, and chest tightness(rare times). I also have mental irritability, anger, anxiety when mucus and internal swelling/congestion is more intense. Can you suggest some chinese or ayurveda medicines? Thanks
Sorry I am not allowed to treat online 🌷 I suggest you go see a qualified practitioner in your area to guide you 🙏
When you sedate what you you do? I've been taught some methods I would like to know yours. Thank You
Use points that sedate, then use needle techniques (with twisting & thrusting). I’ll do a video on needle techniques next month ☺️ easier to demo than to write 🌷
Hi what herbal formulas woukd you use for plegm and dampness?
There are many formulas for both, it depends on the root cause, which organ is affected, and what symptoms are prominent 🌷
Is Diao sha (tapping the 8nests) a good exercise to remove dampness?
Sure but diet is key 😍
About the invisible flegma, can we consider it to be stored as external energy, thought forms, or be in the aura? Or its all inside our body? Does tcm see outside energy as something real also, in a wya you could treat it directly for instance, with pranic healling or reiki?
I don’t do Reiki or organic healing so I can’t answer as it’s not TCM 🌷 phlegm is part of the body (internal) and mind but it’s all internal not external 🙏
Thank you very much Clara for the clarification. I have phlegm and mucus in the throat (lungs) which is chronic and present for years. I tried with accupressure on LU9 2-3x a day pressing for 2 minutes the whole month, but I didn't notice any difference. I would like to try with needles. Should I use yin needle (stainless steel) or yang copper needle?
Have you tried SP 9 or ST 40 and LI 4…Lu 9 is not the right point in my opinion 🌷
@@Acuproacademy Thank you. I will try and give you a feedback after some time. I also have needles and I hope they will be more effective with sedating those points than acupressure.
Kind regards
@@Alexxx95_H diet is key for phlegm as well 🌷
@@Acuproacademy Im already vegetarian for 10 years now. And now Im excluding diary and every flour-based meal from my diet. I hope it will work.
If you have any other suggestions, Im open to hear it. 🙏
You might live in a damp environment. Banana are damp and so is alcohol, sugar and potatoes@@Alexxx95_H
Is it related to frequent urination?
Note that the person performed examinations of the kidneys, bladder, and everything related to the urinary tract, and all of them were fine
Frequent urination is a yang deficiency 🙏
I read about yang deficiency and this sentence caught my attention: “With yang deficiency, urination can be more frequent, particularly at night, because the yang is not strong enough to hold the urine in the bladder for a long time. For the same reason, sweating with "No exertion is a symptom of yang deficiency. The yang is so weak, that it can't hold the moisture in the skin."
This is exactly what happens to me
Is there a chinese herbal remedy that raises yang@@Acuproacademy
Does ash guard help with liver dampness?
What’s Ash Guard?
The way I look at it is that phlegm is a form of dampness but more localised.
And thicker 🥰
What is the difference between phlegm/damp-heat and phlegm/ damp-cold
I have celiac disease and ovarian cyst and I am confused if I have cold or heat
It would take me a long time to explain, I would suggest you go see a qualified practitioner in your area to guide you 🌷 they will look at your tongue, take your pulse and ask you questions on your health to figure out if you have cold or heat 🙏
You can also watch this video to help you understand better ☺️ ruclips.net/video/XJxpspxnJxc/видео.html
I see an acupuncturist now and she says I have Dampness heat and cold, and phlegm. Also that its difficult and takes time to treat.
That’s is true, diet is also key to getting rid of damp and phlegm 🌷
@Acuproacademy his long does it take? If you have both and now the entire body has grown in size due to edema water. I easily swell. Thx
👍👍
Thank you 🥰
❤❤❤
Thank you ☺️
My pleasure 🥰
I am being treated by a Chinese Herbalist, he told me I have "Wet Posion " / Dampness in my body, the problem i have is that I am NOT suffering from any of the symptoms I have seen in your and other videos , he wants me to pay for treatment of removal of the issue....im not comfortable w this, can you guide me where I can do further research so I have a better understanding?
Darn, that’s tough 🙏 you can always research Dampness in TCM and also research the formula the practitioner gave you. Dampness can be in many different areas of the body 💦
Trying to figure out why my patient would be feeling sick when she drinks water. Stomach ache with cold water, nausea with warm. I'm a bit stumped.
Does she have a lot of dampness? Is her water not good quality? 🌷
@@Acuproacademy some phlem, yesterday's research leads me to believe its an ulcer, thankyou for your response tho
@@derosecutus3462 makes sense 🌷
Why not beer and liquor but it’s ok for hard liquor?
Because Hard liquor is dry not damp as it's not sweet
What to do in case the patient has both? My mother has the symptoms of both dampness and phelgm
I talk about that in the video 🥰 just treat both 🙏
@@Acuproacademy ok thanks
ST 40, SP9 plus the right diet
what can we eat
I give examples in the video, or you can read the transcript here: acuproacademy.com/dampness-versus-phlegm-in-chinese-medicine/
If you think you have dampness or phlegm, I recommend you seek a qualified practitioner in your area to guide you 🙏🏼
If we are fat, its a lot of flegm?
Yes in tcm

Point for invisible phlegm
Did you watch the video? Same as visible, ST 40 🙏
@@Acuproacademy I watched the complete video mam, you mentioned invisible phlegm and symptoms but point was not mentioned. Thanks for replying
@@734591 I did say ST 40 is used for both visible and invisible 🙏
