Half-Life: Opposing Force is an expansion pack for the first-person shooter game Half-Life. It was developed by Gearbox Software and published by Sierra On-Line for Windows on November 19, 1999. Opposing Force was the first expansion for Half-Life and was announced in April 1999.

1:00:48 This scene completely disables the players agency without taking away control. It also resolves without player involvement subverting players expectance of a puzzle to solve.
It is in essence a cutscene to sneaks some exposition (crumbling facility, G-Man) in, but instead of relieving tension like cut scenes usually do, it heightens it. Very neat trick :D
That was Valve and Gearbox back then, I miss those times.. now the only remaining thing I see after the 20's is "how to bring the dead back".

39:57 fun fact: if you are fast enough in this section you can get 1 of 2 weapons. you can be lucky and get the shotgun if the guy fighting the vortigaunt dies, or get the mp5 by climbing the helicopter and going on the other side of the gate.
Against all the struggle, you stayed true to the 1HP run and I respect it. It was a joy to watch, can't wait to see more of this universe from you

I’m ready to play this game this weekend. Just found my dads old disk of from 1999
The loading screen at 6:16:36 sadly cuts off the best soundtrack in the game. It's a steam version glitch that was never fixed. There's a fan made fix on moddb. I wasn't aware of this fact untill recently when I listened the entire Opposing Force OST playlist on youtube.
Shepherd didn't kill scientists (Well kinda, thats up to the player) because his task briefing about the true purpose of the HECU there is to be done/delivered once they landed (But yknow, they crashed).
This stream was straight fire man, keep it up.
It's not so much that I doubted you, it's that I wanted to see you complete it and it shoulda only taken 4 hours haha. Looking forward to BlueShift and HL2 :D
Glad to see that despite the headaches that occurred in the last few hours of the stream you still enjoyed the game, I've been loving the streams lately and will be here when you complete all the half life games.

@@kel_ski Actually YES, play Black Mesa after you finish the ORIGINAL Half_life games. Then move on to Half-Life:Alyx, That IS the best way to do it and see the evolution of Half-life.
Love seeing a new player playing Half-life for the first time. It's something rather special. If not sometimes frustrating to watch, but then, the pay-off is nice when you figure something out.

Idk if somebody said this but half life opposing force and blue shift weren't made by valve. They were made by gearbox because valve was busy developping half life 2.

hey kelski i recommend when you play blue sift use the hd models i know everyone says not too but opposing force and half-life were made in 1998 while blueshift was made in 2001 so the hd models fit more for blue shigt

Kinda weird that sven co op is free and it comes with hl1 chapters so you can basically play Hl1 for free but you will need at least 1 friend to play with

Your HL1 stream was good, this one it seems you are attempting to be humorous and play around instead of playing the game. Also you damage yourself more than the aliens do, it's extremely frustrating to watch you finally get more than 10 hp just to have you do some stupid 360 miss jump just to take you back to critical.

I'm sorry the live chat was being so annoying. I'll be a Devil's Advocate and say that some HL1 fans really like to see a new player experience every little thing the game has to offer the first time, so they can be aggressive towards it. Marphy Black has great Stuff on Half-Life development and engine secrets.

People keep bringing up Entropy Zero but nobody seemed to give a realistic take on it.
Entropy Zero 1 is very much a Half-Life 2 mod. It feels like a mod. It’s ok, not great.
Entropy Zero 2 is more like a fan-made spiritual sequel to Opposing Force (you do not play as Adrian or any of the HECU). The production quality is generally quite good, but the level design is clearly still amateur. It is definitely worth playing when you’re all done with Half-Life 2 and it’s episodes (it’s important to play these first) but don’t let the hype ruin it for you. I was expecting greatness due to the hype and found… well, “pretty good-ness” instead.
I found the level design better than Half-Life 2, but I understand that EZ2 isn't for everybody. It's really good in my opinion, you can have your opinion. In the other hand EZ1, has more issues, such as the energy pellet room where you're supposed to look up and the puzzle room with buttons, It's really confusing without a walkthrough, and not to mention the vortigaunt boss fight at the end of the game, It was so bad in fact that I had to exit the game and watch the ending of the game on youtube and then moved on to EZ2. EZ2, in my opinion has excellent combat, good story, and great characters (especially Wilson, I love him.) It's a major leap compared to the first game. While it may not live up to the greatness the HL games achieved, It's very close to it. And It's free so, good deal.

Hard difficulty just makes you take more damage, heal less and enemies have more health . Congratulations you played yourself.
Head at the training part is actually the bathrooms. Head (I don't know why) is just a term for bathroom in the military.

Now that you've played Half-Life and Opposing Force, I'd really love to see Half-Life 2 and it's episodes, but I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you try out Black Mesa eventually. It's a freaking masterpiece and since you've played the vanilla Half-Life recently, you'll be able to appreciate it even more.
Best would be to play in order of releases, so black mesa at the end before alyx. 😂❤

💫 Besides the official expansion packs, there are a whole lot of multiplayer HL mods some of which later became official (Garry's Mod, Team Fortress, Counterstrike, Day of Defeat) and also a bunch of decent fan and semi-pro single player campaigns like "USS Darkstar", "They Hunger", and of course "Black Mesa".
I believe killing enemies for Shepard is easier cause he is a trained soldier and Gordon is a Scientist.
it might also be easier for me beacuse the PCV injects morphine into the user, which might explain the pipe wrench doing 200 damage

I've heard it said before that if you're playing Half-Life properly your HP will rarely if ever drop below 50. Then again, 1HP wasn't a failure. If you find save-scumming to hell and back fun then more power to you, but I'd get tired of a 1HP run's monotony pretty quick were I to do one myself. That you did it for Opposing Force of all games is impressive, OpFor is considered to be one of if not the hardest game in the series. Opposing Force on Hard is a painful experience in its closing chapters.
