    Love your review for this video, man.
    I've been meaning to get back to arcade rallies and other arcade racing games in general, and your review helps me deciding what game I should try my hands on next.
    Plus, thank you for recommending the Over Jump Rally.

    This game is the rally game that gives me the rally gaming experience I want most. Just arcade enough while still being very realistic.

      I have the same opinion. I still play this game to this day on Xbox 360 my older brother got when it came out. I was a baby when he got it, so I played on it for the first time when I was in kindergarten in 2009 🙂

    I owned this for the Sony PSP. I found the viewing angle from behind the car way too low. At times the hood of the rally car blocked out the horizon.

    Played this online when it was somewhat new. My Mortal Kombat teacher got the world records on every stage, even beating the Japanese players. ~15 years later, I just tried to set it up for split screen play with brother, but the PC version doesn't support two xinput pads. It never ceases to amaze me how games get released without the most basic-ass functions/features everyone would expect to be there. I know I could figure out the keyboard buttons it assigns to the 2nd player and use xpadder or AntiMicroX, but I'm not supposed to have to fucking do that...

    I cut my teeth on the original Sega Rally arcade which I loved so much and played the crap out of the Saturn port. I was really disappointed in the 2nd installment, even the arcade. It didn't seem to have the magic the first one did. When I played Revo I instantly fell in love again. I played it on the PC first and yes it has an annoying frame pacing issue of which there does not seem to be anyway around, but then I picked up a PS3 and played it with a Driving Force Pro wheel and it is such a blast to play. If you're not playing this game with a force feedback wheel, you're missing out!

      Damn it, now I gotta buy a wheel...

    I confirm that it's a great underrated game.
    Even me, back in the days, I kinda ignored it maybe cos there was lots of competition?
    In retrospect, it was one of the better rally games, and it still is!

    Sega Rally Revo is my all time favorite driving game. in terms if the fun factor, it is the most fun I ever had in a driving game where they emphasized arcade feel over simulation.

    • @goukigod
      @goukigod  5 месяцев назад +1

      I think Sega should test the waters by releasing a Sega Rally collection. Include the arcade games, this and maybe 2006, maybe up the resolution and see if it sells. I'd love to have them all in one place!

    Oh, man, these even had all the legendary rally cars. Even had the Quattro (6:42, that is the Quattro, right?). I need to play this game.

    • @goukigod
      @goukigod  10 месяцев назад +1

      Yep, the quattro A2. It's part of the masters class/championship which is the last lot of events you unlock. All these vehicles are incredibly fast compared to the other categories. The Stratos is just like in the Saturn version too. Takes a while to understand.

    Very good video.
    Revo is a flawed masterpiece. Played in first person, the handling drastically improves, and the stellar gameplay shines. The single-player campaign is very frustrating though and the way tracks are seemingly randomly arranged in the cups is quite annoying.
    The track designs, graphics, playability and overall vibe are all on-point though.

      I would love to have seen where it went from here; more elaborate tracks, damage, crazy new categories. A shame the studio never got much of a chance.

    For me, the pc port can run as high as its wants... I'm not joking. It runs as high as 3000 fps at times, and over 1000 fps at times while racing. No, those aren't typos. This game just runs SO DANG GOOD!!

  • @adroharv5140

    truthfully the game was too difficult. Now I love the game and consider it the best Sega Rally but when I started playing I always came in last or second to last and I'm pretty decent at racing games meaning most people would have played the demo or game itself and decided it was way too difficult. Surely testing surely would have highlighted this. I think an easier mode would have at least given the game more of a chance but with racers at the time struggling to sell, the difficulty also certainly wouldn't have helped. A shame then as it's one of the most engrossing racing games you can play

    • @goukigod
      @goukigod  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, the latter stages in the championship mode are brutally hard! In hindsight I don't know that there was much they could have done to save the game. I think it just came out at the wrong time. 5 years earlier and it probably would have been an instant hit.

    Are you being serious about Revo killing the game? It is one of the first rally style games to make me play through the whole game.
    This game was incredible.

    • @goukigod
      @goukigod  14 дней назад

      Not what I said. Many people believe it was responsible for killing the franchise. I think it was more to do with arcade racers losing popularity due to the rise in sim style rally games.
