    Loved Ruby's family. How the actress who played her adoptive Mother was so different when in the alternate timeline she had never raised Ruby ! Then the Doctor brought Ruby back and she was a loving, open person again.
    Also, liked the "weaving" of time, coincidences & the ropes all being connected. That was some proper storytelling !
    Laughed when Ncuti said he was "reading rope." Such an iconic Doctor thing to say !
    Great energy vetween the Doctor and Ruby. I am properly excited to see the spring episode !

    • @Techydad

      Michelle Greenidge did an amazing job with that. It's like she's playing two completely different characters. One who (with Ruby) is full of life and is happy. The other (no Ruby) who has been beaten down by life and says she's happy when she isn't.
      I hope we see more of her in future episodes. Cherry Sunday as well. I love her attitude. I could see her telling off some invading Daleks until they bring her tea.

      The concept of time-travelling goblins that live at the edges of Earth's atmosphere in their stealth-ship is also great. And so is the idea of using ropes on the ship as basically the internet.
      The story overall was nice, had a good flow, was even touching.
      There was also some nice humour in the episode and I liked that they gave us a little musical number. I loved when they murdered the lady with a crisscross tree in one timeline.

    I love that Doctor Who included something about adoption and that the new companion is an adoptee. There's so many people screaming about how they've included more diversity but all I can say is "get over it". The WORLD is diverse and it's so wonderful to feel included in the Whoinverse. I'm an adoptee that found out through a DNA test that I was adopted. My adopted family never told me and so I was 50 before I knew. By then all but my biological father had passed and I only got to meet him 2 months before he passed. He said he didn't know about me and wasn't sure who the mother was. There aren't many matches in the database that seem to be on the maternal side and they are mostly distant cousins. Through a lot of tree building and research I think I know who my mother was... and that's still not 100%... but that person has passed.

    • @llt8101
      @llt8101 6 месяцев назад +16

      I love it too! My dad was adopted and I was a foster child, at one point. So, I love that they included both. Because they are two different things and usually TV shows get it wrong and think the two terms are interchangeable.
      Also, I loved that they never used the term "real parents", like they do in most shows that I've seen adoption depicted in. My family always says "birth parents" and "biological parents" about my father's biological parents.

    • @93Chowo
      @93Chowo 6 месяцев назад +16

      For me it feels like that all these people who complain about "woke propaganda" and diversity are just not liking that Doctor Who changed in the now 60 years of existence. As you nicely explained it´s a way to let some viewers to relate to the show´s characters and also even if the Doctor travels around time and space the present is the same as in real life and such things just exist if people like it or not. I´m not an adoptee but I still could relate to this episode because "family" was a big part of it and I lost my mother a few years back and now I know even more how important family is and knowing where you come from.

    I love that the goblins were a practical effect! And the on location filming, too, with the faux snow! The orchestra was something I didn't anticipate, either. So much can be done with computers that, to me, it sometimes seems like that's all people rely on for special effects and music these days. I love it when traditional and modern techniques are combined. Awesome episode!

    The only parts that irked me were how Ruby was left literally with just a blanket on the snow. Not even a basket. That would immediately freeze the baby to death, LOL. And how her mom was still walking near the church even after all the things that happened with the Doctor and the ship at the church. She would have already been ways away but it was like time stopped and just resumed after The doctor left Ruby back at the front of the church.

    Absolutely fantastic to have Doctor Who rightfully back at Xmas. Very happy to say that I thoroughly enjoyed David's return. We needed a strong Bridge to set up an exciting new era. I don't want Bi-Generation to be something that happens again. As a one off though, seeing 15 going at the usual pace while Another Doctor takes some time to slow down and deal with all he's been through and lost. The second actor that had to follow in Tennant's massive footsteps and so far he has very much achieved that successfully for me. Can't wait for may for more of 15 and Ruby and can't wait for more Whoniverse updates. Here's to the New Doctor and the newest Companion of the TARDIS

    • @Techydad
      @Techydad 6 месяцев назад +1

      My theory is that Bi-Generation was only possible because of the Toymaker. 15 said that it's a myth and what does that Toymaker do if not make the impossible possible?
      So he could have (as he threatened ) kept splitting the Doctor in two indefinitely with Bi-Generation after Bi-Generation. But once he was gone, the chances of Bi-Generation happening fall back into Myth realm again.

    I have really enjoyed the 7 specials we've gotten in the last two years. I haven't disliked any of the specials, but the ones I really enjoyed are the top 5 listed below.
    If I had to rank them, it would probably be:
    1) Eve of the Daleks
    2) The Giggle
    3) The Church on Ruby Road
    4) Power of the Doctor
    5) Wild Blue Yonder
    6) The Star Beast
    7) Legend of the Sea Devils
    This is just my opinion, I understand that I lot of people hate the Chibnall era, and I do see the problems with his era, but for the most part, I can overlook those problems and just enjoy new Doctor Who. Everyone has opinions, you have the right to those opinions. I hope everyone reading this has an amazing 2024!
    Let's have a friendly debate that will likely quickly spiral into a war of opinions.
    How would all of you rank the specials?
