This one has took me quite some time and work to do, a lot of transitions and merging, making sure everything connects perfectly, I hope you'll enjoy this little journey we are headed on!
This was one of the most wonderful soundscapes my family and I have ever witnessed. It makes me think of my computer as the window of possibilities it was imagined to be. Thank you so much for this composition
Same here. Grew up with Windows 95, 98, then XP in my most formative years. Building pokemon/dbz fan sites with basic HTML as a 3rd grader while most of my school teachers didn't even know how to access the internet yet.
@@NinoDesbordes-vl6cc It came out a year or so before you were born. I was in 5th grade at the time. I'll never forget we got a brand new Dell desktop in our class room (Those old black huge Dell PC's from the early 2000's that were EVERYWHERE) and the only reason we had a PC in our classroom was because I went to a private school. That day was the first time I got a glimpse of Windows XP. I had grown up using 95, then 98, but XP was absolutely fascinating to 11 year old me. We got it at home pretty soon after that. It's easily the best operating system Windows ever made, and it perfectly encapsulates the frutiger aero aesthetic and is why so many people these days love that aesthetic and remember it fondly.
I remember buying gaming and computer magazines every month and spending hours reading the reviews while looking at the beautiful pictures and wondering what it would be like to possess all these incredible pieces of software. 30 years later, I have finally caught up with the reviews
Incredible work Retrovex, you've done it again! My childhood flashed before my eyes. I love how you've managed to take the NT startup sound and create something completely unique. Love the unique and imaginative visuals, those toasters are super cute!
@@RetrovexAmbient Oh man, the answer to that question is "it's complicated" 😅 My first Windows was 95 though, back when the Start menu was new and exciting 😄
I have no idea how you create these things, but they are incredibly beautiful, and pay a true homage to each operating system (I especially love that with NT, you took it out into an ethereal outer space since its default wallpaper/startup screen shows the stars).
I been following the story, first the PC was in the ocean, then it flew, now its wandering around space. Adds extra nostalgia to the themes. Thank you so much for your work, waiting for the rest of the series.
Dude this is so awesome! That opening is golden haha both the logo reveal through the old computer, then the flying computer! Music is great too love that the old Windows sounds are distinguishable and still blend in so nicely. Fantastic job!
Holy mother of Joeseph, as if the 95 and 98 ones didn’t make me want to levitate to the heavens more! Listening to this soundscape on Skullcandy Crusher Evos on maximum bass is an ethereal listening experience that words cannot match. Wondrous work!
Thanks a ton! 💜 I am getting more comfortable making bigger risks now with more complex visual story telling now that people actually like to watch my stuff haha.

Really liked the 95 and 98 pieces both for the nostalgia angle and the great ambient tracks. The NT track has less nostalgia to it, but still holds up great as an ambient piece!
Less Nostalgia? Mayhaps for you, I oft visited my grandfather's workplace where Windows NT 4.0-based machines were rife from the mid-90's through the early 2000's. Those were true workstations, he ensured a hospital's backup power plant never failed. Those machines were reliable as ever, even as external electric providers weren't!
Of course and thank you sincerely as well! Your tracks have really helped me with my work focus and meditations, really glad I stumbled on your channel and looking forward to subsequent windows masterpieces!@@RetrovexAmbient
Hi, I just recently watched your videos. And I really like this theme with retro windows. And how you use this design and how creative and peaceful it is😍
Uhhh... Obscura! Obscura!! Ya, those flying toasters did made me laugh, but this is a nice ambient for me to study and relax with. Let's see how you do to remix NT 5.0 (Beta 2)'s startup tune!
As someone that practically enjoys older Windows in today's environment, despite their outdated state and all, first you've drawn me in with 95 being relatable, then it was 98 to fly over my expectations completely and now this NT(4) one... Well played - you have mastered a New Technology for ambience. Especially looking towards XP, but we still have 2000 (and, indirectly, ME) first. 🖖
These soundcapes are are really cool. Ithink for me the XP one will hit the hardest. Although my first computer was win95 and upgraded to 98, I can't really remember the system sounds very well from them and I missed NT entirely :-(
If you do plan to make all of the Windows startup sounds as ambient music, I'd be especially impressed with anything you'd come up with starting with Windows Vista/7.
It just occurred to me we are rapidly approaching an era where the flying toaster meme will be forgotten, if it hasn't already happened. Do people even _use_ screen savers anymore?

I like to think there's a little computer happily blasting through space with his own tiny rocket!
you mean the Voyager space probes? :3
with toasters around
Honestly, I prefer the old PCs of the past. It was a much more innocent and imaginative time. I look back on those days happily.

Windows NT already? We're moving up in the world :D
Yeah.
Probably to a new grassy blissful world if I had to guess where this is leading to.... Please tell me we are skipping windows ME.

After Dark and classic Windows! What a treat!
These soundscapes are great. If I've got some pressure or stress, these really calm my mind. I can listen to them over and over again.
Loving the vibes! Reminds me of when computers were just babies 🥹😭
I really like these being a 90's kid really brings me back.

love that Jonn Serrie sound!
These have been awesome for studying! Can't wait for Vista and Windows 7 - then it'll be _really_ nostalgic ;)
The sounds are absolutely fantastic, and the fly computer looks so out of place in the endless void of space. 😂
