Thanks for the video - went from a 30t to 34t chain ring for speed 👍

Thanks a lot. That really helped me to install my new crankset. It's SLX 7100 but the procedure is the same. Cheers.

No mention of spacers- My crankset came with two spacers. In what scenario would you use them?

@@FreeToCycle Right, thanks for responding but I'm not concerned with the spacers for the bb (I know that I use just one spacer on drive side only for my 73mm bb with Boost spacing), I'm referencing the spacers for the chainring when mounting to the crankset. My XT crankset came with two of them. Researching elsewhere seems to indicate that you put one after installing the lockring and the other on the non-drive side, each with the lip side of the spacer facing in towards the bb if that helps anybody.
Worth noting that you may in fact have said spacer sitting on top of your lockring as you are about to remove the lockring with the spacer seated on top of it. (I really can't tell for sure in your video).

Nice video i was wondering if I can use this with my XT M8000 11speed drivetrain. The M8000 crankset for 166 or 170 is hard to get this time.. so I am looking for a another solution..

    • @FreeToCycle

Yes the M6100 crankset will work fine with the 11 speed chain!

@@FreeToCycle Would the M6130 will work too.. According to the website, this is only for 12 speed.. I am really confused

The 12 speed front crankset will work fine with your 11 speed chain!

@@Moto_Rid3r I use this exact 12 speed Deore crankset and ring on my 1x11 Shimano GRX set. No problem at all.
The 12sp chain is marginally thinner than the 11sp chain. It works fine.

I've heard the deore cranks are lighter now than the last series. My old 4 arm deore were pretty heavy.

    I have a 2021 Trek xcaliber 9 with a very similar crank.
Is there an offset to this chainring?
If I wanted to switch out foe a race face or other brand what should I look for in order to make certain it’s compatible?
    I have a30Tand would like to increase to a 32 if not a 34T
    Thanks in advance. Cheers!

you need a crankset that's made for boost dropout spacing. 52 mm chainline.
