Chri5 Clayton I haven’t but I just ordered one off amazon because of this video. They are for 165 USD right now (usually $250). Chris, have you tried it with an lightening adapter for the older iPads?
Chri5 Clayton that would be great! I’m curious because with my older one’s (or even my iPad mini 5)I wouldn’t mind being able to tap into more storage. Especially the times when I need to put something on a different computer and it’s a PC.
Jonathan T. Clayton I have tested with an old iPad 12.9 and it doesn’t seem to recognise the SSD. However I have one if the camera adapters that’s allows you to power up the hdd at the same time and that seemed to work a treat
Chri5 Clayton thank you for testing it for me! I was trying to see the options! I’m pumped that you did this video, because I hadn’t been paying attention to those T5’s and that amazon price is a pretty good deal! Keep it up, bro!
As easy as it would appear, sadly for older model iPads you do need to purchase the correct leads! Even Apple sales staff are confused about it, to my cost and frustration! The Belkin USB lead does not work. It now seems for the iPad Pro 2nd Generation and the iPad 7 generation, it’s necessary to purchase the USB C camera adapter lead, then to be able to plug-in an additional Power Supply. (Possibly a Battery pack?)
Hi Chris I was thinking about buying one of these do use with my iPhone XS Max so you’re saying it will work fine with a USB Apple adapter to the SSD and powering it up ????? (I am running iOS 13)
I actually also have a Samsung T5. The issue I am having is if I create a new folder on the T5 the files app freezes up on me. I haven’t came across anyone else having this issue though.
Have any of you guys tried out any of these external SSDs for the iPad? Got any recommendations?

got the Samsung T5 EVO Portable SSD thinking it would work with my iPad pro. Sadly not working... only works with my PC even though formatted exFAT.
Please review it with T7. Also please show how is the speed while copying from ipad to ssd. TIA.

Mike Potapa that is strange... have you tried reformatting the T5?
Chri5 Clayton I have not. I’m going to give it a try in a few minutes.
