Craig, could you define old probes? Do you mean like ones for an ink bird? I’ll have to check it out and report back. I can say that these are the most impressive probes I’ve ever seen. My only complaint is cord length.
Great question. I don’t have the official answer. I would recommend contacting Yoder for that. I’ve found that the original fire pot works just fine. I also think that it would be included or at least recommend when you buy the full performance upgrade kit. Someday I’ll get the updated mount. My opinion is it works just fine with the original one. That’s just a normal Dude in the backyards opinion. Again, I would recommend contacting Yoder for the official answer.
So, is the upgrade worth the money? I just ordered everything but the fans Friday and after watching your videos I’m thinking I need to order the fans as well. I’ve read some people have troubles with the upgrade. Just wanted your opinion. Thanks
When you are talking upgrade are you talking about the new controller? If you are talking about the burn grate and igniter I would say 100% worth it. If you have a older YS640 like I do and plan on keeping it for a long time I would say the new controller is worth it. If you are thinking about getting another grill in the near future I would say it isn't. Installing stuff isn't my strong suit. I didn't have any big issues putting the new controller in. It's curious you mention the fans. The fans I received with my controller upgrade kit were the same as my old ones. So i'll leave that up to you if you think you want new fans.
@@DrTasteGoodBBQ thank you! Yeah, I ordered the controller, ceramic igniter and burn grate. I have an old model so I had to get the thermalcouple relocating kit too. It doesn’t mention new fans but I’ll wait and see. I only live 100 mile from ATBBQ so worst case scenario I can order new fans. I just figured having it tore apart it would be a good move to change the inner fan at least.
Keep it up dude! I love that you keep upgrading the Yoder with the repaint last year and all. It's a nice long term view of Yoder ownership 👍
Thanks! Turned into a nice little mini series.
awesome upgrade kit!! i am gonna have to look into this for me!

Do you have to install the Updated Firepot Mount for this kit to fit?
