Such a gorgeous book - each shed is unique and inspiring, and I love all the tiny details Kotite features to help readers imagine how to create their own She Sheds ruclips.net/user/postUgkxe9yi0sulKgsp0VJJCIrLWWkvVqcU7LFR . The feature on Dinah's Rustic Retreat is like something from a fairy tale. It's really inspiring to see how creative all these ordinary people are in making beautiful and useful spaces on a modest scale.

This disabled veteran says,,don't let the bad comments bother you,,you have plenty of cedar for other projects. I think you did a wonderful job ALL by yourself. That is a great job...I grew up as a kid pulling logs out of woods n sawing. Loved video 👍

You using cedar on your shed is your business. Those who get their nose bent over such things deserve to have their nose bent. Some people really struggle with minding their own business. I couldn't help but think about how wonderfully blessed one is to be doing what you are doing, right where you are doing it! That place must go a long ways toward giving you peace of mind. Good for you young man, good for you. 😎👍

I live in the UK. In the first World War, 1914 - 1918, the government supplied small engineering firms with workshops, some made of cedar. There was one not far from me that was still in great shape the last time I saw it around 2001. That's a lot of winters, summers, snow and rain, scorching sun, woodworm etc. Cedar is a great wood!! It also makes superb guitar tops. Maybe the slice through the middle, which equates to being quarter cut, would have been a lot more valuable to sell to guitar makers. Thanks for uploading a glimpse of your life!

lol was about to say the same thing... I really don't get how people can be so self entitled that they think they can tell others what they can / can't do with the other persons property, If they think one shed wall made out of cedar is bad they'd hate to see some of the stables and animal enclosures I've worked in the entire structure was made from cedar, (the ones that weren't made with Iron Bark) all harvested from the property they were built on.

I don't know if I would have used such beautiful wood for that but You have made the most beautiful shed I have seen. I understand where you are coming from. I am a sewer and when I see beautiful material sometimes regardless of the cost I just go for it and buy me a yard or two and make something I can just enjoy and love, maybe it is the texture, the look or the color but I never regret it and I know you won't either. Sometimes I think people forget all the hard work we as artist put in to things and sell and that we also deserve "pretty" things. Congratulations on a job well done. Wish I could smell that cedar. Enjoy. If you happen to have a couple of boards left put them up in your daughters closet, years later when she smells cedar she will automaticly think of you. and a little block truck or car for your son.

I would build yokes from 4x6x18 and screw them to the posts. Then rest the purlins in the yokes. Just make sure to only secure one yoke first and clamp the opposite end. It will need to move around to get the purlin in. Then screw it to that post. - KJ

Well food for thought maybe he has a brush hog on the tractor and in order to get the tractor under cover with a front bucket and the brush hog adds weight to keep rear wheels on the ground when he's lifting a log , so he backs it in and the hog fits under the shorter board area and out the back of the shed . Which is logical to protect the bigger part of his investment. As far as people complaints about the use of the cedar planks he owns the right to use them anyway he desires even biulding an out house if he desires.!

I think it's brilliant that this man took that old log and recycled it for his shed. Good guy, lovely family.

I would love to have a cedar wall shed. I think the nay sayers would love one also just to prideful to admit it. You have a blessed day and keep making these wonderful videos. There will always be someone to complain about something. Let it be like water off a ducks back and keep on moving.

I love your cat! No fear of all the tools and saw sounds and drill sounds and everything. The finished product looks amazing! It gives a very old rustic look to your shed. Very nice work.

That's the best dang looking shed wall I've ever seen. I love the rustic live edges and raggedy gaps. Thanks for sharing!

You tell them, it’s not like there’s a shortage of cedar trees in the south.

I understand their feelings, I love cedar to, but this is still America, use what you want how you want to use it. I would have done that back wall with heavy canvas tarps so it could be rolled up on the nice days.

@@falllineridge I would use that idea for the end walls and front wall for winter and for ease of removal of the tractor and mill.

@@michaelgoettsch7744 I agree the end and front could benefit with this, specially if they expect any snow. ( Evergreen trees tend to be in areas where snow is a common thing. )
Or even for when the win and rain are coming in from a different direction.

Fall Line Ridge canvas coated with beeswax is a pretty good waterproof material, canvas is already water resistant to a certain degree

    • @almonjacob3496
      @almonjacob3496 4 года назад +1

@@BESHYSBEES absolutely, canvas hanging in sections with a pole at the bottom could be rolled up in sections or all together and tied. This would allow the air to circulate on those hot days. Beeswax would remain flexible, that is a good idea.

I wouldn't loose any sleep over what a few Jack Asses thouht about your choice of wood use on the back of your shed, after all, it's your wood, your shed, and your business period. Love your family, your legged Beagle and black & white cat that appears to be checking your to make sure you are doing it right. Love your site, by the way the cedar really looks great. Keep up the good work.

My uncle was pointing out his cedar light pole that he cut 50 years ago and is still as strong as the day it was cut. I can't see a better reason to use the cedar on the shed than that. long lasting and it will weather well.
