I just have to tell you how much I enjoy your videos. I've been watching another sawyer's videos along with yours for a couple of years now. His channel is not as big as yours but as his channel has grown he's gotten so arrogant while you have stayed the same levelheaded guy. I appreciate that.
I watched a different guy today, don't know how old the video was, but watching it was like waiting for a train wreck to happen ....... I mean, I was waiting for him to either trip over debris and boards he left laying right where he had to walk to off load boards as he cut them, and half expected him to be impaled by the saw blade when it snapped.

Some times you don't appreciate how valuable your hard work is until you go to buy a board.Every once in a while I get lazy and go to town to buy a board for some quick project. Always come home with sticker shock, empty handed, and dig out what I need from the wood pile. I like to use those knotty logs for timbers, but those will be ok for fence boards
I'm actually super fascinated as to why these videos draw so much interest. I mean to say I can't stop clicking myself. Something about the massive scale and maybe element of danger? IDK, but I feel like I need to really look into this!

I've been wanting a good bandsaw mill for years but only could afford a chainsaw mill. I have been milling 4x4's for fence posts but I don't have a good place to dry. Think i should paint or use water sealer on them before i bury the fence post to keep them from rotting since they're green

Hey Chris, no plans for an update video right now. I'll tell you that it does a great job of drying lumber, but it is poorly designed. The side doors make it a back breaking ordeal to load it with lumber. If I ever do it again I'll probably use VA Tech's design.
What do you use for blade lube? I've seen several people using diesel fuel, some use windshield washer fluid. I can't see using fuel simply for the smell.
I been milling older pines... man... some kind of boring bug just swiss cheeses my logs after sitting for a few months... seems to mostly be regular spruce and eastern white pine... they seem to pretty much leave my white and red cedars alone and blue spruces too.

Depends. I think he's going to use it for fencing, so he could use it right away. If for inside use, it should dry for a while. The rule of thumb is a year of air drying per inch of thickness. For outside use it can be used much sooner, if not immediately. Letting it dry will produce higher quality joints and stronger attachment points however.

I use the standard WM double hard blades. They work pretty good. I use 10 degree for about everything. I have some 4 degree for hardwoods too. You'll have a blast with that mill! Congrats!

Could you give a tutorial on using the scale and or crank to measure your cuts? I keep getting off by a 1/16th or so.

When you first split that log into 2 cants you took a thin strip from between them - what is the reason for that?
I’m guessing it’s to remove the center pith of the log. Helps reduce warping.
Where is your safety equipment when using the sawmill?
You have to remember that what you buy at home depot and other places are kiln dried.
