I really love the recording, all players in general at the Bremer Barockorchester are marvellous musicians! And I admire Mr. Terakado for his beautiful sound, he certainly knows what he's doing and his instrument has such a pretty sound as well. But I really don't get why it's performed with a harpsichord.
They harpsichord came out of fashion in the 19th century, that's right. But that doesn't mean that it wasn't used. It remained part of the continuo and recitative practice until way later than Mendelssohn. Unfortunately, we sometimes forget about that practice in order to use more modern interpretatory customs...
