The face at 4:20😂😂😂😂 this by far the best reaction bro!!! He soooo cold tho im omw to guitar center right now Them:Hello sir how can I help you😁 Me:...... I need a drum room for 10 hours please😐😐 Them:😳😶🤔😐
His facial expressions are always hilarious along with the sound he makes “YEEEEEEEE!!!” Love the videos man. You should check out Anup Sastry and the band Gem with Matt Gartska playing.
Dude when i saw them at warped in denver, i couldnt even believe what i was hearing. Like i already loved OAA but hearing that clean, perfect playing from not just chris, but the whole band at the time (original bandmates) was just amazing. Blew ny fucking mind.
They are called gravity blast beats. The use the stick on the rim as a pendulum and rock the back of the stick up and down giving an almost free hit on the rocking motion
I used to call a one handed roll. I’ve never heard it called “gravity blast beats”. It’s not that hard once you get the motion down. But it usually has an inconsistent sound since it flips between a rim shot and a snare hit (more like a loud ghost note). I’m assuming the tone of the one handed roll was flattened to sound like an actual roll with a consistent sound. I still liked everything he did, even the brush work. It was a nice reprieve from the metal sound
@@m0narch969 Came here to say one-handed roll. Should be one of the expanded rudiments. At least I think it is. Its possible to do a one-handed roll without having alternating rim-shots. The key is to let the tip of the stick hit the drum head before you rock back onto the rim of the drum. Basically, you're using the rebound of the stroke plus the rim to launch the stick. I always have my "neutral" stick position at more of an angle than a rim shot - so the tip of the stick will always hit the head first.
@@m0narch969 that's what they would call it in marching (at least pipe and drum. Not sure about otherwise). But it is a little different. If you slightly change the angle, where it's around like 85 degrees, you can use the rim as a fulcrum and get an extra hit, while dampening the noise from the rim itself. You'd put your hand just below the balanced fulcrum, pinching on either side with the thumb and forefinger, while using the balanced fulcrum on the rim. You actually want to lift the stick off of the rim, so that after the initial hit, it falls and strikes again. Hence, the term 'gravity blast'.
Brother Chris is a monster . His gravity blastsand his triplets and that sick polyrhythmic fill he does in the beginning is insane. Dif you want to learn double bass control listen to a lot of drummers that do mathcore .
If I didn't know it before (this), I without question, do now - I get more joy outta watching you having such immense nachas(yiddish for overwhelmingly joy) - thank you again for finding and sharing with us (all) these amazing drummers - and you should know that you are counted (one of the finest to ever sit behind the kit, as well) among them. Shalom-
Hey Joshua hope alls well , anyway I notice you have soft spot for drummers from the metal genre which is very cool I appreciate your openness to drummers of all persuasions , anyway I think you should seriously check out an Austrian drummer buy the name of David Diepoid this dude must have the fasted feet & hands in the in the world of extreme metal drumming I think that he is worth your consideration I think that the share athleticism of this man speed and agility around his monster kit setups are worthy of at least a look in , whether or not people will like the type of music expression he plays One thing is for sure he will leave you with eyes a poping & jaws a dropping , for real dude , he’s definitely with a plug on your reaction RUclips channel , keep up the good work , peace out mike from Perth Australia
Nice, thanks for sharing! Elliot Hoffman from Car Bomb is worth checking out; around the same area genre-wise and ability level. So many sick drummers out there; they inspire me to get better -and give up- at the same time :D
You should react to him playing "Hikari". It features him talking about playing drums and writing music for his band. It's very interesting and fun to watch.
Completely agree with the suggestion to choose High Horse should you do a second reaction to Chris Turner. The amount of different technique he displays in that song is ridiculous. Thanks for giving Turner a shot on your channel.
That single hand roll isn't terribly hard to learn if you really wanted to. But adding in all the other gnarly feet under it is! haha Dude's a monster.
About the gravity blast, it actually comes naturally if you’ve been practicing. I practiced it for about a month and it’s been like 5 months since then and my gravity blasts are just so clean and distinct now.
You should check out more from Matt Gartska. He's in Animals as Leaders and GEM. Just found out about GEM not too long ago, and they might be one of my new favorite groups. They have Heinrik Linder ( I think that's his name), who's the bassist for Dirty Loops. You should definitely check that out. They have some Meinl sessions.
Check out the Dominator. His Double Bass will blow your mind. George Kolias too. Hes the most monstrous drummer to me. Also that thing you asked about is a gravity blast homie
he is so intense bro i like seeing him relaxed more so than some of the drum cam videos of his live concert stuff ,,,bro check silent planets drummer drum cam vids
The technique he’s using for blast beats you asked what it was is called gravity blast beats. If you like the high bpm double kick check out lee Stanton, Ben Harclerode and Joey jordison (old material)

As if this isn't crazy enough, he plays JUST AS CLEAN live. LIVE.
Dude when i saw them at warped in denver, i couldnt even believe what i was hearing. Like i already loved OAA but hearing that clean, perfect playing from not just chris, but the whole band at the time (original bandmates) was just amazing. Blew ny fucking mind.
I don’t listen to this genre of music. But respect where it’s due. This is insane, the man has talent!
Hey Josh, that crazy roll-like thing he was doing with one hand is called a “Gravity Blast”!
You’re welcome!
They are called gravity blast beats. The use the stick on the rim as a pendulum and rock the back of the stick up and down giving an almost free hit on the rocking motion
I was just reading comments to see if anyone explained this, lol.

Nope, socks. I think those are Quicksilver brand socks, and the logos make it look like he's wearing slides.
That's the first thing that came into my head
Nice, thanks for sharing! Elliot Hoffman from Car Bomb is worth checking out; around the same area genre-wise and ability level. So many sick drummers out there; they inspire me to get better -and give up- at the same time :D
