As a Dunedin native, I’m very jealous that this will soon take all the prime All Blacks tests from Dunedin. But it’s definitely what Christchurch and the South Island needs and can’t wait to see it all done! It’ll definitely be an upgrade on the old defunct Lancaster Park and certainly the current Rugby League Park stadium in Addington.
I think the idea is that you should probably take the bus from further out in the city, as the bus interchange is 2 blocks away connected by a pedestrian only street during events. A lot of people will drive still though so I’m sure Wilson’s is happy
The centre of a metro area with ~550k people in it seems like the perfect place for a stadium. Connected in with public transport and cycling infrastructure. They could have put it out in the middle of nowhere surrounded by an endless sea of carparks, but frankly, that would be horrific and would defeat the purpose of even building a stadium.
Watching this from Aussie and can’t help but notice you don’t have STOP GO men every 2 feet, which adds to the cost of the build. They do a course here to get their jobs, they have to learn stop then go.Where is the parking going to be?

An interesting overview, which many Cantabrians would probably like, as it gives them a better picture of progress. So will the rest of NZ. BUT (always a but) can someone please identify where the carparks are going to be? Or is it going to be like Eden Park - to get there you go by bus or train. No trains in Ch-Ch, Buses yes. Car park buildings. And it's in the city. So there's parking meters in the street. And not to many people to moan about it
3500 car parks in parking buildings within a 10 minute walk. Buses, while not up to European standards of frequency, are common enough to shuffle 6500 people per hour into and out of the city on the peak schedule, which they could run if there was an event on. Christ knows how many street parks. Given Lancaster Park never had parking and there were seldom real problems, this should be fine. I'd be more concerned about the needless cost overruns and the Guaranteed Crappy Management that will be running the place.

Impressive structure. Hope it can stand a good shaking.
Was there in November the the roof has progressed alot in that time
Thanks, I am going to be doing fortnight updates so watch this space
Great progress. Still not convinced about location tho. Great business for Wilson’s car parks

It always rains in Auckland they say 😂
A stadium built in town instead of out in the countryside with 200 hectares of parking around it...

A lot of building for a small stadium 25 to 30 thousand capacity I think
