Born James Aggrey Bob Orengo was born in 1951 in Ugenya constituency in Siaya County, Kenya to Apolo Stefano Olunga Orengo and Josfina Atieno Olunga Orengo. In 1958, he started attending Ambira Primary School, where he finished his primary education in 1964. He then joined the Alliance High School in January 1965, and finished form four education in 1970. In 1971, he joined the University of Nairobi to study law, wherein he became the university president in 1973. In 1974, he graduated from the University of Nairobi. He is married to lawyer Betty Murungi

Oooh that reminds me the war between orengo ugenya mp and Tinga Langata mp.......it was exactly like joho uhuru drama. One time orengo was blocked from attending a rally in ugunja ugenya. .....the next thing orengo arrived in ugunja by matatu ...sema watu kula teargas. ........I'll never forget D.O who was the mc made a mistake of telling Raila his time was over and wanted to take mic give to the next mheshimiwa who was a minister ......sema Tinga kumwasha DO kofi. .......after the rally Orengo supporters started throwing stones but the police never responded just escorted waheshimiwa that was 5pm .........Wazito then came back in numbers and what happened next is history. Gsu did wonders both in town and local village such that the next time my mama heard there would be a rally we travelled. I can recall the following day on newspaper front page was a Gsu officer servicing a famous ugunja town mad man "oyiengo"
