And he didn't have an option in it even if he wanted to if he ever wanted to visit Finland again. Like here money do not buy you special rights. You might be something special at peace time when war comes you are the same meat as everyone else.
Most of us do want to do it, just that it always collides with your plans so if you don't get it done right away many moves it forward and forward but its easier if you are younger because you are less independent and have easier time looking at 2 other guys while doing your morning routine.

If he didnt do it, wouldnt matter whether he went back or not. USA would have sent him back to Finland for breaking the law.

@@PAULSGEO Finland has a very high percentage of citizens who are willing to fight against an "enemy" (Russia, most likely) in order to protect their homeland. It is not abuse of men in any way. If you want to you can choose civil service instead.

After a couple of months, he decides.. well I've done enough money and it is so cool in the army so I will stay longer to get some high officer rank

@@CorporalCookie But what if the Russians attack Finland and Lauri comes out of it a war hero? Major at least.

@@CorporalCookie It kinda is how it works in the Finnish military. You do your mandatory conscription service first. Then if you so choose, you can continue to a military academy, which is basically a university where you graduate as an officer. You can also continue working in the military as a non-commissioned officer depending of your skills etc. I doubt he will stay in Finland, though. He still likes to play basketball.

It’s funny he is the Marksman but seriously the sports school is under the Guards Jaeger Regiment and effectively is a Reconnaissance Company and they have forward observers and scout snipers so he might be an actual sniper soon.😂
