I've said this for a long time as a Pats fan, Dante Scarnecchia is hands down the most underappreciated coach of all time and in my eyes the greatest O-line coach of all time
😂 yeah, poor scarnecchia was appreciated in a way, he retired to spend time with his wife and was basically dragged back by RK and BB when he should have been on the beach he’s in Super Bowl LI and he’s on the mic’d up version “don’t do anything you can’t do, just focus on the next play”… that won them the comeback, the bowl and got me through exams and tricky situations!
Cant talk about scar because then you cant give tom brady every ounce of credit possible. Duh. Those offensive lines were great every year because tom brady makes the players around him better not because of a couple legendary coaches
I always noticed throughout the Pats dynasty that even if the O-line and RB cores weren't full of big names, they were always well coached and did their job well.
Coach Scar will always be a legend, O-line was always so consistent with him, it was noticeable in 2015 when he was gone and it’s very noticeable now that Tom is gone
Scarnecchia retired from the Pats in 2013, but even then was an unofficial staff member. The Pats actually talked him out of retiring in 2016, and he was officially part of the team for another 3 years before retiring for good.
I was never aware of Dante Scarnecchia until he retired in 2015. That year the Patriots were denied another trip to the Super Bowl with a loss to Denver in the AFC championship. The Pats o-line was broken in that game as the Broncos d-line won it by getting pressure on nearly every Brady dropback. His return and their subsequent championship in 2016 made me take notice.
Ernie Adams is another unsung hero. Any team is only as good as their offensive line. Controlling time of possession and the game boils down being able to give a running back 4-5 yards per play and giving a QB at least 3-4 seconds before he must throw the ball. If an offensive line can do this, the defense will be adequately rested and the offense will score consistently.
I don't even know how they do it. First of all, how big is their Data Base of video material lol. And then how do they search clips containing an assistant coach? Would be super interesting to know...
Love both of these dudes..we can all see the Pats struggles nowadays missing these guys. They don’t get enough appreciation being behind the scenes, but I appreciate the hell of out them
Had the pleasure of running into Scar at Logan airport a few years back. Was the nicest person and incredibly down to earth guy. I can easily see why players loved getting coached up by him
Their o-line didn't have the biggest names but was always consistent. RBs came to NE and became big names because of it. Lagarrette Blount was the best they had since Dillon, And he was thought to be washed up before going to NE. He and James White were CRUCIAL to those championships. Sony Michel was good too. I will never forget those years of dominance. I can still name the entire roster from 2010-present.
@@JonnyBoi12 if you are going to reference sony michel, then shane vereen deserves a mention without a doubt. Go watch SB 49 again and try to tell me he wasnt crucial in that game.
This explains everything! I always wondered why they had a bunch of nobodies on the O line and some okay RB’s but were incredibly consistent year after year. Goes to show you how much coaches matter.
Dante Scharnecchia, Bill Bellichick, Tom Brady - & from 2010 on Rob Gronkowski - are the keys to the Patriots dynasty. You saw how important Scharnecchia was to the team the one year he was gone in 2015.
Same reason they always found randoms to make serviceable contributions. Josh Kline, Bryan Stork, Dan Connolly, Cameron Fleming, LaAdrian Waddle, Marcus Cannon, Ryan Wendell, etc. Also same reason why Von Miller punked Marcus Cannon in the 2015 AFC Title game and the next season, the one where Scar came back, people were editing his Wikipedia page to say the “father” of Von Miller. It’s a special kind of magic.
Yeah, after the Butler interception, the running joke was about how Carroll always wanted to win the Super Bowl for the Pats and how he just got his wish!
Life's not fair, for 20 years I got to watch the best coaching in the NFL from defense to offense and always special teams. It's like god said ok now watch the absolute worst coaching in the NFL now..

Man, they have been with them when they were nobodies until the coming of Tom Brady - who almost single handily got that once embarrassing organization 6 SB's, who would have been at last 8 if not for the head coach. When you see those 6 trophies, they are all due to ONE man - Tom Brady. Name the stadium after him.
@@MichaelMurphy-kj3xf I understand that WITH Tom Brady - Bill is great! WIthout Tom Brady, Bill is just another coach who would go from team to team. Brady made Arians seem great and gifted him a Super Bowl.

And obviously the great one? Doesn’t say his name. I wouldn’t either of the reason we won six super bowls left the organization because y’all said he was done; finished. Than he turned around and won another Super Bowl despite you.

Thank you, coaches.
