The Heritage chrome edition has way too much chrome until you put white wall tires on it. Then "Bam" the chrome is perfect. IMHO, white walls are a must. Thank you Matt. Please keep the videos coming.
I've been a Honda guy all my life and have an old Shadow ACE as well as several other Hondas. The Heritage Classic is still the Harley that I would like to have. Beautiful bike! 👍
I traded in my 09 Road King for a 2020 Softail Heritage Classic last year and couldn’t be happier with my decision. Matt’s comment about the Heritage being a ,”If you know, you know bike”, is spot on. You have to ride one to understand.
That's always a hard conversation to have with people that are trying to decide between a Road King and a Heritage. They're so different yet they serve the same use-case. Glad you got on the right bike and you're happy with it.
My '23 Heritage is the seventh HD I've owned and by far my favourite. Can't see ever selling it. Only thing is the tank badges are like an afterthought, especially given how nice the rest of the tank graphics looked the last few years. I changed my badges for a late model Slim badge and now it's perfect!
Come on Matt, tell it like it is. It's the last of the true Harley cruisers. Unfortunately, the younger riders will buy any rolling crap bearing an HD badge. Bring back the Road King Classic.
I have a 2022 Heritage with a stage 3 and several other mods. It pretty much matches Jamie's blue RUclips bike with a ton of down low torque. Bike absolutely rocks. It's got a luggage rack and passenger back rest. I went for an understated blacked out look that matches its red and black paint scheme. Mine is a non-spoked rendition, and I like it that way. I like my bike's down low, blue collar vibe, in comparison to the Low Rider ST. As per usual great video.
I've commented before my first Harley was a 13 Heritage. I loved, loved, loved the look of that bike. The mini apes, floorboards, passing lamps, tall shield, leather bags. The whole thing screamed vintage motorcycle, and I was hooked. Until I started all day touring. It was not good (for me) at that. Excessive vibrations through the handlebars, uncomfortable seating, cramped passenger. Basically it was only good at commuting back and forth to work. So I traded it after a year for an Ultra. I am told the new frame is a night and day difference so if that's true then I highly recommend it as a good starter bike for anyone who's into that classic look. It's still the sexiest bike Harley makes IMO. ✌
😍 An ‘18+ blacked out Heritage is the most beautiful Harley ever made, IMO. Sadly, I don’t own one because I scrape too much. (Steep mountains, Switzerland) I went Low Rider ST. We really don’t spend that much time on the highways when the alternative is the Alps.
I always thought that the Deluxe was one of the most beautiful bikes Harley ever made, I really miss that bike. But your right, the Heritage is often overlooked. In recent years more of them have been blacked out which is cool, but I really do love the chromed out version with white walls. And I do like the ability to ride with or without the bags and windshield. Everybody raves about what a comfortable cruiser it is. I have a few friends that do a fair amount of distance touring on their Heritage, and they love it. Have always been a big fan of the classic Harley styling, it's just beautiful. I might have to add one of these soon.
I own the 03 100 year anniversary edition,Heritage Softail Classic and the bike is simply amazing,I’ve taken her all the way down the east coast from Ohio, and not a hiccup,be good to your bike and your bike will be good to you
My first HD is a 2019 Heritage. I love her! Just the right amount of chrome, customizable and fast. Just added a D&D Fat Cat exhaust and some new bags.. Sounds great, handles great, looks great! I have done hundreds of touring miles on her but I will get a bagger one day too, for the wind reduction, larger bags and music! But I'll never sell my first love.
This is the perfect video with a great explanation! The history of the Heritage Softail is truly rich, and I'm thrilled that my own travel stories are closely tied to this incredible bike. My first motorcycle was a Suzuki Volusia, on which I even managed to tour Crimea in Ukraine back in 2012. I always dreamed of owning a Harley, and eventually, I bought a Sportster. Two years later, I was eyeing the Street Glide, but I was persuaded to try a Softail instead. That’s when I found and purchased a 2005 Heritage Softail with the 88 Twin Cam engine. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! I've ridden over 60,000 miles on my Heritage and couldn’t be happier with its engine, comfort, and even off-road capability-yes, I often have to go off the beaten path to find the perfect camping spots. The Softail is the ideal bike for that!
@@MattLaidlaw Thanks for the kind words! I’ve been really enjoying your content-it's a great resource for riders. Do you think these bikes will be as legendary as EVO or Twin Cam in 20 years? I am talking not about engine only...
I've had the Dyna, Road Glide, Road king and 3 Heritage. I keep going back to the Heritage. Now living up here in Prescott AZ where the mountain roads are a little tight the Heritage handles well. Besides, I like the classic look better....Hey Matt, I bought 3 of these bikes from you when I lived in Walnut...Love your Dealership and Staff.
I have a 2018 anniversary model with the 114 and I love it. Sometimes I take the bags and windshield off. Plenty of power with just a set of slip ons. Otherwise it's completely as it came from the factory.
I had a 2019 Heritage with the 114 engine and loved it! I put a 2-1 Bassani black exhaust on it, a passenger back rest and rack. It was quick, comfortable and handled great! Highly recommend the Heritage! Only thing I would change is the spoked wheels….maybe the “new” simulated spoke style…
Great job as always Matt! I love my '17 Deluxe, same bike as you have there, Frosted Teal and Crushed Ice. which is part of my collection. Always loved the Heritage Softails! Kelly looks great on that nice black one, such a cutie!!
Great Video Matt! I feel like the Heritage is a great bike for the cost too. My wife bought a 2020 new it now has 62k miles. She loves it! She watched this video with me and loved all you said about her bike and loved the cutaway of the suspension! Keep up all the great work you do! Harley forever!
I bought my first Harley in 2018 and it was the Heritage. The style and the main reason the M8. Such a great bike. it is a classic bike. some buy it and put touring racks on it etc. or replace some of the legacy look which is a shame. that what it is. Only thing about this bike is the spokes needed to be addressed periodically as they will start to rust some. Terrific bike.
Now thats how you do it. Great job Matt. I have a 2003 softail chromed out, camed softail and a 2019 tri Glide with a 131 motor. It is time for a new bike will do the 2025 model and may come from NC to LA just want a bike from east LA.
Why they got rid of the roadking is beyond me? The touring chassis would fit my large size better than a heritage, but great video and music as always.
I always loved the Road King, personally. I have to say however, that the Heritage has been growing on me! You can still tour on it, but with substantially less weight, better handling and better stock suspension. I also think you get better color choices, the 114 and LED’s as well. I never really was fond of the style of bags, but they can always be changed. I’m a huge fan of the classic styling and if I ever had one, it would most definitely have white walls and a very similar setup to what you’ve shown in this video. And yes, louder pipes! 🙌😂
I rides mostly Harley Davidsons my whole life. Love my 2021 Heritage 107. Great bike, got about 14000 miles on the clock now. But I really do miss the overdrive in the 6th gear so much!!! If you’re on highway speed (or a little bit faster;)) it rumbles your a** off… needs lower rpm! Other than that it’s just awesome:) Thanks Matt Regards from Matt (also) 😎
Wish the Heritage came with an option for cast wheels. They came with them in 22 when they had trouble getting the laced wheels but went right back to the laced in 23. I get the laced look better but I'd give them up in in a second for ease of maintenance of cast and the ability to plug a flat tire.
I like the detail you provide in your reviews, like where bikes fit in the line up, and recent changes. I think the Road King makes the best base for the Vicla look, shame it's out of the range at the moment.
Have 2018 Heritage and my only styling gripe is the license bracket that sticks up like a billboard. Run solo without rear seat. Keep hitting it with my leg when mounting.
I rent Harley Davidsons in Kansas City, MO and the Heritage and Low Rider ST are the best renters. Plenty of power, but comfortable to cruise or tour. A 2018 was also my first Harley Davidson.
Personally I am not a “club” or “coast” style guy but bikes like the heritage, road king, and deluxe can pull off a lot of different things and be taken a lot of different directions and not look terrible. The tombstone taillight on the deluxe was one of my favorite bike specific features. I have a road king special and the look your gal Danielle did to hers isn’t my look personally but she loves it and a road king can pull almost anything off.
If you know you know. I test rode the 23 model year black out engine in marine blue with red and grey stripe. Man the smiley on my face was epic. But I think if « a black out/ chrome » finish on the fxlrst was available. Could be a very difficult choice to me personaly. I’m gonna test ride the road King cause… well you know you know. 😂
I wish Harley brought back the Springer. That would be amazing. Or take a Breakout and have a SugrBear front end put on. Can it be done? I own a 2015 Road Glide Special original owner and plan on a new bike in the near future.
Hey Matt! I traded my 2021 Street Glide Special for the 120th Anniversary Edition Heritage. I had been wanting the Low Rider ST back in ‘21 but it wasn’t available then so I bought the street glide. It just didn’t suit both my stature and I don’t do so much highway riding. I’m a sucker for a pretty face so I got the Heritage Anniversary Edition. Still wanting the Low Rider ST though!
What seat do you recommend for me and my wife to put in long trips on our 2023 Heritage? We have the stock seat now. We do okay, but my wife starts to fidget and get uncomfortable fairly quickly.
My brand new high quality Heritage is leaking oil like its an old BMW.... Out of the cylinders, the oil cooler... she is a dripper. Not even 500km on it. Completly regretting the 30k€ Ive just spend on that damn thing. Quality made in Thailand hey. If you cant tell, Im a bit pissed
Those ridiculous ape hanger style bars just look so ungainly and with dangerous handling - maybe they're ok in a straight line, but a liability on anything like a corner, particularly a sharp corner. Though Kelly did make it look bloo*dy good i have to admit !!!
Beautiful bike, I’ve always loved the softail and have owned many. But no more until Harley Davidson kicks Zeitz to the curb and denounces all this woke DEI crap. GO WOKE, GO BROKE!
Yeah, his globalist views aren’t really conducive to the Harley fan base. Also his business model, selling fewer bikes are higher price points to portray the feel of a premium brand…. Especially now in this economy, who is going to spend 20-30k on a bike when majority of dual income households can barely afford to keep afloat… especially more so here in Cali.
Cool story. So with that logic what other companies are you boycotting, but still watching videos of them online? I expect at least 10-15 more companies on your list
The two bikes are beautiful, but who mounted those handle bars? Utterly ridiculous and dangerous! You can’t control a bike in corners with your hands as high up as your head! The one with the windshield is beautiful too, the one you comepare it to with this plastic crap upfront ugly thing is hideous! Who came up with that stuff? I would die of shame, move to another country if somebody saw me with that! No wonder Harley is loosing its marketshare! Geez!

Best bike for city and highway cruising. Old school looks with modern features.

Yea the 18 model year + frame is 100 times better. That being said the ultra limited is still a more comfortable touring machine.

She fills those jeans, just right.
They took away the mag wheel option. Got one flat tire on a trip with spoked wheels. Don’t want that again.
The Heritage Classic probably would have been my second choice, but I couldn't pass up my RKS
I feel the same way with the sport glide. My sport glide with the memphis shades road warrior is amazing. But people sleep on them for some reason.
Once again Matt...great info and video. Primo choice on the 'model' for the riding scenes, not necessarily the bike btw 😋

The best good looking "cholo" style sleds are the traditional softail ones, pre-m8
Kelly La Chikla got a new bike, ❤ Factory 47s????? I thought you was a SCC, hopefully see some chikla pipes on you new bike.
Soft tail cholo FTW!
The new frame might be "better" but the style took a nose dive. Nothing looks like the original Softtail.

Is that plastic on the front fender?
Which bars are those?
