  • Nathaniel Rateliff took the world by storm with his hit song, “S.O.B.” and is now a household name. Before he was selling out multiple nights at Red Rocks Amphitheater, he was a janitor, trucker, and landscaper. When he put all his chips on the table to pursue music, it clearly paid off. Lance and Nathaniel sat down at the Skylark Lounge in Denver, which Rateliff co-owns, to have a down-to-earth conversation about how he got here.

"Thank you for still sitting down with me after watching that documentary about what I'm really sorry to have done" would have been more gracious than "I haven't gotten away with very much in my life." We all make mistakes, but the fact that Armstrong cheated, essentially demanded his teammates cheat, and then viciously slandered any writer, trainer, teammate, teammate's wife, etc. who told the truth for years and is able to sit down with a humble, hard-working gem like Nathaniel Rateliff for his podcast that he's using to sell apparel and mattresses is certainly getting away with a lot.

To have someone as amazing as Nathaniel Rateliff on your show, and all you do is continually interrupt him and talk over him. You need to work on your listening skills. Great speakers are, first, even better listeners.
