We need more videos like this, just sounds and no bullshit, this is perfect, thank you!
I've owned and used alot of analogs and virtual/digital synth's. Fore the virus was the most interesting and satisfying virtual analog due to its very unique and recognisable sound. Its build quality is also in a different league compared to other hardware synth's. These will be very desirable synth's in years to come as people revisit the nostalgia fest of the late 90's and early 2000's. Expect that within the next 10 years
They have always been desirable and despite accesses drop in support they are still being made
5 years and discovering this is the top synth of my dreams!
I strongly recommend the Virus. If you can bite the price bullet, you can't really beat it. I've found it to be extremely versatile with both bright and dark tones.
I love this synth with all my heart
Also, I have a physical body. It's hard for me to express myself without engaging it entirely. For me, my body is necessary for musical expression. I can't simply "think" music into existence - at least not as a performer.
iPads have the best GUIs ever, but a GUI is never going to replace actual physical interaction. The more I can hit a key or button, with varying amounts of aggression to express myself, the better. My expression needs to be instantaneous without any intermediary.
all of these sounds are cool, but between like 4 and 6 minute mark, there are so many times when i was pleading with my laptop that you wouldn't move onto the next synth haha, such incredible tones and your playing is so fresh.
Nice demo, good overview of the TI... sounds great!
I think what it boils down to is productivity. If you can be musically productive (not just dicking around, but actually releasing artistic music that speaks and expresses yourself), it doesn't matter what you use to accomplish that.
To that end, I have a lot experience with both, and from what I've experienced and seen in others, hardware is FAR from "dead". Everyone who I've met who says it is, spends most of their time dicking around and never actually producing anything.
Now I have it!! It's been 6yrs wow 😎
great playing, and I love it how everyone needs to say what it reminds them of :)
this dude is so good
Wow almost 100K Views...wish i can get that on some of my Vids...LOL...Awesome Video..I really like the Virus sounds...just picked one up myself the Virus Ti2 Desktop....Amazing Little Fellow....Keep up the great work...
Many thanks and respect for sharing this video.
It depends what you need. Nord is great for pianos and electric pianos, that's what it specializes in. I have a nord electro 4 for rhodes sounds, I'll never use it as a synthesizer. The minimoog is monophonic, meaning that you can only play one note at a time; this is good for leads. Moogs are also analog synthesizers which give them a much warmer deeper tone. You'll have to decide between analog and digital. The virus and prophets on the other hand are polyphonic (many). Great for pads
Nice demo --- I just ordered one.
Excellent demo man...thanks for sharing
Jack of all trades, master of none.
The Virus TI is the master of ambient, but you don't get to hear that in this video.
очень хорошо показаны звуки, классный обзор!
i really like the song you start playing at the beginning 00:04 with the funky breakdown at 00:35 I could listen to 10mins of that.
I am going to get mine this weekend.
2 years later... How do you like it?
I love it 😊
2:47 "Mr Nice Watch" -J Cole & Jay Z
man, I thought I had the coronavirus but actually had this one.
i am using the virus for all my productions. great sounds.
for anyone shitting on it, just stawp. When you've used one you'll understand why the people who love this synth really love it....
"I heard Tipper uses an Access Virus, so I bought an Access Virus"
best sounding synth ever
sounds so amazing
This is a very good synth and not to much expansive, each year new OS, etc... I like this synth and recommand it Very good demo
I agree, however, in fairness:
1. People don't always avoid hardware out of preference. Sometimes it's a budget issue. We certainly can't all afford a Prophet 5. My argument is that, some hardware is high quality AND cheap, and will never stop working due to an uncooperative operating system (i.e. further expense). Once it's paid for, it's paid for.
2. You don't need to rely on an iPad's converters. You can bypass them digitally, so output doesn't have to be an issue.
Otherwise, I agree 100%.
For all analogue Guys, the souns of the Virus is definitely not analogue and it's definitely not ment to be, it has it's own caracter!
Exept nord lead and virus, analog is also for me, but those two manufactures are the king of the hill with VA synths. saving up for a virus now :) will have it replace the sylenth1 vst..witch i really love to use.
I'm not crazy about analogue. It seems like a fad, 'cause everybody is so over-the-top and snobbish about it. That's when you know something is a fad, because extreme snobbishness seems to stem from a large amount of people all agreeing on one thing. Analogue is fine, but I prefer VA.
@Blob B They sound better for you. I prefer VA.
The one disadvantage hardware has is that it takes space. That might not seem like an issue until you have enough hardware to match the tonal variety that is easy to achieve with a well stocked laptop, and decide to move to a new apartment. Any self knowing pack-rat has come to learn that after several years of accumulating gear. That said, if you can afford it, have the space for it, anything you can use to make music that people dig is fair game.
try one by yourself in a musicstore. the sound quality is amazing.
very nice :)
The virus sound is amazing. Great presets, but make your own sounds that's where the real magic is. I have a Snow.
5:05 to 5:10 is amazing
Really make a whole track out of this one!
You know, people are entitled to their opinions. The cost is up there, but I wouldn't trade mine for anything. It definitely isn't perfect, and I have a variety of other synths to tackle other things. But when you look at all it can do, great features, and the fact that it is one sexy beast. You really can't go wrong with it. :)
very nice - well done - nice performance
This is the same model Mike Shinoda uses! #LinkinPark #VirusTI
Super Sounds!!!
4:45 lovin' it!
Amazing synth the only issue I had was the Total Integration kept crashing my laptop and Ableton. I returned the synth after 30 days.
(Watches video) - This looks cool!
(Reads Comments) - Huh... lots of complaints about price.
(Checks Sweetwater and comes back to post this emoji) - 😳
This is a hardware synth. Still waiting for another company to be close. I guess there is a reason why Access don't do a TI3ish release. They already won and nobody even tries to compete.
str8 up
It's a software inside a keyboard using DSPs to run that software and a sound card. Sorry but no hardware filters ..
The new Hydrasynth though... gosh!
The real reason is that you just don't make cash with VA synths anymore. Sadly. I definitely think the Virus still has the edge over most soft synths these days. Not because the modelling or technology is better, it's actually pretty outdated... but, because the sound character is better. That's something only the least soft synths get right.
That is a great piece of kit 👍
More like Access to heaven!
This is oddly satisfying ..
Trance powerhouse
The virus is as expensive as it is elegant, is it the end all synth, depends on personal interest. It is full of surprises, I'm into aleatoric sound and it fits it well. Like it or not it may very well be a classic. Besides a used original ti can be had for about a grand, far less than I paid. As for vst vs hardware who cares, it in the hands anyways. Nice demo.
I have one of these, the TI2 Darkstar. It's my first wavetable synth. Programming it alone without the software takes time to get use to it.. yes, i'm mostly on multi edit mode. It's not bad just takes some time to get use to.
I have a normal 61 keyboard model 🙂
Isn't that the same with most new hardware? There's always a learning curve.
Pico Ferret this one for sure compared to Odyssey
Totally worth the price. Who even competes?
Good sounds gotta say
One can always tell when the younger crowd starts commenting... lol. Sounds very cool but does seem somewhat overpriced... I'm also digging the ANALOG KEYS. Nice demo.
damn, I want one. And one day I have it.
I have to know: did you ever get it?
wow. i really like the riff at 0:17 i want someone to use that in a song!
Above are two songs which use that type of sound. Planet Perfecto - Bullet in the Gun, and Sasha - Xpander.
Poteżny sprzet,nie dla amatora,
Hey guys, you sreally should try this amazing kayboard. The keys are great, and easy to program
Stephan, you seems to know what you're talking about. What synth would you propose then for trance, goa and psychedelic trance, tekno, ambient, downtempo, any tb 303 music? Both old skool and new school vibe. I really like the old skool era when everything was very melodic, repetitive, hypnotic, trancendental and progressive, unlike the noisy stuff we get nowdays from electro house/dubstep and any new house/trance really.
Nik Bray Both Romplers not synths.
Fun: yes. Musical: so-so.
One of the best gear in my studio and the Total Integration (TI) seems working fine these days :)
Good to learn synhtesis
I have not tried these iPad VAs. But I would be surprised an iPad has the same sonic processing power a dedicated VA has. An iPad processor is meant to be a low power processor for basic computing tasks. These things probably have a dedicated DSP and maybe a higher powered higher performance CPU...I could be wrong of course, but I doubt it.
On my list of synths to get if I win the lottery.
It's a good synth but believe me, you will get sick of the sound fairly quickly. I used to have one. It does not come anywhere close to a Moog. When you take away the effects the sound is actually quite thin!
Yeah I agree nothing compares to the warm analog sound of a Moog, I used to have an Alesis Ion and I loved all the knobs but it always ended up sounding thin, I still learned a lot using it.
RAPEE APE Yeah it's too bad I can't afford that warmth so I'll have to settle for the microbrute and volca keys
nonsense, you can get a close sound with most soft synths. but fuck..even soft synth can be expensive. Dune 2 is 200 bucks. and Arturia makes some cool shit too. i forgot to mention. emulations of Jupiter 8 and minimoog
Wow. And the new analog beast Korg Prologue 16 voice version is in the shadow of the Polar for price, apparently inferior.
Hello mate, just watched your video on the souns on the virus - love it! Great video, the bells/ chimes at 2:42, love them. What are they exactly? Do they come with the virus or did you make it? I'm in love with the sound
4 years later. This guys clearly doesn't respond to his comments.
amazing
Nice synth engine !
This may be old now, but it's still one of the top synths I want. Novation Peak, Analog Four MkII, Access Virus Ti2 desktop module, maybe Ultranova if it was smaller or had a desktop version. I want something I can drive and configure from an external sequencer, doing multiple tracks, ideally multitimbral, with good sound and good hands-on controls for patch design and some performance tweaking.
I got a Novation Peak after using U-he and Omnisphere I still use them all. The Peak does higher res waveforms but has a loud noise floor.
I've occasionally heard people mention a high noise floor on the Peak, but from what I gather, it's not really any higher than other analog equipment. With analog, any patches with poor gain staging will have noise. Is it just that, or is there something deeper involved?
Like, I have an OP-1 and it's a great sketch pad, but it has obnoxiously loud noise whenever it's plugged into USB so I have to record other stuff into it when it's not plugged in, and this means no midi when the line-in jack is turned on. It's pretty annoying. But I haven't encountered anything like that on my other gear. On most stuff, I only get noise if I turn the oscillator volume down and then amplify the entire signal.
Great demo! Any recommendations on where to learn some of these go-to chops, particularly the funk/techno/jazzy ones?
Buena, te paleteaste , mostraste todos los sonidos, muchas gracias por tu demostracion XD
Love this. I want one. tyvm.
Wish I never sold mine, I did just buy a TI snow hopefully it’s the same
I think acces virus is the best I ve got ti keyboard and is my masterpiece
9:47 X-Files!
and Goddamn! this thing can do anything!
The access virus sadly these days is old been and gone so many new hardware digital synths have left it in the dirt. My darkstar is more of an ornament in my studio these days that I occasionally dust off but hasn't had any juice running through its veins in many moons lol Kemper are all about guitar amps these days. and the virus sound has been used to death. My main synths these days comes from Roland and Moog. I would never get rid of my dark star. Im sure it be worth money in years to come still in mint fresh condition. but it's not all about the virus for digital stuff. Virus used to be a Secret Weapon that most people would keep hush. notice how many famous producers are now open about using it because they aren't using it anymore hahah
While VST have increased quality, I dont agree with the statement that they have left the TI behind, for a while now, I tend to do tutorials which use sylenth or serum on the virus ti and man... what comes from thw virus is pure gold... awesome beast specially if yoy design sounds from scratch... the Fx are still awesome too.
im impressed by both you and the synth. i really want to know how much was you improvising and how much is other peoples songs
IMHO soft synths some how aren't comparable, at least the ones I tried. I recently bought soft tube modular and avenger: what I don't like is the aliasing in the higher notes thought. Wish it could've been released as a plugin with oversampling
I agree, but believe me, it's happening all over the place already.
This is a killer synth from what I hear even just as a sound module and I already own a Yamaha Motif 7 72 Key Synth /Sampler Bought brand new which never lets me down but I do like to hear what else is l out there or what else I could do software wise with my computer ...if anyone has any Ideas I'm wondering today what soft synths are good?
Nexus, SynthMaster 2.6. Kontakt has tons of good analogue synth sample libraries. Sylenth has some decent sounds. Gladiator is good. Omnisphere is decent. But mainly those first 3 I mentioned.
Try Reveal Sound Spire. I know some serious music industry-involved guy from Israel who traded his Virus TI for this softsynth.
Gizmoriderful Ye You don't have to flare and be nasty... Im a dam Multi -instrmetalist and have been involved in music for 30 years you can Buy My CDs at 50 places all over the Internet but I remain in the underground you can here me on my space if you dare and I don't hide my face....so watch it watch your English........
Darrin Pollard
First of all, I am sorry if I offended you. But, you obviously do not have clue about Omnisphere. The massiveness of its sampled sounds is anything that cannot be compared to any vst in world. There is 2 "channels"(my term), which you can add from them together, including waveforms and stuff. I mean, One "channel" sample, other channel "waveform", which you can tweak as much as you can. It is the ultimate instrument at the moment. That was just an example. Not to mention, 8-10 slot effect stack you can use. Omnisphere is the ultimate VST, no doubt.
S Cruz Alright no prob.....end.....
Can we talk about latest update on access website and a huge problem for Catalina Mac users with access haven’t done any update in almost 2 years .... why we don’t talk about forcing people not to move to others operation system .... can we please talk about that don’t get me wrong they are great synths
Looking to buy one
1:33 !
Are these synths worth getting.... I used to own a virus KC and I didnt really like it all that much... but now people seem to be going nuts over these things :P
I fukin hate my virus indigo presets. You have to program it to love the board. Just have no time.
Is there any guide to understand all those damn buttons and knobs??!
What would be the closer alternative to this in price terms? it sounds amazing but I feel it is too expensive
Reveal Sound Spire, if you're into VST synths. It doesn't sound like a Virus per say, mainly because the effects in the Virus sound much better. The virus also has some stuff that Spire doesn't have, like a global unison mode. But if you use Spire with high quality external effects, then Spire will sound really nice. One reason why the Virus sounds so nice is because of the effects that comes with the Virus. If you buy some good VST FX, then you will be able to make most soft synths sound great.
But if you look for a hardware synth, then I guess the Waldorf Blofeld is an alternative. I don't own one myself, maybe I will buy one next year. But I've heard that the internal/onboard FX in the Blofeld are quite bad. But I've heard some nice patches played on it, I recommend looking at musictrackjp's videos on the Blofeld.
I bought the Novation MiniNova (which is monotimbral though) and the FX in that synth is really bad (but I have good VST fx that I can use together with the MiniNova). But the MiniNova itself, with good external FX, sounds really nice.
Sylenth 1
Get Dune 3. Pretty sexy
Can anyone tell me whether people buy these for the lush sounding pads? Im in the market for a good pad synth and was wondering if this was the best one the synth world has to offer.
there is no best. the quality of pad you make comes down to your own creativity and knowledge of synthesis. but yeah, I'd imagine that this would make a pretty good pad synth.
I saved 10000 SEK and bought the Moog Sub 37 instead.
I sure wish it was more affordable. these seem very high prices for digital.
Danielle Scribbins I hear people say that quite a lot, some of those are still looking for stuff after having a lot of Cheeper gear, such as the Volca range. Add all those puppies together and capabilities wise you're way off the Virus TI, cost wise you're about 3rd the way there already.
The Virus TI isn't for everyone, but the people I know who have one have never regretted it, it's 16 multitimbral with full DAW integration, works like a dream, it's also an impressive beast for live shows. The amount of sound you can get from the oscillators is truly mind boggling, between Classic, Hypersaw, Wavetable, Formant plus like 3 others, all with tones of OSC types, you certainly get bang for your buck in the form of an interplanetary cannon.
People compare this to the argument of, "Well I can buy 3 VST's and still have money left over" That's correct, but you're heavily reliant on a pretty beefy computer if you want to perform, you'll also need to purchase an interface + midi controllers, factoring in that no matter how good a mini controller is, you'll never have full control over a VST, the acts I perform with where I use one, I can edit sounds without the need of hanging onto a computer screen, you can also always sell the Virus TI if you so desire, they hold their value extremely well. Something you can't do with VST's.
Polar is the synth i liked most, but the Total Integration did not work very stable.
I think, get Reason 10 and a midi keyboard and have fun with breathtaking possibilities, incl. Grain Synth.
Very stable, performant, and endless possibilities. 350€.
No need for Hardware Synths nowadays at all - only if you have too much money and boredom .
Yeah, the iPad's not going to survive that. I'm surprised you haven't seen it already.
I still like your video much even though I complained no offense.
Synthesizer Made in Germany !

HOME - Resonance
Is it all without a computer?
Hey, great video. What's the patch at 10:18 called?
For value for money its better to stay in software.. But theres very few if any hardware synths that match the virus in possibilities and yeah, knobs!!
7:01 The Dark Crystal...
I so desperately want this little beast... but that pricetag :(
Woah :O Make a song!!!
Check out our future sounds for the virus
八木沼サウンドはこの楽器から生まれているのか…
もう5、6代目になるって言ってましたね。
satさんのサウンドはvirusがないと成り立ちませんし、わざわざ何度も買い直しているところに愛着を感じますよね~
