Prophet Ibrahim knows what is better for his son as he went through the biggest of tests and knows well by the will of Allah what is good for his son to be a good prophet. Additionally, she complained to someone else and not confronting and keeping the problem only to the husband himself. I as a husband, would feel so insulted t knowing that I am trying my best to provide for her and she complained about the outcome of my efforts even if she keeps it only between us. Let's put a grain of salt on the pain, she complained it to someone else as well. Bear in mind that she didn't even know who the old man(Prophet Ibrahim AS) was. She just complained to a stranger (to her) In terms of effort, let alone a prophet because they always try the best to fulfill the rights of others. It is like this, I am working day to night and only able to put a piece of loaf for her. Then she complained how bad the loaf is. I would be way beyond broken hearted knowing how ungrateful she is to Allah. In addition to that how she doesn't care about what I as her husband feel. Prophet Ismail AS without a doubt put more effort than every single man today could, yet she complained of what he has worked hard for? That is not a good sign for someone who wants to be a wife of a prophet. A prophet's life is full of the hardest of tests and what she faced isn't even all of it. I never really understood why Ibrahim ordered his son to leave his wife. She didn't say anything bad about his son. She just told him the truth about how life is going. And if you think about those times. It was really hard. A normal person would say the same things if asked. She was living with his son still, not taking a khulla and going. If sharing your life problems makes a woman bad enough to not be a wife then nobody on earth is good.
But at the same time keep in mind this is a family of prophets so the situation might've been different, Ibrahim probably knew that his son needed a woman who can endure hardship because he knew the added pressure of being a prophet AND being in a harsh environment is too much for anyone to bare so he wanted it easier for him. At least that's what I think.

@@TheLightofHaqqnah if a mistake of a HUMAN makes you want to divorce your wife then it is understandable why many women dont want to get married...and in Islam parents dont have the right over their childrens marriages and private lives and Prophet Ibrahim is a Moslem...people really should stop thinking that men particularly husbands are superior to women and wives...and i dont think the incident is shahih or really happened anyway...
