Thank you for explaining the Japanese Yen so simply!! I planned a trip to Japan in Dec. 2020, but because of Covid, it was canceled. I am not starting to plan another trip to Japan, and one of my concerns was understanding the Dollar vs the Yen. I have no worried now!! Thanks again!!
I was already making the connection before you added the decimal points and zeros. Nice! I’ve been wanting to visit Japan for a while, but I’ve recently decided to make it a reality. Studying up and educating myself on, language, culture, and cost. I doubt I’ll be fluent in the Japanese language, but hopefully I’ll be able to get by.

In 2022, the value of the Russian ruble and the Japanese yen starts to even out meaning there is little difference between them. 2008 value for both currencies ₽1 = ¥4.55 $1 = ₽23.79 $1 = ¥108.17 ₽5,000 = $210.17 ¥10,000 = $92.45 2022 value for both currencies ₽1 = ¥1.09 $1 = ₽106.01 $1 = ¥115.46 ₽5,000 = $47.17 ¥10,000 = $86.61

great video, this was easy to learn 👍 😀 👏, am disabled and i understood this, but I have to know, will the money exchange machine work with out a debit card, what i mean is: can you put your usd money in a money exchange machine and get yen from it, just asking, because I want to learn how to do that, thanks...
Hello, so I’m trying to buy a Nendoroid on a Japanese website but I didn’t know how much ¥6,600 yen is in usd dollars 😅 may I ask how much that is:) thank you!
I am 12 but i want to learn this at young bc i have time on my hands to learn about yen and how to speak japanese bc when im older i want to move to japanese so when i am in japan i wont have a hard time learning while i do work and what not. And i do have a question when you firt move to japan where would be the best place for me to work at? And should i get a house or a apartment, because i would like to live in japan.
I'm not going to Japan, but I found this video because I always wondered: "Why do some currencies, like Japanese Yen, lack cents?" In the US and Canada (for instance), you hear about various dollar and coin (cents) denominations, yet in Japan you never hear about that. In North America, something might $58.99, but you'll never see something marked like that (with the cents) in Japan, so I was wondering why that is and if North America is unusual for having cents or maybe other nations are unusual for not having it. Regardless, I found your video to b quite helpful and interesting. You're excellent at teaching and explaining the differences between American and Japanese currencies.
North America isn't unusual for having subunits ("cents"), pretty much all currencies have 100 subunits. However many currencies like the Philippine Peso have lost so much value that they no longer produce physical money for these subunits since they're worthless, although they still exist in the digital world. Where the Yen differs is that their subunits no longer exist at all, not even in digital banking, which to my knowledge the Yen is the only currency like this but makes me wonder why we even have subunits in the first place? At the end of the day money is just a number to measure value, there's no real reason to divide it between dollars and cents, Japan's economy works just fine with their singular unit, the Yen
Japan will replace all it's currency with new coins and bills. Coins start this year in 2021 and bills in 2024. Also I think you can request the 2000 yen bill at the bank. They are still made or were at least a few years ago.

My question is, why did the Japanese decide to use a unit of monetary measure that's so small? It would be like Americans saying, yes your McDonald's meal will be a thousand pennies please.

great video, this was easy to learn 👍 😀 👏, am disabled and i understood this, but I have to know, will the money exchange machine work with out a debit card, what i mean is: can you put your usd money in a money exchange machine and get yen from it, just asking, because I want to learn how to do that, thanks...
And should i get a house or a apartment, because i would like to live in japan.
save up for a house, it’s so much better than renting an apartment so you won’t get stressed about bills and stuff
@@shob8516There are many countries that don't have subunits in their currency such as pesos in Mexico, and baht in Thailand
Hour funny… I enjoyed your video. Thanks
Thank you for such a wonderful , educational and cultured video. Cool video. ^_^
In simpler terms convert everything into cents. So for an example $20 = 2,000 cents. Then replace the word cents with Yen
Japan will replace all it's currency with new coins and bills. Coins start this year in 2021 and bills in 2024.
Also I think you can request the 2000 yen bill at the bank. They are still made or were at least a few years ago.
can you make a updated version??? for 2024
might do so!

Is 100’000 Yen equivalent to 1,000 USD?
I just need a way to confirm my math is right.
Google keeps saying it’s 670.whatever.

This doesn't sound very fun; a yen is the same a cent?
US $0.01 = JP $1.04 Yen
its 100yen they are equivalent in value too btw so the same thing you would get for 1 dollar in the US is 100 yen(still one dollar) in japan
So I’m thinking of selling my house in the USA it’s worth 50,000 to 80,000 I asked Siri what that was in Japanese yen and I got over 7 million yen is that like 7,000 or 70,0000 in us $ 🤔
Thanks for commenting. 700,000 would be an incredible high amount!

How much for a Mazda 6 Straight off the factory floor and brought to Ohio
Maybe someday I’ll visit Japan
My question is, why did the Japanese decide to use a unit of monetary measure that's so small? It would be like Americans saying, yes your McDonald's meal will be a thousand pennies please.
Thanks for commenting. I'm not really sure. There are a lot of coins here though. The bills don't start until it hits 1,000 yen.
