Now, THIS is how a tire comparison is done! Glad to see that you kept the setup similar and used a foam that is popular and readily available (would have preferred CI foams so you could adjust foam size but nit picking). Thanks for the video! 👍
Great shootout Logan! I'm excited to see how the 5.25" cut-n-shut Krawlers stack up. I've run the Pitbulls and they work great, but I've yet to find a tire that beats your cut-n-shut Krawlers in my area (lava rock and basalt with lots of loose dirt and sand in between).
When those Pit Bulls come back in stock on AMain, I will grab a set to try. Right now I'm having great success with those new Vanquish VXT2's (1.9). It'll be time to finally install those Traxxas links too.
Awesome video Logan! This was an impressively long and information dense video, while still being super entertaining and engaging. Very well done-keep it up my friend!
I agree with your rankings and am very much looking forward to the cut & shut video. I have 3 pairs of 1.9x4.75 Tusks waiting to make 2.2x??? Tusks. It would be great to see your process!
Great comparison. i appreciate the amount of time it took to perform, video and edit this test. My experience has been this with my Capra; First, the stock Nitto tires aren't horrible but both my Pitbull Growler A/T 1.9s and RC4WD Mickey Thompson Baja Pro Xs are better in every way. I have the growlers on my Gen8 V2 and it climbs like a goat now. The RC4WD Baja Pro Xs are very soft and the outer lugs do fold over when under heavy load. That said, they still climb a smidge better than the Pitbulls. Don't laugh but I inadvertently bought 2.2" Pro-Line Mickey Thompson Baja Pro Xs and they are just too big for the Capra so I stuck them on my highly modified Danchee Ridgerock (my first crawler) and it climbs like a Ninja now. Simply remarkable! The added ground clearance didn't seem to affect my CG at all. I have 1.9 Pro line MT Baja Pro Xs arriving tomorrow and I'm looking forward to seeing how they perform on the Capra. Thanks again for the great content!
@@westdesertwheeler Logan, just a quick follow up on the Pro line MT Baja Pro X's in 1.9" size. I have one session on them in 34 degree temps on granite and quartz rocks....and they are fantastic. They outclimbed the Pitbulls and the RC4WD Pro Xs. Not by much, but they certainly did better, and in cold temps no less. The slightly stiffer lugs bit in and drug the Capra up and over ledges that I've never been able to get over before. All the listed tires are great and I plan to wear them all down into slicks;-)
@@westdesertwheeler I may be a bit biased because my Capra is my all time favorite vehicle I own but I’ve always loved your style of vid makes me feel like I’m there on the rocks with you . Thank you again for your hard work and content . Btw you were the reason I got my Capra haha horizon should bust out their check book cause I know I’m not the only one you heard this from 😂
I have a set of miles star’s on my rochobby 1/6 Jeep, ran it yesterday on wet sandy rock and was shocked how well that were working. Maybe being heavier made a difference I don’t know, but they worked and even pulled a line no one else was able to do in there 1/6
Another great video Logan. The cut-n-shut Hyrax tires you did for me are amazing in my area. Also, the new camera resolution is considerably much better.
nice job... looking at putting the Pro line Mickey Thompson Baja Pro X 1.9 on my Punk 3D Capera 4WS built. They are 4.88 inches tall and will be mounting them on 2.2 wheels.
Love this vid. It's crazy because the Patagonia are my favorite tire and pitbull is my second favorite but the Patagonia have more bite in my area and type of rocks and seen them suffer in other places of the worlds and rock types. Love this hobby.
I love the rc4wd Wrangler MT/R in the 4.75. Now there is snow on the ground I'm looking at the 2.2s. They are a bit tall, but for winter driving I think they will work.
Have u tried or planning to try the rc4wd pro x’s? For my area they seam to out do all te others I’ve ran.. 🤷♂️ bout to try some 2.2’s for my Capra but I’m gonna try the proline’s. But my lcg loves the rc4wd pro x’s. Great video man keep up the great work/content Also I run priceys custom crawler shocks. And my Capra is stretched front and rear with priceys high clearance links.. and the traxxas rod ends. But also depends on terrain.. and I’m at a 80mm droop. Right now the Capra has the og hb rovers (white dot) and I’m running squid’s inserts.
Logan, love how informative and entertaining your vids are! This is exactly what I needed. I pilfered the 1.9 wheels off my Capra, to use on my UTB18 (baby cap) leaving me with 2.2 to use for the big guy. Have been trying to find a good size 2.2 and the Pit Bulls fit the bill perfectly, and apparently rock. Have you done anything with your UTB18 yet? Would love to see some of your magic worked there! Cheers!
I lowered my SAVAGE XL by putting fuel line on the inside shaft, it does add preload so I swapped for softer springs. Just enough to level the dog bones.
There's a guy on here it's channels called crawler Canyon really believes in those Traxxas Canyon Trails but he does this cut thing to him and then like take some of the tread out
Hello, thank you for this video! I have berserkers 1.9 on my enduro, but I cannot get the performance you are presenting here - I guess I should train more! I noticed your rig runs much more stable, I am wondering if you have any video explaining how to setup shocks, which oil to choose, angle and so on. Thank you so much!
In fairness on that one ledge climb at 16-19 minutes roughly, the pit bulls climbed using the right wall slightly, and hit the top ledge in the crack just right to go right over, the other tires when they hit the exact same line using the right wall a little they seemed to climb up just the same.. would have been interesting to see if the pit bulls could climb it in the left face only, not using the right wall/crack.
No Ruptures? Would be curious to see another comparison between 1.9 G8 Krawlers, Cut’n’shut Krawlers, and some Ruptures. Maybe even throw in some Trenchers. 😂 lots of tires to compare. Thanks for the great videos.
Hi Logan great video as usual. Advice please. Here in uk I am running my TRX4 sport ( with mods you recommended) on sandstone. My Proline trenchers g8 are great when dry but do clog easily when stone becomes damp and loose. What would be your first choice in these conditions please? Proline are always my go too simple because of availability in UK. Aside comment, I have a note on the bottom of my rig “ keep the rubber side down”! Kind regards Roy
Hi Logan, you make such interesting videos I have just watched for the fifth time! Learn a lot watching your driving style. Regarding tyre test, I watch many tests and most look at climbing however, I also need to do a lot of side walling and this characteristic is often overlooked.
Question on tires..the rocks you crawl on are very high grip. Generally, would you have similar results in a "slicker" rock formations? I guess my question is if Tire A is better than B and C on this rock formation would Tire A still be the better than B and C in a different type of rock?
Hi guys, Logan hasn’t had time to reply to my request for advice so, anybody care to help please? what tyres do you run on wet sandstone when clogging is a problem for my Trenchers? In UK availability is problematic so I tend to stick with Proline.
Can. Depends on how old, and how they were stored. Old dry tires will certainly have less traction. However stored in a cool dark place like a basement they’ll stay great for years. I have a set of RC4WD gladiators (yea the Nitto trail grappler looking ones they no longer make) that are at least 9 years old and they still have great traction. Yeah probably not quite as good as they were say 5 years ago as I didn’t store them the best (hot garage for a year or two) and one shows dry rot cracks but they still work well.
The RC4WD Milestar tires I have in 4.19 and they're the most disappointing tires I own. I love the looks for a scale truck but the lugs just fold over and they're borderline useless.
For this test I specifically wanted a drag axle so I didn’t have to be consistent with two steer axles, I am messing with the rear all the time. I get that this is kind of a joke comment but I also thought about it lol
I'm running 1.9 pitbull rock beasts and they are awesome.
