@@RCReviewChannel thank you 🙏🏻 you have best reviews !!!
Oh nice! Some new rubber to try. Awesome to have a benchmark spot to really notice the differences. Cheers
Thanks 👍. Yeah, very cool to have a major new tire and having the area to test it in.
Ive never personally tried either Pro-Line tires in the video. But I am a big fan of the JConcept Megalithics. I tried a line with my Fusion with the stock Redcat MT tires, Traxxas Canyon Trail tires, Falken Wildpeak MTs, all on weighted aluminum beadlock wheels. Probably tried each tire combo for 10 mins trying to make this line with zero success. I put the JConcept Megalithics on last, and the truck literally walked it first try. I just picked up another crawler. I'd be interested to try a set of the Pro-Lines to see if they outperform the Megalithics where I typically crawl. Great content. Thanks for the comparison
Megs are the BEST 👍
Here in Hawaii proline hyrax g8’s and predator’s work well here but they need to go through a break in period first with just the right amount of wear first then they’re amazing. The jconcept ruptures work really well here with our style of rocks. So far I’m using the jconcept tusks and those are working just as amazing as the hyraxes, it’s hard to tell the difference when swapping back and forth. Hyraxes need to go through that break in period but jconcepts work right out of the bag (with a quick soap wash first of course).
I’m still wanting to experiment with others as well like the proline tsl and Baja pro x’s. Once I get some funds to get more wheels and those select tires I’ll definitely give it a go.
Thanks for the awesome vid! Nice to see comparisons of all the good tires out there. Every area and terrain are different, so always good to experiment for yourself in your area 👍🏻.
Your comment is golden!!! Thank you. What island are you at?
Lava rocks are a different beast and each area has a style. But our passion for the hobby is the same
@@RCReviewChannel ah I’m on Oahu/honolulu.
Thanks! Figure we give others an example of how different terrains/locations have an impact on tire performance. Yea the lava rocks definitely shred up your tires! I’ve only been using the g8’s and they hold up fine. A friend of mines used the predator compound and it held up well for the most part but they recently just told me after a couple of months of running it, the rocks shredded that softer compound stuff and tore the tire. He said it had slightly better grip than the g8’s for overall climbing ability but suffered on the side hilling a lot more. He compared them to his set of tusks and said it felt rather similar in performance on our rocks here with a slight edge on the side hill over his hyraxes.
A lot of the crawler guys here run the jconcept tusks or the ruptures, about 50% like the hyraxes and other 50% don’t care for them at all (no matter the compound). The class 3 guys run ruptures or the comp pins, but the comp pins don’t last too long, depending on how hard they drive.
Most the Hawaii guys like scale looks and realism, maybe 30% like all the 3 classes but tend to lean more towards class 3’s and hitting those gnarly lines. I’m neutral with all 3 classes because they all have their own type of fun 👍🏻. Right now I only have a scx10.3 base camp builders kit box stock form (planning out mods for a more class 2/trail rig build. It has good electronics I hand picked) and it amazes me at how capable it is everytime I drive it being right out of the box.
Rc hobby is amazing for sure! New to rock crawling for the most part (only 2 years so far) but been into rc since I was 8yo and stopped when I had to focus on work. Now I’m back after a little over a decade, and I’m 40 now.
We all share our info and experience to help each other to better the hobby 😁👍🏻. Keep them great reviews and videos coming my dude! Aloha from Hawaii 🤙🏻
Different rocks different tires. Hyrax kills it here in Colorado (red rocks) where I tend to go. Cool review, based off the comments some tires work some dont.
So crazy that this spot is still used. I remember wheeling and meeting you in 2006 when we only had the Axial Scorpions and stacks NiMH across the front axle :P
Very appreciate the side by side testing. I started using the Hyrax predators and absolutely swear by them Thanks to you Francis!!
Dual stage foams or even "anti-foams" are an absolute must. My rig is very heavy though... lots of metal and run the Fusion pro. Side hilling wasn't a super strong point on the predator Hyrax's... hence the dual stage or antifoams, and lots of weight.
I'll give these Aztecs a go and see Gonna be a hard call to beat Hyrax's on my local crawling course but am very open to something a little more scale looking.
Awesome comparison. Nice video👍🏾🔥
Wow awesome i need a new set of tires for my latest project. Gping to grab these now! Thanks
Great that there's finally some fresh crawler rubber from this major tire company
I would like to see a side by side comparison between Proline and Jconcepts. Maybe the top 3 tires of each brand. I would be very interested to see how the Jconcepts Megalithic tires compare to the Proline tires. I've been really thinking about getting the Megalithics for my Gen9 but I'm curious to see how they would stack up against the Prolines.
I should be able to make that happen. Seems like a worthy project.
You will not be disappointed with the Megalithics. They hook up so well on the rocks. Incredible performance.
Were you using the g8 off predator compound?
Excellent video sir
Nice review, I will have to check them out.
Please do! Fresh and grippy
Francis you gotta do a tire shootout. Tusks, megalithics, hyrax, and aztek
I have a fusion. I'm running predator azteks on the front and g8 azteks on the back. Great tire!
Great minds think alike. Reall woke up the this Ascent Fusion
After watching the Aztek go and your jconcepts ruptures vid, I’ll have to give it to the ruptures
Injora has knocked off the Hyrax and they perform absolutely amazing. And they’re like half the price. But I would be interested to see how the actual Hyrax performs as a comparison
I’ve reached out to you several times via social media with no response … I’d love to get you hooked up with a custom set of inserts for your rigs! But I can’t get in contact with you… I’ve been doing inserts for almost 3 years now and I guarantee I can get you set up with inserts that will make you throw all your foams in the trash!
Were both tires in Predator? According to ProLine, the compound is temperature specific....G8 is for greater than 70 F, and Predator for below 70 F. How's the carcass thickness between the Hyrax and Aztek? The steps on the lugs are typically supposed to support the lug from flexing too far and losing grip.
Great info!!! The carcass looks identical. Except in the Aztek there's a honeycomb support on the sidewall
Reminds me a lot of the powerhobby armor tires that released last year!
Im not surprised bu prolines tires in this pit, but how does it preform in the forest? Maby on sandy/dirt sides maby with moss? The hyrax is much allround tires and thind many wouldn change them only for this kind of driving. Great little video again. Best from Denmark.
Hey I've been testing this but every time my tires get dirty I use 409 ° here and let me tell you I even do it on brand new tires to get the gunk off of them I guess they call that like a mode release compound I wipe them down and they are so much stickier after cleaning them with 409 degrees
I will try those for sure
I’m so surprised you don’t like the J concepts tusks. They will take almost any tire on around here and win. Nobody uses hyrax around here because they just don’t work here. In any compound. The crawlers work, but not the hyrax. To me the hyrax is just a siped crawler anyway, but they just don’t work in the Pacific Northwest. I might need to try these though. Thanks for the review.
Same here hyrax dont do as good as tusk! Found bfg crawler tires seem do best in my area!
In Montana the Ruptures and Tusks are the top dogs year round, but the predator swampers and krawlers will hold their own when it’s under 85*ish degrees.
@@Jnichols77my wife runs the Baja pro X in predator here in Montana and they do quite well… I sell inserts world wide, and one thing I’ve learned is that different tires work or don’t work in different parts of the country and world!
I’ve been selling inserts for almost 3 years now and I’ve learned that different tires work differently on different types of rock and obstacles… find what works for you and understand it might not work at all on a different type of rock …
@@mr4x4sgot any good tips for running in the woods? Lots of loose dirty hills and rock, wet rocks, and some roots
I have the Aztecs on my fusion I love them.!!
Have you ran them up against the J Concepts tusks
They just don’t do well here. Stock foams are way too soft for support. Proline dual-stage are too big.
Know of a great foam for it?
@@RCReviewChannel3d printed inserts with the outside layer cut off and replaced with pro line outside foam or CI outside foam are a killer combo for any tire.
Heard a lot of guys talk about this that fine line in between grip and slip like you said the newer tires won't slip so how are you supposed to pull that line if you can't get the rear to break and slide down a little bit you know so you got to weigh everything with that thought and process not saying that you are not doing that just saying like it's something to look at
Good point. I’d much rather have grip though. Added wheel weight will plant this vehicle and allow it to crush lines.
Hard to add grip on the other hand
I just bought a new set of 1.9 Hyrax Predator and put on a green Injora Silicone insert and Beadlocks for my Ascent Fusion as well as a new Injora S5 XHX 1.9 Pin Tires on a green silicone insert as well and Injora Beadlocks.
I want to do my own testing which one is performs better along with the stock tires, foam and wheels on the Ascent Fusion...I'm betting on the Injora XHX Pin Tires to better the Hyrax because I know it performs so well on my SCX24 Chevy C10.
What do yoi think man, have you reviewed the Injora XHX Pins?
I have those. I’ll try them out in 1.9. They’ve been amazing in 1.0
Hello francis, what would you say is the best overall tire for a trx4 taking in consideration i rock crawl but also somewhat go mudding or into rivers.
Yes
This looks like the one Proline Aztek. Prolinke KM3 and MIcky Thomson are good too
It's easier to have twosets of mounted tires, one set for a trail day, one for a rocks day. If you'll be doing both on the same run, I've really liked prolines TSLs g8 and their new baja pro x g8 for do-it-all tires
@@RCReviewChannel Ok thank you so much🙏🙏
Have you not used Jake Concepts
I use them but they don’t do well here.
But the Ruptures with proline dual-stage foams are impressive here
these are a replica of superatv warrior tires. great tread pattern!
Maaan, this preview shot with open mouth 😂🤣
Maybe too much :)
That's a hard point on the test if you're comparing a brand new tire to a used tire
True but I’ve used many sets of this Hyrax bramd new on these lines and they act this way consistently.
This set of Hyrax had great tread and I did a thorough soap wash
You said the same about the landmines. The hyrax killer. But in the end it was not. We will see how this comes out
Try to Jake Concepts landmine okay make it a super soft insert and then on the outside lug take one lug out of in between all of them only one love in between each bigger
Great advice!!!
lol
I haven't seen people run hyrax in years. No one really use that tire anymore.
I've been running them on my Gen 8 Axe and my TRX-4 now I got a new set for my Ascent Fusion to test against my Injora XHX Pins, Duratrax Deepwoods and GMade MT1904. Don't be an RC snob.
I still use them on my element enduro sendero, they're great
There’s pockets of regions where they don’t work well. But for steep rocks , they still crush
Hyrax are dominant in the Colorado competitive scene.
