    I really felt sorry for the young woman that bought Tella. She got had and is now out of the hard earned money she paid but; the worst part is, her dream of owning a horse was shattered. I'm very happy though that she did what was best for Tella and her unborn baby. You simply can not put a price on life. Thank you, for helping them all.

    My mare was 2 months pregnant when i got her, but the owner was honest. She is a registered Morgan, bred to a registered Morgan sire. She had her foal 9 months later. We were ready, and she had a beautiful filly, who is now 11 years old and a joy to behold! The mare was 13 when she was born. And is living a happy retired life here.

    Had something similar happen when I bought a mare from a local auction, despite interrogating the (dodgy) seller. Found out later through a third party that the mare had been running with his Welsh cob stallion and ten months later, I had a bouncing filly foal. Twenty-four years later, I still have her, although her mum sadly passed away two years ago. In my case, it worked out very well, and both my girls were worth the inconvenience, but I was lucky in that I had the facilities and experience to deal with it all. I'm glad Tella got the care she and her foal needed.

    Years ago, this happened to a friend. When she bought her mare it was in foal, but it wasn't far along, so you couldn't physically tell....When the mare started suddenly putting on SO much weight, they were surprised - since her diet hadn't changed - and they called in a vet to 'see what was wrong'......LOL So, a few months later, the mare delivered a colt. They called him ' Shannon's Secret'. 'Shannon' for the mare, and 'Secret' was his everyday, barn name !! :)

    I’m so happy to see that Tella was bought by a young woman who loved her enough to seek the right home and care for her. I don’t even know what I would do if I bought a mare that was carrying!
    Also, shame on horse owners who are deceitful and false, it makes it impossible to take at face value anything you are told. I learned the hard way too to involve a veterinarian and a mentor or expert in purchasing. I bought an off the track thoroughbred, who was so sweet and calm the few times I visited and rode him. Turns out he was mostly likely heavily medicated, and I didn’t know what to look for(droopy lips, hanging head). He ended up being dangerous and having a canon bone injury. I am much wiser now, but it was hard earned!

    You always like to think people are honest but I've seen some pretty egregious lies at livestock sales at least over here in the states. Even in person it's best if your a first time buyer to bring along somebody who's been around the block so to speak and can spot things you're green to notice. One of the things I see out here a lot is selling miniatures and ponys as "completely broken" and "bomb proof" when in reality they're ridden around the sales arena by a kid WAY too big for them to comfortably carry. It's hard to buck and be stubborn when you have a giant on your back.

    • @VK-qe7if
      @VK-qe7if Год назад +15

      Sadly a lot of people are liars when it comes to selling horses or ponies, and my advice is to never believe what they say, and always get the horse you're thinking of buying vetted by a reputable vet, and not by the sellers vet. I nearly got caught once when I went to try a horse I was interested in buying, and he was just what I wanted, and I rode him and was very happy with him. I decided wisely to have him vetted, and sadly he failed the vetting because he had Arthritis in his hocks, I was broken hearted 💔 😢

    • @vlg1728
      @vlg1728 Год назад +9

      liars are everywhere, not just in US. Puppies that are sold as "pure" (and accordingly priced) but when they grow up they're nothing like the race they're supposed to be. Horses that have medical condition(s), the owner know but don't say anything (here you can sue the seller if the animal has a medical condition, but you have to prove that he knew BEFORE selling them, and that there was a real intention to deceive). That's why here, pre-purchase vet visit is more and more popular, to be sure there's nothing wrong with the legs or the back. Maybe costly, but aways less than if you have to pay thousands of vet bills to fix a leg or you have to retire your horse at 7yo because of a bad back

    • @vlg1728
      @vlg1728 Год назад +2

      there's even a well known animal traffic here, that consists of taking all the "free kitten" people have, and sell them as "pure-breed cat", sold like 600, sometimes more for popular breeds.

I would want a vet check and many videos online show why it is important to be personally present at the vet check and bring an independant vet of your choice, otherwise people can team up to lie to you. That happened to the family, of a childhood friend. Her Dad bought a blood bay mare; at a sale; and several months later; she surprised everyone with a paint filly.

    Beautiful, what a lovely foal, she’s going to be a big girl, look at the length of those legs. NEVER buy unseen, unless you know exactly what you are doing and are experienced to deal with issues. Charities are the best places to go to, if you don’t have the knowledge and need help, support and advice.

    Thank you for helping the young owner. I'm sure after saving up for their 1st horse they were heartbroken.
    However, acquiring any animal it's not just the cost of the animal purchase, its the upkeep and having the resources and finances to cover unexpected medical costs. If the horse wasn't with foal but at some point fell ill, could you afford the vet fees and meds? If not, you're not ready to take on a pony or horse. You have to cover the rainy days not just the sunny ones.
