Haggis, was overweight and lame with long feet when a World Horse Welfare Field Officer found him, but after the care given to him by the staff at Belwade Farm, Aboyne, he has now gone on to lead a happy, healthy life rehomed to Chloe.
In this video we show how Haggis is getting ready to meet a special guest at Belwade Farm, HRH The Princess Royal.

Raising horses and ponies as a child I've always been amazed by ferriers (we called them blacksmiths). This gentleman really took into account the leg and tendon issues and trimmed accordingly. NOT EASY! Hats off to him and all others in this pony's recovery!
Oh that poor pony.So glad he is found a new home.🐴🐴🐴🐴💙💙💙🌟🌟🥀
What a beautiful caring person Princess Anne is and Haggis was a gentleman!
I love seeing farriers at work and making a real difference.
I am so glad Princess Anne was so touched by the pony's sad story that she decided to pay it a royal visit. That shows just how caring and an animal lover she is.
Aw - wee Haggis 💓 what an amazing farrier!!
My daughter found a white pony standing in the middle of the road with feet in the same shape she walked her to where we lived ...Called the sheriff and she now lives with us ..with all her medical problems she is being treated well here 🤗🥰🥰🥰💖💖💖💖💖🙏🙏🙏🙏it took her almost two weeks for her to walk properly again ..arthritic hips and shoulders, plus joints ,she had been foundered, nobody had claimed her ....
So glad this cute pony has a good home , now, and is getting the care he deserves
That farrier was really skilled, and a pleasure to watch.
What a lovely pony. I am so glad his feet are better. Good Boy Haggis!
He's adorable and I'm so pleased that he didn't suffer any serious long term effects from neglect. That he was rescued before it was too late.
How great you are to do this for this neglected pony.
Is it just me or did anyone one else find it satisfying when he trimmed the frog
Watching farriers work is so fascinating to me, particularly when they explain what they are doing and why they are doing it. Thank you for helping Haggis!
What a sweet nature Haggis has!
I squealed in joy at the end. I never squeal. You guys are awesome.
what a cute pony!
wow, Princess Anne was listening to his story! Glad to see that his only issue holding him back was his foot/hoof problem, once that was cleared up, of COURSE he could run and exercise all the excess weight. What a good Pony!
Love this Farrier. So smart and caring. Poor Haggis. . So glad he is in a new, caring, forever home.
God bless this little guy. Thanks to all who are helping with his recovery.
The farrier and the vet are amazing!
These people have a reserved place in heaven, such great people
I have a reoccurring NIGHTMARE of only being able to walk on my knees - I don't *love* horses like some of my friends do/have - I'm a cat person, (dog person second) - this makes me *weep* - *thank you* to anyone who rescues theses lovely horses and gives them the dignity they deserve
Fico imensamente feliz de ver pessoas que se dedicam de coração por todos os animais
Guessing poor little Haggis being so obese was because he was in so much pain from his overgrown hooves, he couldn't move around that much! So glad he was rescued!
Did anyone else's feet ache in sympathy when they watched this? Mine did!
Hello Haggis. We have a Haggis too - from the SSPCA in the spring time, a bit neglected before SSPCA got him. It's very rewarding working with these horses who have had a bad start, seeing them becoming more confident and their little personalities developing. My Haggis will be 2 in the spring time and he's destined for life as a driving pony if he is suited to it, which every indication seems to be that he is. :)
i loved the way the farrier said foot omg
Wild horses natural environment is often rugged terrain and I believe their constant movement looking for food wears down their hoof naturally just a head of natural growth. That's my understanding of it.
Haggis was a chunk for sure but with those painful feet I'm sure he didn't walk much. He is such a fine boy and I'm glad he has a loving home.
He looks so much better now! I have never seen hooves that badly overgrown, that must have been so painful for the poor lil guy! He is such a little cutie, I just want to hug him. I hate that there are people out there neglecting their animals. Thank God for all the amazing, hard working people combating the neglect and saving these wonderful, innocent lives. God bless all of them!
Hurray For Haggis, his Farrier and all his Carers !
What a lovely girl taking on little Haggis. She clearly loves him to bits.
It is so frustrating to think that people can be so cruel and careless to allow something like this to happen. This video of them helping Haggis really did put a smile on my face; it proves that *some* people have a heart and love animals.
One of the most competent farriers I've seen. Very nice job
I like the fact that the people ALWAYS have a helmet on. Really good.
Thank you for sharing!
this gives me a deeper appreciation for professional farriers
thx for rescuing him xxx
After being neglected for so long I would've expected him to pull; I'm surprised @ how easy he is to handle, & how nicely he stands for trimming. What a sweet little pony!
Omg, seeing the Ferrier trim the hooves back is so satisfying,
So heartwarming! Great honor to meet up with HRH Princess Anne, who does seem to like all horses and not just the top breeds. Delighted Haggis has found a loving owner and great surroundings! Thanks for sharing.
he's such a pretty little pony. Glad he's in a good home now
I"ve never seen hooves so long, poor wee Haggis :(
Thank god that there are people out there that do care
i have two companion horses and surprisingly the youngest is the one behaving the most ;3 theyre so funny to have around and sometimes when small kids are visiting they get a ride around the yard! without companion horses i do not know where i would be today!
poor baby. thank god to the wonderful people who took him and helped him
I'm so glad that little sweetheart didn't founder. I saw the thumbnail and my heart sank because I was just sure with hooves that bad he would have laminitis.
aw he's lovely bless him
That clip of his nose/snout at the end made me cry. I love horses and just seeing where he came from to how he is now just shocked me. Thanks to all the people working fro animal rescue organisations and thanks to everyone who adopts one of these poor animals and gives them a chance for a better life.
Haggis is an adorable name for this wee lad
what a well mannered pony. I would be kicking and screaming if I had hooves and they were that long. Poor thing!
Not really it would be very difficult and painful for him to kick in those circumstances and hard to walk or move at all really
What a awesome farrier!
It was really interesting to see how his feet were cared for, would have been cool to see the process done for the back feet and then his first steps after the trimming...
This made me tear up. I am so glad these horses get a second chance at life and are able to feel loved and cared for.
That is TERRIBLE I freaked out yesterday when I found out one of my horses had hotnail and I thought my rescue gelding had it bad! This poor horse! I am so happy he's getting better
Thank you and God bless you for caring for this beautiful little guy.
Oh,this poor, poor pony!I'm so glad, that you rescued him, he is so lovely!
Poor horse!!!! So glad that that people care about horses. His feet looked very sore and painful. He looks so much better
God bless you for saving his beautiful creatures.

You are a Angel, and now Haggis feet will get better, and it's all down to you and your caring work ,.
i love horses and I am soo sad that he got neglected.
You guys are amazing for saving so many horses lives :) poor pony he looks so sad and those hooves look horrible but now amazing great job

aww poor little boy, good on you for saving him!!!
He's adorable omggg how can anyone do anything to hurt horses!!!????
💕Wonderful 💕Thanks for helping Haggis.
i love this girl she is nice
He's absolutely gorgeous!!
I was so upset when I found out about this. we were doing animal rights in our R.S and we were doing charities. I did world horse welfare and I found this story of Haggis. my teacher felt really sorry for him. I'm so glad he's doing better
This looks like my pony, Fred that I just rescued. His hooves are also very bad, but the farrier is coming tomorrow to fix my beautiful boy up! Unfortunately we have to tranq him because of the pain.
That was actually some major ASMR watching the farrier trim his hoof.
I don't know why but seeing hooves cleaned up is really satisfying to me
WHW are doing a fantastic job.
im glad you gave him a good home .. ☺
When we bought my horse her feet were overgrown a BIT. But this was insane! How could the owner let his hooves get THIS bad?!!
so cute
The pony and the farrier are offensively Scottish in a very charming way, Nice job.
omg that ferrier was AMAZING! I thought those hooves were going to take months! he did it in 1 visit!
Love the way he said Grrrroosly
HAGGIS IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CUTE!
Beergut or not, farriers are the sexiest guys in the world! - Kind, caring, strong...... *swoon! thud!*
Thank you 💜
can't believe someone could ignore his feet for so long that it would get this bad
Those were the worst hooves I have ever seen, and lucky for Haggis.... looks like it didn't do too much permanent damage to him. Poor guy and look at him now....very handsome Haggis.
His little face it's adorable
thriving
Wonderful effort to correct the issues.😷👍
Oh my gosh! Totally agree!!!
Haggis, what an adorable name for an adorably chubby pony!
Plus, to add to the comments already posted. Its a for sure thing, he was most likely kept in a very small pen or stall to prevent movement and there for having no way to naturally wear his hooves.
An addition, Horses in the wild move more intensely and often on a rather sparse diet compares to what domestic horses often get (massive calorie overload leading to obesity). So not only more movement, but also less calories. That, and natural selection pressure for decent hooves.
hes so adorable
Hey Donald just saw you on WHW you haven't changed a bit don't know if you remember me, I was one of your Dad's and your clients many moons ago. Best Wishes, Dot Gregory (Duncan)
Those feet must of hurt for him and I am glad he got that fix
Love watching (and listening to!) farriers working - caring, knowledgeable pros, mix of mechanic, artisan, medic, sculptor, mani-pedicurist :) - wonderful specialists.
That poor pony his hoofs look like elf shoes
DAMN! poor animal!
