I picked up one of these at a 2nd hand store and it’s an amazing camera. I’m not sure mine was ever used by the original owner, because my copy is pristine. Will take it out for family outings etc and I really enjoy using it. Great video going over the features and history. You have a lot of great and valuable info, thanks for making these see videos.
Congratulations, they are great cameras and have their place in camera history, huge choice of M42 mount lenses and great metering, well done on finding a mint one, enjoy 😃
I feel like I should have known about the M42 mount, but I didn’t. This has opened my eyes to this mount and I just ordered a M42 to Nikon adapter so I can get some more use out of this lens I have (and probably some M42 eBay purchases in my future). Thanks again, I appreciate your style of videos, you have a lot of information and a photography geek like myself finds everything fascinating. Thanks!
I've got a chrome ST801 and a black ST901 both bought brand new in the mid seventies, plus a selection of dedicated Fujica lenses. Both in near perfect condition as they have sat in a display cabinet for thirty years. Think I'll get them out and try out a couple of rolls of film having seen this.
Hi, they are great cameras and you are lucky in having matching open aperture lenses, best of luck with them both, never tried the 801, will have to add it to my wishlist....
I have ST 901 the film wind/advance won’t move therefore the shutter release doesn’t work either. I’m wondering if something has it locked up? Is there a button that unlocks this?
Hi, I will have to dig my one out and take a look but I am sure that something is not right, I know the shutter is electronic so maybe it's a battery issue, if the battery is good then suspect a mechanical problem, have you had a look at the shutter for damage, is there a film in it that needs rewinding?
The Photographer's Bag Hi thanks for responding. It was the Shutter button lock. I watched your video closer and saw you unlock it. Now it works great! I bought it that day I posted. Nice camera and it was $15.00!! I basically stole it. And it came with a 55mm with a Telemore95 II made by Komura Lens MFG LTD. So the 55mm is more like a 70mm
This was not the first FUJICA camera with LED shutter speed indication, it was the ST801. THIS was the first FUJICA with Automation and electronic shutter.
Hi, it was the first SLR camera to display the shutter speed in an led display, the ST801 only displayed exposure information using LEDs, the shutter speed was displayed via the common transparent circular display on the left of the viewfinder, I checked the owners manual for both cameras, you are correct regarding the aperture priority auto mode and the stepless electronic shutter.....
@@thephotographersbag Thank you so much!! My first film camera was a FUJICA ST801 that my Father bought for me when I was in University, it is an awesome camera and it has a lot of great memories for me. I still have it and use.
Hi, not sure on the model, st605?, However all the M42 mount Fujica cameras are well made and good performers at very reasonable prices, recommended...
Hi, it could be that only the display is not working...so you hear a difference in shutter speed between the widest and smallest aperture settings? If so then the auto mode is working but not telling you the set shutter speed, Does the display change in manual selection of shutter speed?
Thank you so much for replying, it was long shot 😊 I just tested it and yes, I hear a difference depending on the aperture and just after the shot, or maybe better saying while it's been taking, it displays the shutter speed🎉 But the 0- always there means they are all getting overexposed? Maybe the problem is me lol
Hi, I think the system is working just fine and the display has an issue, this was one of the first cameras with this type of display, I don't think you will get overexposed frames, give it a try with some film ..

My led only shows 0-, doesn't matter the aperture, location, light. I guess Auto option from my camera is not working.
