Shoot one roll of film with 36 exposures, Ilford HP5 ($8), and process at home for pennies in HC110. Don't spray and pray. Don't photograph things you don't want photographs of. Make photographs of subjects you want to print and hang. I don't get one good photo per roll, I get all good photos--it's all I make when I use film.

This is one of the camera bodies in my M42 Komine kit. I'm very happy with it.

Yes, Fomapan 100 bulk loaded and developed in Rodinal is crazy cheap. Develop at home! It is as fun as taking photos.

I restored my mamiya 1000 dtl and fell in love with the shutter slap and simple yet functional controls. Was a breath of fresh air over a Nikon F4 I sold recently.

Of course we love your gear videos!
I’m a fan of medium format folders. This week went to a local antique store and found a 6x9 Zeiss Ikon Ikonta “M” in amazingly well shape ( the latter model with integrated rangefinder), and after a slight discount paid $50 for it. As you mention gear is out there , waiting for someone to discover it and do something great with it or at least try our best to do so :)
    Cheers!

I've been through the whole mix of SLRs lately. K1000- beautiful pics, seemed a little big. Picked up a Fujica ST605n, loved the size and M42 mount, so I grabbed a Spotmatic, liked the look and feel better than the K1000 so I sold that. Got a few more Spotmatics and had a couple CLA'd. More great pics. Then discovered the ST801- Love this camera! Selling all the spotmatics (might keep one for show/backup) and settling in with the fujicas for their small size and great feel. I'm done shopping for mechanical SLRs. Fewer cameras more photographs!

I've got this same camera but sadly my lens is broken at full open. Had to use a Chinon lens and a wide Pentacon which I need to keep the metering lock on at all times. It's an excellent camera with a great light meter

Just got an 801 and found that replacing the light seals was unusual as they are all on the film rear door, so can't use 4 ply black yarn/wool instead of foam on this one!

M42 mount, right? Any of those lenses would be excellent, too. Cheers!

Almost all film isn’t expensive! Now I wanted some film experience in my life mixed in with digital, but I want instant results, so I bought a Polaroid SX-70 alpha and a SX-70 sonar and had them refurbished like new. But it’s damn expensive for film at $2.50 a shot and you only get eight shots.

Take 8 good shots for one project. The pack will cost $20 and you'll have a show!

      @@kennethwajda At this stage I get 2 or 3 good shots a pack. Around a $100 and I have project😂

Film is costly as well as chemicals to develop it, don't forget that shelf life of chemical is just three months, if you want to Use full batch of chemical before it's expiring You will need to use at least 15 rolls of film, so you are in trap against time at end you will end up either taking crap picture to use full batch of chemicals or end up partially used expired Chemical. So it both cases these analog product manufacture. Wins, same is the case if you. Use wet prints.
