I've been yoyoing for about 10 years and just started 5A and I'm having a really hard time with this trick. Do you have any tips for pinwheeling the counterweight while doing the combo at the same time?
Just take it one step at a time. This will help you over come the difficulty of doing different things with each hand.

Having a little bit of trouble with the fan.. As I spin the counterweight it seems to be slowly pushing against the response on the trapeze and is tilting the yoyo. Angling my hand differently has caused the counterweight to hit the yoyo and changing my planes will cause the yoyo to tilt more or the counterweight hit the yoyo. I'm surprised that such a simple looking trick is schooling me.

When I hear the 5A trick called electric fan, I think of spinning the counterweight around while doing brain twisters with the yoyo. Ideally, the yoyo and counterweight should be on opposite sides, both spinning in sync. I hope you do a video showing this trick!
+SpitefulAZ That is the classic electric fan (except it is done on the side mount, and not the front-mount as you described), and we will be teaching that in a future video.
Do you have to do a 360 or can you just grab the middle of the string to get into the e fan?

Hello wonderful people at Yotricks! I purchased a Replay pro from you guys about twoish weeks ago, and it was amazing! But, I left it on a shelf where a little one with sticky/dirty fingers has gotten to it. The bearing was pretty gross, so i cleaned it with some lighter fluid(As mentioned/taught by Brandon Vu) and i lubed it with some VERY thin silicon lube. It's mostly un-responsive, but when i try performing a trick right when i throw, the yoyo becomes responsive and ends up biting my hand most of the time. I've thrown the yoyo for roughly 5-6 hours over the last few days after lubing the bearing so i think the lube is pretty worked in. I'm pretty frustruated with this and i don't quite know what to do about it. Buying a new yoyo/bearing Seems unreasonable because this is a brand new yoyo. Any tips or suggestions? I just want to be able to throw without bruising my hands. xD
+MeditationGamers I would like to help, but I am not entirely clear on the problem. When you say "when I try performing a trick right when I throw" what are you referring to? Are you saying when you throw the yoyo and immediately attempt something like a mount? Also, why do you think it might be responsive in this case but mostly unresponsive otherwise? Also, what was the lube you used?
+yotricks haha sorry for not being clear it was pretty late. so soon after I throw the yoyo, while the spin is still very high when I try a trick like a breakaway grind or kwijibo it binds up. I used some very thin rubiks silicon lube. which is what might/probably is the problem, but the yoyo is only really responsive for the first 5-10 seconds of a throw.
OK. For the first 5-10 seconds of most throws there is going to be some vibe on the yoyo, which can cause it to be responsive if you pop it up in the air, as you noticed for tricks like Kwyjibo. If you wait until the yoyo is vibing a little less, this will happen less often. For grinds you need a perfectly unresponsive yoyo, or grinds will almost always bind. The Rubiks lube is only 8cts thin, which is not thin enough for a yoyo to play perfectly unresponsive. You may find that it works well enough for most tricks, however.

hey yotricks. I have settled with the shutter. I was wondering what kind of kitty string would increase performance. fat or regular?
also would you recommend the gradient as well and is the gradient better in performance than the shutter or should i stick with the shutter?
+YoyoKid01 I prefer fat string when I use the Shutter, although I do not think I would describe the experience as an increase in performance. The Gradient plays a little faster than the Shutter, but overall I would not say that it is better.
+yotricks would normal Polyester Yoyo String work for the shutter as well? or should i stick with the kitty string?
The normal poly will work, but it will not last as long or play as well as kitty string.

The response system is not setup well, so the strings tend to slip out during play. If you already have one and it is not causing you problems then I would not worry about it, but if you are thinking of getting one, I would recommend against it.

This is ridiculous, every time I come close I'm like OK this time... thn the string fuckin breaks....... then i have no string... then i get another string, and the stirng breaks..... then i have n ostring,........ then I get another one and play for ten minutes and the string breaks......
And the string is breaking RIGHT under the knot that is attached to my finger....... wtf IS THAT!? It's not even snapping where there is friction involved it's snapping right at the finger......
Also when I DO get it right, my yoyo is no longer mounted..... so obviously I'm not getting it right haha but I don't get it.
