Have you done Poi at all? 5A to me is very similar and you use a lot of Poi terminology.

Can someone explain why string tension sucks so much more in 5a? I have a weight that eliminates the tension but I still have to tighten it every like 3 throws.

Most likely you are practicing tricks that add tension to the string.

The string tension is getting tighter rather than looser, and I think it's because the centrifugal force applied on the counterweight is pulling the string looser, and there is nothing stopping the string from doing so because I use a tension correcting weight. But I could be wrong. Does tension get tighter or looser in 5a when you throw it?

Not really. However, if you practice tricks like this it will add a great deal of tension into the string.

The trick in the contest is dependent tangler (or just 'tangler') We are working on a method of teaching this trick, but we have not finished working out the details yet.
