I like Vista, it had it's issues a little, but Vista is actually more fun to use than 7. It had Dream Scene, better wallpaper's, cool theme. I managed to get most of that stuff in Windows 7.
Regardless of Vista's flaws, it was the best looking Windows of them all. That default wallpaper is so calming. 7 is great too but almost a little too blue. I love the teal colors in Vista.
Windows Vista with SP1 is much better then XP. It is now just as stable, it looks so much better, and it's much easier to understand and use. LONG LIVE MICROSOFT WINDOWS!
One of my favorite videos of Bill Gates / Windows Vista. You laid out the vision for where you guys were going with Vista at the Professional Developers Conference in Los Angeles back in 2003. From your perspective, how much of that vision is reflected in the product that is shipping this week? Gates: We were able to achieve virtually everything we set out to do. We did not change the file system into a database-like approach. That turned out to be a little ahead of its time. With the exception of that, the presentation richness, the security, the organization-type things that we have here. It's very dramatic.
Windows Vista is actually not as bad as people make it out to be, especially after SP2 came out. It's just that, with Windows 7 having basically the same compatibility requirements, there's not much reason to use Vista anymore.
The main reason why I loved Vista was because it was the first OS with a really fast, easily accessible search bar. It was right there in the start menu. I personally never had any problems with Vista. It always ran fantastic for me.
Not really a weird case, he is just very humble for a billionaire. Tons of his money goes to charity for renovating schools across the country and that is something to appreciate about this guy. Sure Windows might not be the most perfect OS but it is this guys's philosophy which has made a company such as Microsoft so successful.
He said that certain features that didn't make it in vista were ahead of its time in terms of its design and what they were able to code and that was the database type file system. That was he claimed to be ahead of its time in terms of what they are able to create. So they are still trying to develop.
the bad part about vista was that most were not prepared on the hardware side. But, the good thing is that if vista hasn´t come, probably windows 7 wouldn´t exist!
Are you running the 32 or 64 bit version? 32 bit runs faster with less RAM. 64 bit requires more RAM but can represent more data. For a system to recognize anything over 3 GB you need 64 bit. Only one problem. 64 bit isn't really that useful yet. It has the capability of being more efficient. 64 bit can be more precise. But the software must be designed for 64 bit systems or you're not going to see much improvement. Same rule applies to multiple core processors.
He likes to lead a simple life to show that just because he's rich he doesn't have to be another Britney Spears. It's something that I find very respectable. He spends his money on much important things like charity, because he's learned the real value of money.
Well it has a customizable interface which is very user friendly, sleek and sexy.Vista supports all the new games that are out and it is just plain good. I have no compatability issues. I recommend you buy a pc with windows vista pre installed.
Well most people are disappointed with the fact that it runs slower than XP, that was to be expected. Leopard however does not slow the mac down when you upgrade the OS from Tiger. It literally runs at the same speed as Tiger, well that can be attributed with a similar GUI with no major visual upgrades, only interactive.
Well 7 is being released mainly to correct the errors that Vista brought about. Vista was nice in terms of its GUI and functionality but new users were plagued with a host of driver incompatibility issues and slow processing speeds. With that said it was to be expected that Vista would be slower than XP being more complex and hogging up a lot of memory and resources. I prefer to stick with XP for the time being until Windows 7 is released.
I've never had any issues with it...networking is much more simple than it is in XP (or at least in my experience) but whatever, that's just my opinion.
2. When XP came out, many people bought it and they find out that they old printer won't work with it because it was too old. When Vista came out, many people bought it and they find out that they old printer won't work with it because it was too old. Any differances? Excluding the product name I don't see one.
3c. Do you see the differences? In the XP scenario, the mid-loine computer was about 4 times faster than my computer, in the Vista one, it about 4 times too. The difference is: there's no lag, a 45 minutes install time, a 2 minutes boot time, etc.
Yeah, XP is now discontinued in terms of sales but updates are going to continue until 2014. Microsoft is hoping Windows 7, its new operating system due in 09 is going to be better than Vista.
A quad would make systems run much better. But I have to disagree that it's a requirement. A quad isn't necessary to run Vista. A lot of software hasn't even been designed to take advantage of dual core yet. Individual chips aren't getting much faster. They're just giving us more chips. Software has to be designed to utilize those cores or you won't get much use from them.
Try installing a Windows 9x theme into it, for example, my alltime favorite theme, Lain from the anime "Serial Experiments Lain". even if you manage to somehow get the basic colors and sound scheme right (which is impossible to do with the basic tools, they don't give you access to half the functions they gave in 9x), color scheme customization is limited, and saving the various kinds of cursors and transition effects is sketchy at best. With Vista, it's simple: just double click, and apply.
Now, do you get it? I hope this message will reach some one. Vista is NOT a bad operating system, it's actualy the best one ever done in the Windows line. KawazoeJapan, Vista user since beta 1.
Vista was quite a buggy OS; certain interfaces would not load for me which were central to the OS, such as file sharing settings dialog. It was also somewhat slower compared to both XP and 7. I would only recommend Vista to those with lots of ram, do not share resources on a network and do not use many third party software/drivers (they are often incompatible).
It's exactly like what happened with XP; when the new OS came out, it seemed like crap and nobody could install their older printers. I don't know about the Adobe Flash though.
3a. When XP came out, I wanted to try it so I installed it on my old AMD 500 mHz with 256 mb of ram, 10 gb of hard disk space and a built-in video card. The first thing I notice was ... well, I think you get it : it was slow! 6 hours to install, 10 minutes to boot, etc. For comparative, the mid-line computer in this time was a 1.8 gHz CPU with 512 mb of ram.
Mac OSX is fine and it is pretty simple. However I hate using bootcamp all the time to run windows apps. I would have a mac only for video and photo editing as well as browsing. For high end gaming and enjoying high definition movies, I would use a pc.
I have them both. They're about the same. Depends on what you're needs are. One simply can't state that one is better than the other. For media work, mac is way better, but for office work and gaming, windows (both Vista and XP) are better. But there is none that is overall better than the other.
3b. I installed Vista on my desktop and tablet computer, both running with 1 gb of ram and a 2 gHz cpu (sigle core). One with an ATI AIW 9600xt video card and an other with a intel 945gm. You know what? They work perfectly: no lag, quick boot, aero desktop, etc. For comparative: a mid-line computer today is: 2.4 gHz dual core cpu, 1gb or ram and a ATI x1200 video card.
manufactured dell pcs aren't that bad. i have dell inspiron from like 3 years ago and it works perfect with xp and ubuntu dual booting. and also, there's something called wubi. it downloads the iso image to your computer and while it does that it also creates a partition and installs it on computer. it recognizes what computer you have and it downloads all the drivers that you need. also, the software manager in ubuntu is also very helpful when installing drivers that you're missing.
The only PCs I've seen where vista is a problem are those with less than 1.5gb RAM or anything less than a dual-core. Vista actually runs faster than XP given you have decent hardware. Complaining that Vista runs bad on old computers is like complaining that a geforce 4 can't run Crysis.
Superfetch did make Hard drives die. Sadly I still have to disable it since Vista so 7/8.1/ and now 10. I just found out that you cant disable Windows Defender in 10 anymore. Its greyed out. Damn bastards!
This was supposed to be a reply to someone else's comment, but for some reason RUclips seems to have placed it on its own. I hate when that happens, it just looks random and out-of-context.
Jobs needs to change his look, thats for sure. It always looks like he has only one pair of clothes, his black turtleneck shirt with his Levi's or Wrangler whatever jeans.
At 2:22 he gets asked of his opinion of the negative reviews for Vista, but he doesn't answer the question at all! Instead, he immediately flips it around and talks about the positive reviews. Now, what does that tell you?
PCs running Windows are just as good if not better for things like that. In terms of video editing you have the Adobe Suite which are on both Mac and PC, but the PC gets it slightly sooner. and the PC as Sony Vegas which a mac does not.
About half a year. Way too long. Let's just put it this way; Windows Vista and Mac OSX are both really good in their own seperate ways. I do have to admit I didn't like Vista at first. Then I got used to it. Then I loved it. I am not going to carry on this conversation as it is pointless.
Thats true because on windows you can play games. windows is also professional and more software is made for windows. Macs are good for music, video, and photo editing and creating.
Oh yeah... thats a really good question.... whats inside of Bill Gates computer??? vista? seven?... maybe you are right and Bill is the first Beta tester of every new thing of Microsoft.... I personally think he is using Vista... untill Se7en were out =)
Wrong. Most people who talk about Vista either know NOTHING about it, or tried it on a 5 year old laptop. From my experienced with Vista, I've NEVER had it crash on me once and EVERY program I've tried has been compatible. A lot of the negativity surrounding Vista was from when it first came out, and (from what I hear) was buggy, and unstable.
***Sorry but I'll have to make a multi post comment since this one is too long to fit in the comment field. Windows Vista is the best Windows ever made. For those who still think that xp is better just think about those lines: 1. XP is released since more than five years; Vista for about 5 months. So that's normal that you don't find your drivers for Vista and found is for XP.
Any Mac is a lot better than any Windows computer that I've seen. If Microsoft were to create full computer solutions (not just an OS) they will be able to create much faster hardware. That's the same reason why android phones are so slow and unstable. They have no hardware acceleration what so ever. The Macs not only have a well thought out OS, but their laptops and phones are also very sturdy and high quality.
He has no clue and isn't even convinced of his product. Compare with Steve Jobs' key notes and you'll see what I mean. Also, it sounds as if these questions were given to BG before - I would have cited some of the bad press and confronted him with it to see what he would say his developers really did to solve the issues...
If Vista was in fact so great then why when it came out could you choose to downgrade back to XP when buying from any of the big computer manufacturers? Vista is like Windows ME. It was a failed attempt to update an OS that worked pretty well!
Vista is slower than XP so all they really did was change the OS cosmetically. I hate Mac though since there aren't really built for gaming and expandibility, I like to play around with PC hardware but you can't really do that with a mac, I rather stick to Linux.
@TheQuarryboy - I agree. Had a free Win ME copy when it was released when I purchased a computer. Thankfully, I elected to install with the rollback option because ME was awful. Took me about 2 hours of pain and I rolled it back. As for Vista, it too was junk. Fortunately, I found this out using a work computer and not my personal. Thet were smart not to call Windows 7 "Vista - 2nd Edition" as they did with 98. That OS was good and 2nd Edition were enhancements, not bug fixes.
Because most "nerds" hop on the "Let's hate Bill Gate's" bandwagon. What most people fail to understand is that the Window's operating system is the most usable OS there is. End of story. I want the Linux fanboys to yell at me for it to! They know it's true no matter how hard it is to admit. Windows = Easy to use and compatible. You want to know why people hate Bill Gates? He's rich, and he's the face of Microsoft so when something goes wrong it's automatically "His Fault."
Safari is basically Internet Explorer, just made by Apple. I was showing an example of how crappy Mac's are by saying how hard it is just to open an Internet Browser. Besides, Apple is lucky that Bill Gates lets Safari access the Internet anyways.
Here's what happened; I was at The Spotted Cow (an Ice Cream/Coffee Shop) and they have a Mac OS X. I opened Safari by double clicking on it and what came up? A BLANK SCREEN!!! HOW HARD IS IT TO GET!!!!!!!!!! MAC SUCKS.
Vista runs much nicer now.
What I liked most about Vista, was the new UI, the glass appearance, which sadly has gone away with Windows 8.
Windows 8.1 is actually quite fast, but still very ugly. I'm using it with a Vista theme.
and it will come back to glass design in ui in near future.
@@arash5550 I hope, because I'm not really living for this flat feeling.

Ahem. What 99.9% of the XP fantards don't know about XP that it was hated a lot and was considered the worst Windows back in 2001-2004.
The main reason why I loved Vista was because it was the first OS with a really fast, easily accessible search bar. It was right there in the start menu. I personally never had any problems with Vista. It always ran fantastic for me.

Vista can do a lot of things excellently. Most people that are having problems with Vista are those with old hardwares.
I haven't gotten Vista yet, but I'm thinking about it. Can you elaborate on why Vista is good? Do you have any compatibility issues?
He said that certain features that didn't make it in vista were ahead of its time in terms of its design and what they were able to code and that was the database type file system. I never had any of the problems people claimed they had, yet i ran it from the start.
Microsoft said they are going to end support for Windows XP in 2009.
Then probably instead of that they gave us a third service pack.
idk why because it was also the same year when win7 was officially released.
I have had Vista for about a year and a half and I don't see what's so bad about it..

64-bit OS's arent made for gaming primarily, thats the reason. and also the GPU, RAM CPU combination helps.

Love the XP, Vista is great so far in my Laptop. Just acts up when u Put it on Standby. once a week or so. Other than that, love it.

Im also using Vista Ultimate 32-bit and its awesome! =D
@xan1242 it does? i cant play battlefield 1942 on vista but on win 7 i can
@kabobularproductions im pretty sure Windows 7 IS XP but in a modern gui
WHY IS EVERYONE SAYING VISTA IS SLOW???

I am amazed that Bill Gates hasn't sued Apple for saying Vista sucks and Apple is way better. I do like Mac OS X, but I am just amazed.
Same with XP; it looked cool and ran crappily because almost nobody had a good enough computer to run the OS well.
3a. When XP came out, I wanted to try it so I installed it on my old AMD 500 mHz with 256 mb of ram, 10 gb of hard disk space and a built-in video card. my game is no gaming card either, very low memory clock. its for the same purposes as ur card, but mine performs fine
Mac OSX is fine and it is pretty simple. However I hate using bootcamp all the time to run windows apps. I would have a mac only for video and photo editing as well as browsing. For high end gaming and enjoying high definition movies, I would use a pc.
Windows Vista was a nightmare. Bill Gates also knows that. But Windows 7 instead, is a masterpiece. Alot faster than Vista and better looking.
I have them both. They're about the same.
Depends on what you're needs are. One simply can't state that one is better than the other.
For media work, mac is way better, but for office work and gaming, windows (both Vista and XP) are better. But there is none that is overall better than the other.
does anyone know what Windows is programmed in?

Thanks for the Communication. An Technology. Mr Gates.... Awaiting Technology Wave... ; )
