I cut the 1/2" pipe to 13" length, which I think is the perfect length. The outside diameter of the pipe fits very snug in the barrel, so no glue is necessary. The range of the dart does not decrease at all, in fact it seems to even travel further due to the smoothness of the inside of the pipe. (btw, the air restrictor was removed prior to this barrel mod.)

i plan on doing this to my new Retaliator. 2 ?s. What exact ranges are you getting with this, and how much was the pipe? If its too much i might just wanna go with pvc
The conduit can be purchased at any home improvement store. It is a standard product. ½" EMT electrical conduit. It's cheap, a 10 foot stick is maybe $2, no more expensive than PVC. No, the pipe has never shifted within the shaft of the barrel, even with no other securing method. The pressure of the tight-fit has proven enough. If you want, you could probably put a thin wrap of double-sided scotch tap around the pipe and then reassemble, but I didn't find it necessary.
+Karson H. Nope. The accuracy decreases too. The dart bounces around. Airsoft and real steal firearms are more accurate with longer barrels because it makes the projectile spin longer. Nerf barrels dont make the the darts spin. So short barrel =more effective
Just a dude, longer barrels in airsoft don’t mean more accurate, the B.B. rides along the top of the barrel due to the hop up, and bounces around similar to how the dart bounces in th barrel. The best barrel length for an AEG is 363mm.
Jay Curatolo Based on images and what I've seen on other videos, I would say the Retaliator uses the exact same barrel extension attachment as the Recon CS-6. It should fit, but my question is if the pipe has slid around at all since you installed it?
Jay Curatolo Finally got around to performing the mod myself, along with installing an OMW polycarbonate internals kit (which includes a 6kg spring, a step up from the Recon's stock 2.5kg spring). So far it's working good and it doesn't slide unless I forcibly wrench the barrel and twist. Even then, it holds up fine. I asked the staff at my local Home Depot to cut a 14inch length of 10ft conduit, but they went too fast and crimped ends. That was easily rectified with a dremle tool, but I still need to file that to where it isn't slicing into the surface of my darts should they rub against the surfaces of my inner barrels. Jay, this video was genius, and I can't express enough how thankful I am that you uploaded it.
