Hotrodding is a term I am very familiar with. I grew up around them. my dad drag raced in the 70s then went to streetrods in the 80s and went to numerous car shows. I built my first car when I was 17 and was in a car club. I also use hotrodding when referring to paint or visual upgrades. Hotrodcustomizer.
Ah see that makes perfect sense! For me however, with very little car experience, not so much.

How would you DECREASE the power of these guns, so my kid can use them somewhat safely and be able to pull it back easier?

I had multiple nerf pump guns but they’re old
I am new in nerf but i can mod my wolf lr-1
i put on closed captions and instead of 'wiki how' it read 'wiki hell'
Darts are cheap here I can buy 200 darts for 10 bucks
There are three categories...I’m done with life
all of these mods are child's play compared to my first successful mod. so what i did is i put a lot of tape around some pvc and rammed it in the barrel of one of those marshmallow guns that you pump with air. i don't have a chrono reading but it hurt like hell.
Holy shit i now need to get a marshmallow blaster and do it too
