Good video. I use the same set up with you - google voice, vpn, and airalo. I don't keep my phone on airplane mode and look up a lot of stuff while I am out- I don't even use 1 gig of data a week (I do use offline maps and upload my photos on wifi). I bought the Airalo that can be used internationally. I think it was $70 for 20 gigs of data good for 1 year. It has worked for 5 countries so far!
@@micheleisme we were definitely being over-cautious about conserving data! Haven't done the math to compare global and regional vs country-specific plans... may be a good topic for another video... at least an excuse to make spreadsheet!
@@Travelviapoints no problems so far. We've been calling back to the USA on both phones and on the laptop. Good sound quality, not too much lag. Text messages have been going both directions without a hitch.

Good video! I've been looking for a solution like this for awhile! Mint mobile changed their international add-on plan. No issues with regular calls?
