- As part of essential maintenance work, we are proud to unveil a new and distinctive livery for our InterCity 225 fleet!
Featuring LNER’s trademark colours and iconic logo, we're bringing a new look to the trains while also giving a nod to their proud past.
Amazing! Its a fantastic nod to the past of these trains with a subtle yet modern take for the LNER brand. Love it!

InterCity Swallow returns. Apart from 91119, I've never seen a full set in it's original InterCity Swallow. It looks...... Beautiful is one of many words to describe it :-)
I think it looks nicer with LNER in the sides rather than Intercity

I'm absolutely blown away by this. My first train set in 1994, was the class 91 intercity 225 in the swallow livery. its hands down the best, most striking livery ever. Being from Dublin, Ireland, it was even the most striking here, Some 28 years later, i will be travelling on this set with LNER, 1st class, in 2023. Thank you so much LNER, for understanding how trains made people feel, making once a boy, now a man, but still making a boys dream come true by bringing this livery back into service.

The original IC swallow livery was always a winner and I like that they haven't messed with it too much, just a few subtle tweaks for LNER. It's classy but also 80s/90s retro cool at the same time, love it! The Mk4 sets are still a pleasure to travel on (better than the Azumas IMO).

@@c3gfboy7 Interesting... they need to fit a swallow logo to it then for it to be truly swallow livery. LNER Intercity would be more accurate.

Its prefect, a blend of old with new new colour skeems whilst still keeping the original shape and oh my god, it even has a water mark
Never thought I'd see the Intercity livery revived in my lifetime, so kudos to LNER for a great nod to it and keeping the 91s so prominent!

I saw one earlier! I was on the phone to my boyfriend and said 'Oh my goodness' out loud, so he asked me what was wrong and I had to explain I was getting excited about a train. 😁 I thought it was the old livery until I saw this. It's gorgeous! 😍 That made my day. 😊

all it needs for me is a white valance plate but either way its a fantastic livery for the 225 and also your drivers are amazing by letting me in the cab of 91101 to york

amazing livery! the class 91 is my fav train and its going to be very sad to see it come out of service but this is a lovely way to celebrate its last year.
There maybe some IC 225 on the west coast still by grand union but TBH I’m not sure

It is going to last longer than this year, planned to be leased way longer apparently. Besides, why paint a entire fleet if they were going to retire in a year anyway?

Blue and White looks way better than red and yellow. I like it.

Very good choice, they always looked good in this livery, so close to the original yet a nice touch of LNER too. Hats off to those who make the decision to do this. Hope you keep these long term now and do not buy any more Azumas !

Looks great! But I think you need to add a new interior and you need to keep the 225s for another 5 years at least. They are much better than your horrible uncomfortable Hitachi units.

I believe the plan is to apply this scheme to the whole 225 fleet, MK 4s included
They should put the Intercity Swallow & name back on them. I think they should bring back the Intercity brand across the whole network, rather than having so many different brands. I understand it's in private ownership, but if you look back to the days of Intercity, Network Southeast & Regional the branding was easy & simple and surely easier for international & national passengers to understand and use.
How about you keep 10 sets to help standardise the service possibly run them on services like London to Skipton.
They would probably remain on London - Leeds like they are now or to help out with busier services London - York.

Is that upper band black or a really deep red, looks different in different shots but stunning either way.
It's a much nicer colour scheme than the one on the Azumas in my opinion.

Hi there, I believe it is to differentiate different trains so that substitution by one type for the other can occur with minimal disruption to reservations.
Are you still keeping some of the Class 91 Mk4s or will they be transferred for storage.
Some are retained most that are stored will be meeting their end: 4 are already gone.

Keep them in service please, seats are far more comfortable than the Azumas, they are shoddily built trains and very uncomfortable. I do York - Kings X regularly and 225's are a far more comfortable ride.
91110, 91111, and 91119 I don’t think have this livery
