43 years ago, Dr sent me to general surgery to have an ingrown toenail removed. The surgeon showed me how to get the nail to grow properly... I very seldom get them now. The trick is that right after you shower, take a q-tip, pull up on the cotton , snip off a split pea size of cotton. Use a nail file to gently tuck that cotton under the center of the nail. Use the file to move the cotton up under the ingrown. The goal is to make the sides of the nail come strait down, like an unused staple, if it's curled down like a used staple, you haven't done it right. You shouldn't feel any pain, if you do, there's a piece of nail between the cotton and the toe. Leave it there until the nail grows downward instead of curled under. Repeat it cotton comes out.
So how long did you do it? I started doing the same thing 3 days ago and i dont know if it will help i mean it hurts a lot less and there is no swelling or redness i just wanna know how long will it take?
I think it just depends. It's probably different for everybody. But have you continued doing it? Has it worked for you? It's been about 2 weeks since you posted?
My mom has helped a few times with fixing ingrown toenails but I just had to have the surgery done for the second time on one today with the chemical that prevents that part from ever growing back. It’s not that bad. Worst part is the needle especially when they move it towards the part between the toes. Other than that, very easy and simple at home care and the relief from it is amazing even with the pain after because it’s not as bad as before
I can understand that. I’ve had many patients with similar experiences. It may be worthwhile to make the long drive to the podiatrist. mine keep growing back in the same way 😖 for the past 2 weeks, I’ve been just keeping them clipped extremely short, putting dawn on a nail scrub, scrubbing them with warm soapy water, & then dousing them in hydrogen peroxide a few times a day. it’s helped with healing the brakes in the skin around the nails that the nails cause, but my nails keep growing in the same way anyway, which is why now I just keep clipping them to keep them as short as possible & pretty much prevent them from growing. & it starts so far back towards my nail bed & the nail is so wide now, but wide as in tucked in to the sides & corners where only in the past less than a year (not even that, maybe only 3-6 months?), there’s like.. what seem to be puffy, raw, i guess popped or swollen blood vessels, like where my toe begins (from the end). mind you, this ALL started within as i said, less than a year ago. like it really wasn’t even til maybe 5 or 6 months ago that i started noticing my big toe nails cracked with like 3 slits on the ends & are all frail, & the cracks/slits make their way almost to the middle of the nail (which is actually what made me begin investigating my big toe nails in the first place!), & then the ingrown stuff, & then the pain. & then also these puffy, raw, what I am guessing are popped vessels, or maybe just vessels in general but are suddenly noticeable & in pain, around my toe nail, like the start of my big toe.. but where the nail ends, & then the corners, as well (& especially). this all blows my friggin mind, cause I’ve always had REALLY nice feet & toes/toe nails. like my friends would always tease me & say i have perfect feet, but that they’re banana feet lol. but i always did have perfect feet, so I don’t understand how this changed practically over night?! I’ve always had a lot of pride in how nice my feet have always been, & now I’m so embarrassed by them 😣😔 & watching these videos with the cotton solutions, with this being my new reality, my toe nails where they get ingrown are too far IN my skin for me to even be able to get a cotton in there & pull it up from underneath to open up room for it to grow in properly 🙁 how the hell did my big toe nails go from always super healthy & perfect to being like, frail at the ends, cracked, raw, & ingrown, & soooo all-of-a-sudden? note: i work from home & am home practically 24/7, so i never have shoes on. & when i do leave, im wearing open-toe sandals all the time. birkins. so nothing i ever have on my feet ever ever have any pressure, or close-in space, literally nothing. my toes are basically always free ballin lol. & I only wear heels maybe twice in a whole year, so im not kidding when i say that about my toes always having all the space & openness in the world, so I REALLY don’t understand what the hell happened, & basically overnight.
Last month I pulled a nail and after a day I noticed that sometimes was up mostly pus was coming out and I didn't know what to do so I left for a month to this day it looks way better and any pus hasn't came out it's doesn't really hurt now and I wonder do I still need to seak medical attention?

upon a first visit to a new podiatrist for maintenace ...nothing wrong , he cut my nails ...& not straight across but directly short cut in the corners of the big toe ...thought , thats not right , well the right toe gets infected , I have 2 knee replacements & got pretty worried, about infections going straight to the knee implant, go to see him, had to pay another $35 co-pay & he said ..oh you have an ingrown toenail, did not take the blame for the way he cut the nails, was put on cipro antibiotic, & he says ...that nail may have to come off !! I do not want to go to him lost confidence, now what I am 86
If you have an ingrown toe nail infection do not push the pus out even tho it might cause pain relief it will push the bacteria more in you skin that can make the infection worse
i have had 10 surgeries on my big toe and it relieves the pain and bleeds a lot. however two weeks later the swelling starts again and it occurs again. i am very afraid of the only other option which is to chemically stop the nail from growing.

Onyfix can be used in an infected nail like that, along with antibiotics. That said, I generally do a procedure to remove the portion of the toenail causing the granulation tissue/infection. After it's healed, I'll apply Onyfix to prevent it from happening again.

mine keep growing back in the same way 😖 for the past 2 weeks, I’ve been just keeping them clipped extremely short, putting dawn on a nail scrub, scrubbing them with warm soapy water, & then dousing them in hydrogen peroxide a few times a day. it’s helped with healing the brakes in the skin around the nails that the nails cause, but my nails keep growing in the same way anyway, which is why now I just keep clipping them to keep them as short as possible & pretty much prevent them from growing.
I also having ingrown townail since lockdown.pus also come out below nail.had removed nail several times but no solution😓
My toenails get infected so much idek what to do anymore
Last month I pulled a nail and after a day I noticed that sometimes was up mostly pus was coming out and I didn't know what to do so I left for a month to this day it looks way better and any pus hasn't came out it's doesn't really hurt now and I wonder do I still need to seak medical attention?
What if it is already infected
Had 6 surgeries and they still don’t want to do permanent so this is my last option. The numbing hurts to much at this point

Same issue.
upon a first visit to a new podiatrist for maintenace ...nothing wrong , he cut my nails ...& not straight across but directly short cut in the corners of the big toe ...thought , thats not right , well the right toe gets infected , I have 2 knee replacements & got pretty worried, about infections going straight to the knee implant, go to see him, had to pay another $35 co-pay & he said ..oh you have an ingrown toenail, did not take the blame for the way he cut the nails, was put on cipro antibiotic, & he says ...that nail may have to come off !! I do not want to go to him lost confidence, now what I am 86
Bro the side of my toe hurts so bad😡
Where is your place located at and you have a doctrine in getting rid of toenails?
We are in Houston, Tx and take care of ingrown toenails every day.
If you have an ingrown toe nail infection do not push the pus out even tho it might cause pain relief it will push the bacteria more in you skin that can make the infection worse
I was tired of having it so i straight up decided to just cut the side that was bad and once i cut if it was relive instantly
will that not lead to infection?
I had surgery but the dr said leaving the nail as is would be fine and it will gro back but I’m seeing no results
Is there a doctor in NC that uses this?
I've done 4 surgery on my two big toe from last year and this year and it is coming back 😭😭😭😭
thanks king this video really changed the world very controversial there should be more videos and movements about ingrown toenails
i have had 10 surgeries on my big toe and it relieves the pain and bleeds a lot. however two weeks later the swelling starts again and it occurs again. i am very afraid of the only other option which is to chemically stop the nail from growing.
Bro same 💀every 2 weeks i have surgery on my toe too it bleeds a fuck ton and painful as shit
I always just get rid of them I just get the ingrown part out dosent hurt that much and then I’m fine
its literally like a hard resin gel, that's too funny I'm gonna try it with my builder gel
Did you try it?
@@jennak.8541 I did! It worked! I bought false toenails and used it to like force the toenail into the right shape, if that makes sense? I haven't had any new problems with it!
I need surgery and I am scared
Don't be! The worst part is the numbing and even that's not that bad :)
@Fada, Stephen is absolutely correct. The worst part is the numbing and you'll get through that without a problem. Best of luck!
@@ParaBellum1776 dude I cried so bad. the doctor gave me six shots
@@behkawinters3257 they gave me 1 and bitched me out when i said i still felt pain
If I leave my toenail alone, can it heal? Or do I need treatment
I’m wondering the same!!!
@@Lalo7620 I know right? Because all these doctors say surgery is the only way but I’ve also heard that leaving the nail alone heals it naturally
@@memehub.112 Needs treatment ASAP or will get infected and you will require surgery
@@Rebaith I’ve been suffering with it for over 2 years, infection goes and comes, ive been to doctors and they said it doesn’t require surgery
@@memehub.112 but is yours swollen but not painful?
I have an in grown toenail
So braces for your nails. Nice! I need this.... lol
I have a split toenail
Sir, I did not recover from 9 months then I have done surgery then it is not getting better.
Surgery should have eliminated the ingrown toenail problem. If it still appears like its infected, ask your doctor to biopsy it to make sure nothing more is happening.
@@DrAndrewSchneider yes ! Now I'm better
@@manishaa4966 hey Can you tell me what you did I also got surgery done but now it is getting worse again doctor has said to do surgery again
@@Jatin.kumar1 it's ok now
@@manishaa4966 But can you tell me what you did you do that it's now okay I'm also suffering from it if you tell me it'll be a great help, thank you
Doc please tell me what's happening both of my toes are purple and I'm the son of the person who owns this account I still haven't told my mother tell me how to treat it??

Yea, i have an ingrown toenail😭
Where can one get onyfix?
That’s a tough one. I checked their website hoping there was a resource of providers offering Onyfix. Sadly, there’s not. Best I can recommend is search “onyfix near me” and see what comes up. Sorry I couldn’t be more help.
...fix ingrown toenail by making a wedge (not a small one) or by filing down the face until your toe has nail-horns (like a goat).
That's a very "old timey" solution that does work for some. Thanks for sharing it.
Is Onyfix only applicable in office or can I buy it and apply it on my own? My nail salon needs to be able to apply this before a pedicure.
since he mentioned it is followed with an ultraviolet light to "set" it I thought it would have to be the office.... hope not
i have ingrown and blood came out + like dry pus at the side idk
It sounds like it is infected. Be sure to get it checked and treated by a podiatrist.
Brilliant. I wish you were in Israel.
Ayyy houston Texas!! Wooo!!!
Im confused, youre video thumbnail shows a toe with hypergranulation (which is the ugly pushed out meat right?) started, but your other pictures show toes without it.... I have hypergranulation started on left side of right toe, its been like that for about 2 weeks, its slightly worse that on your video thumbnail, can onyfix be used?
Onyfix can be used in an infected nail like that, along with antibiotics. That said, I generally do a procedure to remove the portion of the toenail causing the granulation tissue/infection. After it's healed, I'll apply Onyfix to prevent it from happening again.
@@DrAndrewSchneider Thanks for answer, but i allready got the ingrown nail cut out. Do you happen to know if podiatrists are supposed use anesthesia for cutting out ingrown nails? Because mine said only surgeons use it and didnt use any on mine. It was very painful for about a minute until she cut it out. But atleast its out now.

Why with us this MF
I can't get rid of this it comes again and again pain as fuck how to overcome this
Because not before this Noone had this infecton in my locality no one understand my pain can't even walk freely
Small hit cause huge pain and bleeding... Even when explained everyone says it is mud stucked
Will be fine in some days but now I can't even touch my toe it pains as fuck...
Why dont they use amnesia for this, the numbing injection are excruciatingly painful and they did it several time to make sure the whole area is numb
I really don't want to repeat this surgery of Toe nail removal again 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭.. It's was so fuckin painful.. Not only the Surgery.. But also the anesthetic thy injected thrgh t... Fuck 😭😭😭😭.. It happened again the same finger

This is a fantastic discovery! Where can i get Onyfix ?
Onyfix is applied in the podiatrist's office. It's not available for home use. You should search for it locally to see if there are any practitioners using the system in your area.
I'm not afraid of getting a surgery from my ingrown toenail. It just takes two Weeks if you're lucky to get into the hospital to get it done.
Where is your office?
I’m in Houston, TX
Im actualy not scared of it i kinda covet it
Not sure how to respond to this, but thanks for watching.
I want an ingrown toenail so I can go through this
