- Full Lap during the Circuit Days open pitlane trackday (11/04/17). Unfortunately lost around 5-6s or more through traffic. Car definitely capable of slightly faster than the semi official 8min 5sec lap set by Sport Auto last year, but it's nip and tuck. Brand new tyres and a completely clear track, and somewhere around 8 may be possible.
A lot of fun though, and huge grip out of the tighter stuff. Looks a bit of a handful in places, but actually it's very, very easy to control.
I'de say you lost well over 5 seconds in that traffic. I think on a perfect day on a clear track, pressing this car to the absolute limits, 7:40's is possible.
Fantastic , well driven Mike !
love it !
Hi Mike, stunning lap there mate. I'm jealous you got a full lap in there! I'm used to them putting cones out on the longest straight - I assume you had a proper track day? Jon from UBMRC :)
Very impressive drive 👏👏👏💪...less traffic and you would have well been under 8mims 👍😵
Was the car running factory state or was it tuned??
6:30 adjusting the seat really?
Tom Taylor recovering a bottle of water that came out of the door pocket over Pflanzgarten 1 🙈 Didn’t fancy it ending up under my brake pedal
Mike Hart wow. I like your driving style.some of the overtake huuuuuu nice one :)
no loose items in the car (That rule is just smashed) :DDDD
Amazingly well driven. I was there in the same day with the same car and no where near that time. That is maximum commitment and skill. Hats off to you.
Was it the same colour? I have a video of one from my Rental Swift but doubt it was this one as it would have left me for dead.
Geezus! Don't know what you have more of balls or skill! But I guess you gotta have both to drive like that. Well done sir!
I currently own a Mk3 RS it’s gets such a hard time from just about everyone including RS sites😬 you have just proven how good a car it really is WoW very impressive drive and the car never missed a beat 👍 spot on bro 👍👍👍💥
I'm now desensitized to the sound of rubber being tortured.
Definite bragging rights to the lads at Gaydon. Fantastic driving and extremely brave. Nice see see what the cars capable of. Not that I’d be that brave in mine.
Scott Vasey good spot 😉
great driving!
Really nice drive!
Congrats,this is quick, amazing drive!
Fuck all those other videos of Ken Block and auto journalists, this is top notch and really shows what the car is capable of..............great driving.
Good driving there Mike.
Is is standard pads?
Mk3 Focus RS Club standard pads, discs and fluid yes
Top!!
Wow..
Is this tuned ?
What max speed?
Balls of asphalt..
spettacolo
Lot of boost. Not stock.
Axel R. Not that much more. As stated in the description I had the FPM375 kit fitted, but due to intake temps, it doesn’t appear to make a huge difference once you’re past Swedenkreutz.
Awsome driving mate! I would love to hear what mods you have done on your suspension and swaybar? And what kind of tire you have been use? If this is the RS in Stock setup i would like to see what a RS whit Coils and upgraded swaybars and endlinks can do!
And again, you are a good driver! :)
The_Grey_RS thanks for the comments! Chassis is standard but on Michelin PS Cup2 tyres. Changing the dampers, springs and ARBs would probably have a negative effect. The ‘Ring generally needs good wheel travel and compliance, something which stiffer dampers, springs and ARBs affect negatively. A set of well adjusted Öhlins and adjustable lower arms would probably help, as it could probably do with less rebound damping and more camber all round (it has a tendency to wear the outside shoulder of the tyre on track). That and a set of Porsche N2 spec Cup 2s which are softer than the OE ones would maybe see it dip into the mid 7:50s with a clear track I think.
@@ArosaMike , thanks for answer! Nice to read some pure facts from a guy whit skills on the Ring! I think you have right in much of that you write here. :)
My RS is now being upgraded for my trip to the ring in July whit new KW Coils, swaybars, endlinks and some lighter wheels, so i am seeing forward to test this setup on the track! :)
Are you visiting the RSTTREFFEN this year? :)
Great driving! Next time remember to start the timer at the upper left windshield so we can see your time during the race.
Hon Kit Li sadly the GPS didn’t pick up!
Awesome skills
Great lap! You need to go to Spa so we compare ourselves. So far 1-0 to you by 0.2s in Silverstone. 😡😜
Haha! You need to get yourself to the 'Ring with some Cup 2s ;)
I was going to but now I need to go back to Silverstone to beat your time... 😜
Let's see. You say you changed tires... is that because the others were wrecked? Mine are still in pretty good shape (only done Silverstone). Next month, Anglesey.... Any remarks on the brake performance?
I bought a set of Cup2s before going as I wanted to go for the Sport Auto time ;) Supersports are still relatively ok after Silverstone...
Brakes lasted very well at the Ring. I put a new set of front pads in for the trip out, but they were fine. No significant fade over the lap and no issues driving back on them. Still plenty of material left in both front and rear!
Brakes were absolutely fine. I was quite impressed to be honest. Most standard stuff round there melts by the time you get to Adenau...
nice lap
What driving mode are you in? Is the ESC off?
Thor Smith I had ESC in Sport which in the RS turns off torque downs and widens the margin before you get brake interventions in oversteer. No real need to turn it fully off on track
I also have an RS:), so drive mode in Sport with the ESC button pressed once? Dampers in the soft setting I presume?
I like Mike, Standard tyres or Cup2s for this session.
What driving modes set up?
Good going ! wet ,dry or a combo like this guy : ruclips.net/video/asUlGmiYxbM/видео.html
Cup 2s and in Normal mode with Sport DSC :)
Normal MODE, I think track mode is what it needs to get that last bit of instant throttle response, anyway even in Normal its doing 8:12s and without traffic maybe 8:5s-6s, so this thing sure can do an 8:00.xx range lap time, impressive for a 1590 kg 4 door hatch back
Standard car or Mountune.
There's zero difference in power between Normal and Track. I used Track at Silverstone and it pushes too much power to the rear on throttle which, whilst fun, isn't as fast as a slightly more understeer led balance like Normal Mode. Also, Track dampers are way, way too hard for the 'Ring
Mountune FPM375
so in the hands of a professional race car driver "who usually set manufacture lap times" would this be a 7 min car? seeing as its a good bit faster than the civic type r, but the r is in the low 7 area.
kyle q I think with a totally clear lap and new tyres I could maybe do a high 7 something. It won't beat the Civics time without a lot of modifications
i dont get that. the RS has already proven itself faster on several closed course tracks by various different reviewers. This tells me honda fucked with the civic they used for the ring run, probably had special tires, a suspension setup specifically for the ring, and who knows what else. We all know manufacture ring runs are almost NEVER a car driven from the showroom to the track. Especially lambo, ferrari, mclaran, and porche are guilty of this cheating nonsense. Not to mention they never have some average joe drive it, but go out and buy the worlds current top professional driver at the time. I firmly believe if ford gave the RS the same bogus liar setup situation the civic had it could without a doubt beat 7:46.
kyle q absolutely. Sport Auto could only do an 8min15 in the old car which allegedly did a 7mins50....
Sport auto is a joke. Clearly had a car that did not have the stated horsepower, as many have pointed out. Even when confronted with proof, he stay silent.
Did Honda use a different tire like anyone else on their record lap Yes. Can it go faster than 8.15 on the standard conti 6`s? Yes!
Great lap! Have you a remap as I see you're boost guage goes way right compared to vertically as std.
DalProjectpuma Yes, it's got the FPM375 kit on it. I've compared next to the Sport Auto Lap, and it doesn't seem to actually make any difference in acceleration.... slightly disappointing, but as I predicted, I think the car gets hot fairly quickly and is heat limited. Still makes a big difference on the road though!
Cheers for the info - was thinking of putting the FPM375 on mine soon :-)
DalProjectpuma on the road, it's great. Makes a big difference to the car on a B Road. On a race circuit, you just get to the limits of the hardware quicker! But there are very few road cars out there where that isn't the case! And really, a lap like this is right on the limit of a cars ability. The fact that the brakes and tyres didn't melt and the car was still reasonably rapid at the end of the lap is impressive....
I think you are winning quite more than you thing because of the mod . My focus Rs does not put full boost right away like yours
By the way very nice lap
Gud lap m8 but I prolly cud go faster cuz a got coilovers on mine
Only 30 seconds slower than the FK8. Not bad.
MrStamford78 excellent attempt at trolling. 8 out of 10 for effort. 3 out of 10 for execution
Mike Hart. Lol, it was a little sarcastic! Very nice lap indeed . Now go out and buy that Honda!!!
MrStamford78 The car that everyone agrees is the most hideous thing since the Multipla? With an official time that yet again won't be driven in the real world by the press or any other party because it was done with custom geometry and tires. Good on Honda that they can convince dumbfucks like you to buy their hideous snoozefest of a FWD car that not a soul on earth with half a smudge of sense wants to be seen in though. The power of dreams indeed
@@MrStamford78 the prototype Honda Civic on special geometry and tyres and unlike anything produced for the road? I don't believe those are for sale.
ZenzDeluxe. 1 year on and it is quite obvious the Civic is by far the better car. It's all about engineering you dim sighted fool. 7:43 is a lap this car is just not capable of. The worst RS ever made, totally forgettable. And yes i own one and have driven the other on multiple occasions at Cadwell pk.
