What i love about this is your showing you don't need special clothing, super light bike, super foods or ultra fitness. Just build up an old bike do ots in good condition, have a reasonable amount of riding experience/fitness and just a few basic snacks.

Bro. Seriously. That’s insanely impressive. The thought of 100 miles, especially on a 26er, I would have set myself 10 hours. 😂 Doing that in 6 hours 20… 16.2 mph average. God damn. That’s some endurance riding!
Think I need some of those slick ricks to try out that speed!
But yeah. Mad impressive dude. Crazy crazy achievement!

Dude! Firstly thank you! It nearly killed me but it’s definitely got me ready to tackle more events like this! 26er Endurance Rider has a ring to it hahaha!!
And the slicks are great! They are super thick so I’m hoping very minimal flats. I’ve been using them commuting and they are super nice 👌🏼

Also on a 90's 26er, with all original or period-correct components, 163km and 1780m of climbing, I was averaging 28kph on the first leg but slowed to 23kph overall, finishing dead last at 7:44. A rigid 1990s mountainbike is reasonably efficient-ish (that's why they make so great commuter bikes), so with good tyres that bike might be a lot better than one would assume. But the flat bar would drive me nuts...
Farthest I've ever ridden mine was short of 60km, and I was pretty beaten up. I would not want to ride any longer than about 90 minutes or so without drop bars. I really need my change of hand positions, and the ability to duck down and get out of the wind is also priceless.

Really enjoyable! Yeah, these rides are inspiring, especially when there is some kind of comptomise such as you don't have the newest lightest machine and are not used to doing 100+ miles every week. I do the Eroica Hispania here in Spain every year. Basically riding road bikes older than 1988 along gravel roads used to access wine grouves. Its an achievement just getting to the finnish line! I missed a sign that cut off 40km from the 120km route and it still took me 7 hours!
