I appreciate the fact that you showed the damage to the hands early in the video. Lots of people don't really value how dangerous something is unless they see the damage. I strongly recommend nobody does this.
Recommending that nobody does this is wrong. Every hobby has a certain level of danger while some have higher than most. It's better to recommend that the individual take proper safety steps and practice if they do partake in the activity.
Well you know you can make a gun using a nail and a metal tube on turf wars just put a shotgun shell or any ammunation that fits the metal tube we call it "Sumpak" well creativity puts you some where 😆

For archery I use a burlap bag stuffed (very tightly) with wadded up polyethylene bags as a backstop. Properly packed the bag will stop an arrow from a hunting weight bow with only 2 or 3 inches penetration and the arrows can be easily removed. Been using these for years - they are light weight, weather resistant, inexpensive and don't damage the arrows. Because they are so light they can roll from the impact of an arrow (may not be a problem with the slingshot darts) so I usually hang the backstop from a tree limb with a couple of ropes.
The protective glove is a must when shooting darts. You have to fail only once and that's enough to cause permanent damage to your nerves. I have the old protective glove, but that new glove with the scale design looks cool. I'm currently shooting darts with naturals I have carved. I think frame hit isn't catastrophic with the wooden frame, because darts can penetrate it. I'm hammer gripping, because I find it is much safer way to shoot those.
You're not kidding about nerve damage, once you damage a nerve you're going to know it for the rest of your life. I lost all feeling in my thumb, ring finger and pinky on my left hand after a tablesaw tried to eat it, and though I still have all my fingers they don't do much of anything anymore (especially the pinky, the knuckles fuzed, it's curled up all the way). Playing Xbox? Not so much. Working with my hands doing hobbies? Better git gud with my right hand. Protect your nerves, your appendages don't work very well without them.
Since the body of the dart unscrews, why not have a miniture slide hammer that you can replace the body with and tap the head back out. I had one made out of a bolt to remove my arrow heads from tree stumps. It made recovery of the field tips of my arrows easier with no chance of bending the Aluminum arrow shaft.
Not shooting darts but as a kid living on a small pacific island, we used thin but long bamboo to use in our homemade sling shots. They were rather accurate and strong.
For archery (even with my 80 lb compound) a good target for cheap is a burlap bag stuff full of plastic grocery bags. That setup works better than the expensive store bought targets.... Field tipped arrows are VERY easy to pull out and even with broadheads the target stops arrows very well. The burlap holds up with field points and of torn by broadheads you just layer with a second burlap bag. You can leave it outside and it dosen't get stinky like stacked rug targets. Plus it's very light and can be hiked with it into the woods or hung up easily. I think it would work great with these darts but you won't get that satisfying "thuddd" sound.

The fiestas of the old Tondo in Manila comes to my mind whenever I see this weapon. I have seen one picture of an unfortunate policeman, in one of the big local tabloids, with a freaking dart embedded in his forehead way back in the 80's. From what I can recall, I believe the dart has penetrated half of it's length inside his fore head. Not sure if he died later though as it was really customary for the local gangs there, to poison the tip of those darts to be used against the rival gangs or any poor bastard who happens to raise their ire. They soak the dart tip in muriatic acid which can be bought in local hardware stores.
If you still have the old glove you talked about, and you're willing to shoot real close up. It'd be interesting to see a test of how effective the gloves are at protecting your hand.
Yea I'd really love to see the glove shot point blank with one of these, to see how much it protects. Something tells me those thin scales are gonna get wrecked and they're merely gonna reduce the damage, unless they're hardened high carbon steel, which somehow I doubt with it being 40 bucks and already tediously hand sewn individual scales. Plus, the guy that shot himself in the thumb, shot himself in a part that would've been unprotected anyway.
If you look in the comments someone has already do that test. However the point of the scales is not to take the impact head on they are designed to deflect the projectile and the design works very well. Scales were used for undress of years to deflect arrows from war bows with a draw weight in excess of 100lbs so I think they will do well with a dart from a slingshot.
Awesome looking set up, would Love to see how the glove holds up against the darts 😳 The frames look cool, would love to win one. Just looked them up and they look like they would feel amazing in the hand to shoot.
I would imagine not well. Because of the resistance of the water, any deviation in the retraction of the bands would be amplified and not allow the darts to shoot properly. This is why harpoon gun bands run the entire length of the barrel so they have a "guide" to allow the projectile to increase in velocity without deviating.
The don't. Try shooting a gun underwater, the bullet goes about 2 feet and drops. A dart isn't making it off the elastic before it drops. That's why harpoon guns are fired from the ship deck, and not underwater.
Hi Chris. I really like that frame, nice lines and color combinations. I am pretty scared about using darts, especially after seeing the damage to the fingers and the pain after shooting my thumb with a normal bb 😢😭. Can be interesting to see a demonstration about the real effectiveness of the protection glove. Great shooting and keep on the good work.
Dude this was a very badass educational video on darts like I've fired slingshots in the past and frozen paintballs from a slingshot and I want to give the darts a go. That sleeve looks tight as well man. Thanks for this video.
that glove looks amazing, can't believe it's only $40! I have no frame of reference for this type of product but just judging by the quality I was expecting something easily over 100 if not 200. I do wonder how much force they can take, that dart is traveling *incredibly* fast
it doesn't need to take the force of the dart, it just needs to be able to prevent penetration and deflect the dart away from your hand. I would be more worried about the stitching on the scales coming apart.
I made one of this when I was a kid. My dart was made up of a 4 inches nail with the head cut out and few feathers tied to it using a rubber band as stabilizer. A single band with single handle is more accurate than slingshot type. Worse experience is when the dart shoots backward because the hook didn't release on time. It's a real nightmare when you see the dart behind you and not on your target. Hahaha! But it was fun! We call it "Sima" here in the Philippines.
When I was a kid, I had this great idea of shooting a nail out of my wrist rocket slingshot ... it'd be just like having a crossbow, right? 😄 So I found the biggest, rustiest nail I could find and launched it ... *KA-THUNK* ... right into my thumb. "Mom, I think I'm gonna need a tetanus shot" 😄🤣😝🤪
Look at the black widow sling shot design and note the wrist brace built into the handle, this helps to steady the frame, keep it vertical and puts a lot more power into the shot. We used them for fishing, putting bait out really far! When the fish weren't biting we'd have sling shot battles with mates, firing carp fishing boilies, like a hard ball of condensed bait about the size of a marble, firing them across the lake at each other! A bit like a paint ball without the paint, travelling at like 1000ft / second lol they don't half sting when they make contact!! 😯⚠️💥😁 Safety goggles are optional lol
The last time I tried shooting a dart out of a wrist rocket style slingshot I put the dart firmly into my wrist. Bled like hell. 0/10 would not try again
Made one of these a while back, learned to not use an OTT type frame to avoid injuries. Made a wide frame using a steel rod and stuck a handle on it with a piece of sheet metal to protect my hand. Gotta say, it's very effective for spear fishing
Two things: 1, It is not so much of dragon skin, but a pangolin! 2, Would you need this armor with a TTF frame? The OTT has very little room for error.
Yikes! I can't hunt with a slingshot here so I think I'll steer clear of these (at least for now). I also have my doubts about that glove... Maybe an upcoming penetration test on it? Thanks for the video Chris.
they are actually quite great, due to the way you grip the sling, the scales are pointed torwards the target, and the risk of the bolt slipping under a scale is next to none, the scales will end up deflecting the bolt forward, and the most you'll get is a good old scare and the realisation "i think i've shot enough today"
I realize its probably paint/marker from making the targets, but the fingertips covered in what appears to be dried blood is a nice touch for a slingshot dart video.
My grandpa made me one of these when I was a kid. A single handle and a single band the darts were cut out of firewood in a rough fish shape they were deadly accurate. I later made my own as an adult using butter spreaders shaped on a grinder and it's great for about 50ft
Ever shot fencing staples with it? As a kid we used to make catapults out of old bed springs and elastic bands which slipped in back pocket with ease. The staples used to whistle as they spun through the air. Sometimes they would hit with the points and stick in deep but either way they were pretty lethal. Cheap cheerful and effective.
Loving the videos, totalling hooked on slingshots now and have made three natural fork ones, with thanks to you and your videos. Keep up the good work and mind your hands on them darts....
If ur Filipino.. u already know what this is mostly used for back home. If u watch any old Filipino action films.. u will see this being used as a weapon specially in squatter areas. My homies used to make darts out of nails, fishing weight, bike spokes, basically anything that do damage. But the most brutal one I've seen was someone getting hit with that screw and fishing weight combination. Not to mention that thud u hear when they hit😨
I used to nick my auntie's big crochet hooks to make similar makeshift slingshot darts, using sticky tape for quills and a thick elastic band tied onto a bent up Y-shaped metal coat hanger. 👍🏻
I used to make (much more basic) darts like these when I was a kid that I fired with a modified black widow catapult. Still got the scar on the back of my thumb from one snapping as I fired it. Fun times!
I used the latest generation of Snipersling darts in combination with the Saunders Pro-X wrist rocket (has a forward extended magnum-blast yoke and a built-in hand protector.) Wow. Wow. Lemme tell ya'.....Absolutely brutal. BRUTAL. 😎👍🏻
That guy who shot the dart in his hand , he shots with just the bands , no fork what so ever , so no wonder .... Man , those anodized slingshots have awesome design , in fact these are the first good looking forks appeared in you channel
Oh my God I need that glove asap, my hands are constantly being bandaged due to the type of work I do...love the open hand and that looks like great quality
This is an old school gang weapon in the Philippines. The ammo used are the big nails. What they used to do was lay the nails on the train tracks, and when the train passes over it = instant ammo. So, you don't actually need those guns, the big nails are more cost effective and easier to create. Plus, no need to wait for a train, you can just use a saw and sharpen the tip more using sand paper.
We used this slingshot for a very long time in the Philippines with just a stick of wood with rubber so that as the dart fly, it will just go over the stick unlink a slingshot where your hands will be on the way of the dart

My local bar didn't appreciate me slinging these inside. Now I owe them a new dart board and I'm 86ed.
Great product, would recommend to friend.
Awesome looking set up, would Love to see how the glove holds up against the darts 😳
The frames look cool, would love to win one. Just looked them up and they look like they would feel amazing in the hand to shoot.
I think that gloves dont stand a chance lol
Thanks!
Thanks so much 🙏 ☺️
I wonder how well these could be used underwater. They seem to have everything you’d need, high mass projectile, elastic propulsion, etc
@@darrylkinslow5613 Uhhhhh, there are underwater harpoon guns bro. Look it up.
@@darrylkinslow5613 ya I don’t think you fully know what you’re talking about
@@darrylkinslow5613 You clearly have never watched any Scuba Spearfishing videos. lol.
Excellent vids love the fact that you can just be blokey and get on with the presentation, deadly gear, luv it!
😯
Yeahhhh I could kind of see that one coming
@@_WyreTheWolf And not meant for shooting rusty nails from either ..... apparently 😄
@@dwighthayes4738 Yeah, I never claimed to be the sharpest crayon in the tool shed 😄
@@_WyreTheWolf Wrist rockets were big fun.
Safety goggles are optional lol
The last time I tried shooting a dart out of a wrist rocket style slingshot I put the dart firmly into my wrist. Bled like hell. 0/10 would not try again
Fu**!
Did you hook the dart on the bottom of the string??
I'm not really interested in shooting darts, but I LOVE the little Sniper Sling S-ACE slingshot. I'm going to order a couple.
A ballon slows down a dart?
In theory, yes. But I can’t imagine that you would be able to devise a device that could measure the energy loss.
easy, measure speed with and without, and compare
Made one of these a while back, learned to not use an OTT type frame to avoid injuries.
Made a wide frame using a steel rod and stuck a handle on it with a piece of sheet metal to protect my hand. Gotta say, it's very effective for spear fishing
Two things:
1, It is not so much of dragon skin, but a pangolin!
2, Would you need this armor with a TTF frame? The OTT has very little room for error.
Safety first, and dragon skin just sounds nest.
Those darts are the only ones ive seen with fletchings so far and that hand protector is farkin GEORGEOUS
Do you think you can make some out of wooden dowels rods to practice with in addition to the glove? I think it would make a good way to train safer
Sweet for fly hunting. I will order the dragon skin protector, looks high quality. Thanks. 👍
Yikes! I can't hunt with a slingshot here so I think I'll steer clear of these (at least for now). I also have my doubts about that glove... Maybe an upcoming penetration test on it? Thanks for the video Chris.
they are actually quite great, due to the way you grip the sling, the scales are pointed torwards the target, and the risk of the bolt slipping under a scale is next to none,
the scales will end up deflecting the bolt forward, and the most you'll get is a good old scare and the realisation "i think i've shot enough today"
Never seen or heard of these before. Good video, great background clearance as well, was definitely entertaining and most of all: informative.
Is this why you have blood all over your fingers?
Don't care about the sling shot but the hand protector is awesome! Going to get it for archery. I've had a few fletchings in my hand over the years.
I'm a metal artist and this has given me some ideas. Thanks for the video.
Excellent shooting, and a great frame.
I love the scenery! Such beautiful land!
The dragon scale glove is certainly a must have! I've never seen one before, but is sure is cool!
I used to nick my auntie's big crochet hooks to make similar makeshift slingshot darts, using sticky tape for quills and a thick elastic band tied onto a bent up Y-shaped metal coat hanger. 👍🏻
Watched about a minute and the dudes hands are covered in blood 🤣. You have my attention! 😂
Very cool improvements to the slingshot. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the heads up on these darts! Those wounds look awful
I used to make (much more basic) darts like these when I was a kid that I fired with a modified black widow catapult. Still got the scar on the back of my thumb from one snapping as I fired it. Fun times!
Thank you so much for the vital infos. many will quietly appreciate this. You are truly one of the best and honest person! SALUTE! I subscribed!
I made something like this using rubberbands and coconut twigs as a kid. Looks so cool.
I was NOT prepared for the *how it can go wrong* footage hahaha
I used the latest generation of Snipersling darts in combination with the Saunders Pro-X wrist rocket (has a forward extended magnum-blast yoke and a built-in hand protector.) Wow. Wow. Lemme tell ya'.....Absolutely brutal. BRUTAL. 😎👍🏻
That guy who shot the dart in his hand , he shots with just the bands , no fork what so ever , so no wonder .... Man , those anodized slingshots have awesome design , in fact these are the first good looking forks appeared in you channel
Great Christmas gifts for the grandchildren. Thanks for sharing.
Them darts look terrifyingly awesome lol great video again chris.
Oh my God I need that glove asap, my hands are constantly being bandaged due to the type of work I do...love the open hand and that looks like great quality
Hello sir i from iran and im teaching a lot of things from you thanks for making video⚘
I like your idea. It seems superior to a forked slingshot.
@@wutntarnation back then we just use no. 4 or 5 nails and feathers form chicken or broom as fletching, this has been used in the Philippines since the 60’s by gangs and prisoners and we called it Indian PANA
@@huemungus1491
I am going to make one of these. What did you use for the elastic? My son's muay thai teacher is from the Phillipines. Some of the finest people I've ever met.
@@wutntarnation he’s from the Philippines? Just ask him about Indian pana, most Filipinos knows what that is
@@wutntarnation but be very careful of using this weapon, I’ve heard many stories that after releasing the dart, it get stuck on the wire that holding it and rotate back to the body of the shooter if not made correctly.
Eye protection. Goggles recommended just in case there's a hanging arrow backfire. It use to happen with paper clips and rubberband weapon I had that was a bit similar
Wow, that dragonscale glove is a real thing of beauty.
Definitely gonna do this as my new hobby to add to spear throwing
Your voice is so cool. Sound like a real weapon of a person. Good vid
Thanks for turning me on to these darts they are fun and scary as shot to shoot every single time
My late grandfather's slingshot only use a single strand of rubber and he used an "I" shape rather than the "Y" shape to hold the rubber. . . .
It's come a long way since I was shooting standard dartboard darts with an old wrist rocket. (sketchy. you pinch the dart in the pocket at the grip, with the fins sticking Up. Probably not the safest thing I ever did, but it worked)
I remember trying to do this with pens the 2nd one i fired went strait though my hand. That hand armor is good thinking.
I would wear that glove just because it looks bad ass. Legit quality piece.
i made one when i was like 12
took a cheap toy sling and put some tips from some broken darts on some plastic toy suction cup toy darts, strong flexible flanges
i just shot darts like a rock, from the center of the dart, and flanges straightened it out in the air.
Where can I buy one off those catapults I would love a red one please let me know ASAP thank you 😊
Beautiful Slingshots and Awesome Dart kit. But even with the Protection Glove it's a bit Scarey. Those Chinese Guys with the Accidental Thumb hits , I bet that Hurt. I will stick with the Marbles.
Nice Video. ☕
I think you should thicken the shielded part with some sturdy 3-4mm cowhide on the under side of the dragon scales.
These damaged hands were wild bro, i think im never gonna even touch an slingshot like this ever in my life now lol
If the darts are magnetic try and use a shop magnet to get them out of foam or use an arrow to push them straight through
I always wondered what kind of pants Dartmen wore. Nice.
I'd like to seee how dependable and durable those Dragon scale gloves.
The topic and your accent, brilliant
Thank You
i really wanted to have one of this..
