When it comes to CS:GO, we all know that s1mple is straight up nuts.
Thing is, he doesn’t have the most Majors, has never really stood at the centre of a so-called ‘era,’ and his trophy case isn’t as chock-full of silverware as some of his contemporaries’.
So, why is it that the vast majority of the community commonly considers Sasha The Smasha to be the greatest gunner ever to grace Global Offensive?

I think the reason why most people in the CSGO community consider s1mple as the goat, is because he's the first to have reached such a high level professionally but more importantly because he's been able to keep this level for what now feels like an eternity. While others that competed close to his level all had at one point in their career struggles, but not s1mple. Ence why most people pick him as the goat, amongst many more things such as his journey from EU to NA to EU...

s1mple is so good that even without having the most trophies, everyone considers him the GOAT. That just shows you how good he is.
s1mple is the most diversely decorated player in modern CS. Kato, IGS, Cologne, Major, MVPs, 2x Top 1s, the list goes on.
Even if Zywoo gets top 1 this year, he will never win Cologne in CSGO, and if Vitality don't win EPL and IEM Sydney, he will never win a grand slam in CSGO. If Kato 2024 is in CS2, he will never win Kato in CSGO.

Even as a device fan i vote simple over him for another reason. Astralis completely revolutionized csgo and how its played now in the 2020s but we never really got to see how Dev1ce stood up against a world of counter strike rapidly changing because he took his break. Hes still good now of course but I'm not sure even if astralis stuck together that he would have continued to become much more decorated than he already is. S1mple on the other hand and Navi were extremely formidable the last years and he overcame all his challenges to win that major, and on top of that is still doing remarkably well considering the effect of the Ukraine War.
i definitely agree on the challenges. Even before covid hit navi was the strong contender to finally win the major, which then obviously wasn't possible due to everything being online. In 2021 he definitely proved he is the best to ever do it. Most dominant major run and major mvp performance of all time... and even with that his highest peak was already 4 years before. He outdid himself, even against better competition and with worse circumstances. Goat status for me personally.

Thank you for the Olofmeister mention. His 2015 year is still the one of the most impressive peaks. His role consisted of doing literally everything as a rifler and he was still the best player in the world. True Swiss Army Knife of a player in his prime.

There's no way Niko doesn't get even a mention in this video. Unbelievable. While Twistz got like 2 minute coverage. Obviously he doesn't have the titles but if you ask people, it would be unanimous that Niko is better than Twistz and the best rifler in CSGO history 👑

Otherworldly plays, legendary moments, attitude, and skill, you don't remember GOATs of sports just from their trophies or accolades, but from how they display and present themselves in their games. This is why many ppl remember Messi's dribbles, "ankara messi", evo moment 37, Faker vs Ryu, the Ali shuffle, etc.
of course, this is why f0rest its the best of all time, with SpawN from SK...SpawN is like Pele or Maradona, f0rest like Messi and maybe s1mple like Ronaldo. like Ali we can say is HeatoN :))

I think s1mple makes the game looks different, i can see a good dev1ce match and think "oh i could do that", but when it comes to s1mple playing at his level, i never gonna think about playing like him. We also have the "famous" factor, i'm not 100% sure, but at least a 80% of that all players mentioned on this video, in a overall they hasnt half of fame who s1mple has.
exactly. dev1ce obviously has very good aim and is very smart with how he plays, but i can look at a demo and it makes logical sense how and why dev1ce did the thing he did. with s1mple, his game sense is so other worldly that it doesnt even make sense why he does what he does, even with x ray on.

As a sports fan, I absolutely love the Bobby Orr example. Dude was insane, outscoring everyone as a defensemen, by a lot. He would skate circles around people like actually, you can look it up.
Just a bad take... if you take all the goals away from Gretzky, he's still the leader in points. The only player that even came close was Mario but the injuries ended that.

He also had a higher plus minus than gretzky, granted he played much less games but Bobby Orr was just the best player on both ends of the ice when he was out there. Wayne gretzky was just the best forward.
No it IS a bad take. Gretz is the all time GOAT and it doesn't even come close. And dont argue the injury bs either, staying healthy is part of being the GOAT. Can't get a mention as a GOAT if you aren't even the best player on the team that you won it all with let's be honest here. This is why dupreeh never entered that debate until he won his 5th major with a team that isn't dev1ce's. That's why Twistzz wasn't even the 3rd best NA player until he accomplished more on FaZe since NAF/EliGE overshadowed him on Liquid.
FalleN's a GOAT for what he did for the Brazilian scene, but not for what he did as a player or IGL much in the same way zonic is the GOAT coach and not as a player.
Yeah, I love FalleN but the guy above me is right. He's a legend, but I wouldn't call him GOAT, not of CS:GO certainly. I have so many players I love. Snax, Pasha, Neo, Karrigan, get right, f0rest, olof, scream, kennys etc. I love all of them and they are legends to me, but I can't call any of them the "GOAT" (of CS:GO at least, looking at tou neo, the GOAT of 1.6) knowing how good s1mple is.

No, he isn't. S1mple's an insanely gifted player, but not a very good teammate. He tends to get toxic very quickly if the match isn't going in his favor, and his performance tanks as well.
Device on the other hand is smart, patient, very reliable, and cracked out of his fucking mind. I'd take devve over s1mple any day of the week without a question. Same with Zywoo.

No matter what team you're rooting for, no matter how large of an advantage they may have, it doesn't even matter if it's a 1v5, as long as simple is alive you're gonna have a nagging feeling of fear.
S1mple is the undisputed most individually skilled player ever, no question. If you're talking about the goat in terms of trophies it would be Dupreeh, Twistzz or Device
Dupreeh has the most majors, that's true, but in terms of other trophies (MVP's etc) I think device edges him out.

Really agree with the guy who said that team accolades do need to be considered, since at the end of the day, it IS a team game, and individual performance can only get you so far. It takes a truly skilled player to not only be impressive alone, but also while on a team with some of the other best players in the world.
actually that can be taken two ways, your peers in csgo take note of your solo outplays more than they do when you win championships. I love messi because of what hes done on the pitch, his trophys dont define him as the goat his ability does.

Why are people bringing this conversation over and over again? He has been in the scene from very long and individually no one comes close to him. He has most MVPs in the game, highest rated player with a lot of maps played, highest rated player in a major ever, three times HLTV #1, player of the decade, most aces on LAN in the same tournament! Let's talk about some more accolades what stats can't show. He played with likes of edward and zeus and was literally carrying the team. Has won ESL One cologne twice and out of that he won it once with a weak navi. He took liquid on the brink of one major finals and one major semi finals. That itself is a big achievement. Leaving your comfort zone, playing in a different team with a huge communication barrier. His game sense, flashy plays, in game IQ is certainly the best ever! What an aggressive player he is. Also has been quite consistent throughout his career.

I don’t play CSGO or follow the esport so I don’t know much about Simple. But I do know to be considered the GOAT it takes more than individual talent. Look at the GOAT of any sport they always have talent + titles. The main reason that many people put Jordan over Lebron is finals record. 6-0 vs 4-6.
You hit the nail on the head. I’m not even a counter strike guy lol I just started playing like 2 weeks ago on cs2. But when you said the magic a player brings and how you feel watching them play is what makes them the best. I still to this day get a giddy feeling when I watch faker and no other player does that from me. It’s all about vibes.

There's not gonna be any more significant tournaments, so for CSGO, things are pretty well locked in
s1mple skill level is gonna be mid in like 20 years if cs stays alive that's just how it works unfortunately
@@fykee4371 I wouldn't say that's the case. The floor will probably go up (Just look at 2014 tournaments vs 2023), but I think when it comes to skill and mechanics the ceiling won't go up that much. I think that most pros are gonna be on a level very close to current s1mple or zywoo, but I can't see them going above. For some time now we've been in that period where any "prodigy" player like Zywoo or m0nesy is considered to be that good just because they can match s1mple's peak and perhaps maintain that for longer periods of time. But that's also because s1mple is getting older. I can't judge if he's past his prime, but he's not gonna keep getting better. But we'll see, I might be wrong lol.

For me, device might be the most consistent awper and thats naturally to be feared. But simple has this aura that you will almost certain be at a losing side against him if he is still alive in the server. Device instills fear with his consistency. Simple instills fear with his presence alone.

it's simple. CS is about having fun and looking epic while doing it. AND NOBODY does more consistent gangster plays that Sasha.
I have heard somewhere a phrase like this: S1mple is there go back go back!!!. I have seen countless CS match with Navi and their opponents did the exact same thing in that phrase because they know who got the skill and the consistency to overrun a team by himself. And not Twistzz, not Olof nor Dev1ce is there but S1mple is there. Maybe Zywoo would take his status in the future we never know, but right now it is what it is and S1mple is GOAT no doubt.
