I met Albert Finney several times and got to chat with him. He was such an incredibly kind man, no airs about him. Just so down to earth. Amazing talent.
I fell in love with Albert Finney in" Saturday night Sunday morning" as a young woman . I've loved him ever since. Remarkable Actor. Tremendous loss. Condolences toFamily . RIP
Yes two for the road is actually here for free but it's listed as un camino para dos 1967 ... yes the whole movie is in English . ... and I'm glad I just found the whole shoot the Moon movie here . Just look up Albert Finney and Diane Keaton ( shoot the moon ) on neo the-one channel ... channel name might be in capitals I'm not sure
Saw him first in Erin Brockovich, I was like who is this old man? To me, he carried that movie. I remember thinking he was in the mold of Hopkins, Duvall, Hackman and the like. An old timer for sure. Glad I discovered his work in subsequent years. Farewell
Did you ever see him in that social realism movie called Saturday Night Sunday Morning ? He was so young in that . Yes I remember him in the other films such as Tom Jones or Two for The Road with Audrey Hepburn and then they made a follow-up film to that .
This is not his native accent. He was born in Salford, England. His real accent would have been very much like the character he plays in Saturday night Sunday morning. That is how he would have spoken until he attended Rada
One of the best films I ever saw with Finney was called "Orphans (1987 film)" and has stayed with me all these years. So sorry this phenomenal actor is gone and will not grace our screens and minds and spirts any longer. Miss you Albert! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orphans_(1987_film)
I met his cousin today. "Finney, that sounds so Irish!" He told me about his kin and I can't wait to get back to him tomorrow! "Have you ever seen the movie Annie?" His cousin is so humble and handsome too, as very older man. ❤
Finney was such a huge actor its hard to believe he only was interviewed by one of America's biggest late-night interviewers once, and on his second week of late night. Finney had some cold patches in film, but he remained a name presence with some big roles to come like "The Dresser," "Under The Volcano," "Miller's Crossing," and "Erin Brockovich." You'd think their paths would have crossed again. Sweater look is unusual for Dave. I don't recall him ever being TV without a tie except in skits.
Albert died last year but he will always be remembered by his friends because now I am 83 him and I would have started school age 4 during v1940 when school leaving age was 14 and summer holidays only 4 weeks.
Wow that's really incredible . So when you went to school you only had 4 weeks off in the summer ? ... that's terrible ? Has it changed in the UK where they have longer summers to enjoy now instead of having to go to school during part of the summer ? I can only imagine the incredible changes you have seen in the UK in your lifetime
What a remarkable actor, gone. Thank you for being so timely, as usual. Don if you're reading this, I could have sworn you had a Richard Simmons compilation, but I looked through your uploads 2x and all I can find is a single clip of Richard rehearsing a bit w Dave's mom. Am I mis-remembering or did I overlook it?
One of the top five actors of all time. If you have not seen The Dresser I would urge you to see it as soon as possible. He was absolutely amazing in it! 😮
If this was February 1982 I am assuming he had already wrapped filming of his role as Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks in ANNIE, because the movie was released in the summer of that same year, and here he has all his hair.
Him and Ollie Reed certainly maintained a lifelong devotion to booze but Ollie must have been more of a self medicating type with his demons eventually robbong his soul , while Albert seemed to have had the capacity to resolve his issues without utter self sabotage.
Wow, just discovered your amazing letterman channel Don Giller, really great stuff. I have always wanted to find a letterman skit I saw on tv around 93-94 but never have found it. I think it was a Top 10 list sketch, but somehow combined it with throwing the Top 10 card out the studio window (shatter glass sound), to drop to the streets, and then when the camera switched to show the New York street, a man was impaled by a giant Top 10 card. So funny, always wanted to find that sketch. Did you remember the sketch I'm talking about Don? Could you possible post it? Please and thanks for any information.
The closest I can find at the moment is a Viewer Mail bit from February 8, 1991. Dave throws his card to a building behind him. The giant card lands in the living room of a family.
His resemblance back then is uncanny to Trump at this time. Color his hair and small amount of makeup, and he could have been the best Trump impersonator without trying too hard.
I met Albert Finney several times and got to chat with him. He was such an incredibly kind man, no airs about him. Just so down to earth. Amazing talent.
He was such a humble man. You would never think he was such a great movie star. Just a regular ol' Joe.
Captain Webb
Will you commit to this program
Around which years did this happen ?
LOVED HIM IN TOM JONES!
Albert Finney was the best Scrooge ever. I watch the movie every Christmas season. And the songs are fabulous.
100000% the best version. Muppets are a (close) second.
albert finney was a great actor and will be sorely missed. RIP.
I fell in love with Albert Finney in" Saturday night Sunday morning" as a young woman . I've loved him ever since. Remarkable Actor. Tremendous loss. Condolences toFamily . RIP
Albert Finney was brought up in my home town and lived along the road from my childhood home. Wonderful actor. RIP Son of Salford
Watch Scrooge! Finney is amazing, as in so many roles. Our family watches Scrooge every Xmas. Classic!
Thanks for being Albert Finney
Ebenezer Scrooge the sins of man are huge. A never ending symphony 🎶 😢 I looooove you in Scrooge 1970’
TWO FOR THE ROAD(1967) w/ Albert Finney and Audrey Hepburn. My favorite film.
Albert's voice had changed here since his earlier days. One of the unsung greats. Saw Sat Night yesterday. Great actor.
He is an actor, you know.
My favorite movie of his is scrooge. Rest in peace.
I loved Albert in the Russell Crowe film "A Good Year" where he played the eccentric uncle of the character played by Russell.
One of my all-time favorite actors. Thank you for all your talents-a gift to us all. Rest in Peace, Mr. Finney.
I first saw Albert in Two for the road movie with Audrey Hepburn. And istantly fell in love with his charm and superb acting.
Great movie 1967. X
I love all of his movies. I'm watching Shoot the Moon now and just thought to look him up on yt.
Yes two for the road and then they did another one I think that was meant to be a follow-up to that ... ?

This was great - thanks so much for sharing. He'll be so missed!

Farewell
Erin Brockovich was the first film I saw him in. I did not realize he was British.
@@jessicacampbell4142Same!

Mr. Finney is one of the great actors. There are few, but he is one.
Love him. What a great actor and so charming too.
one of my favourite movies made is Orphans (Albert Finney, Matthew Modine and Kevin Anderson); touched me very deeply
This is the first time I've ever heard Mr. Finney speak in his native accent
This is not his native accent. He was born in Salford, England. His real accent would have been very much like the character he plays in Saturday night Sunday morning. That is how he would have spoken until he attended Rada
Salford is a suburb in Manchester, England to be precise. He trained at rada.
Loved him in Big Fish. Also Wolfen, a sadly underrated movie! A classic English actor. RIP.
Thank you so very much for posting this.
Shoot the Moon was an amazing film. One of his best out of many! His best roles were during the 80s.
Such a talented actor one of my favorites

Loved Shoot the Moon.
Dave: Let me ask about your early life. Finney: I'm still having it!!! I loved that.
"Earlier geographically rather than chronologically is what I meant to say." A young Mr. Letterman extracts his foot from his mouth!
I just finished watching Erin Brockovich and Albert had a great performance in it. It’s fascinating to now hear him speaking in his own accent

I hope that my biography of Albert, Strolling Player, has paid him proper tribute. Available on Amazon. RIP Albert
An amazing actor R.I.P
he was 34 when he played scrooge and my god here he’s in is late 40s . he truly dived in the role of scrooge so perfectly.
Finney was confident, charming, and carried that segment. Letterman still had a ways to go in his interviewing skills.
That was FAST!! Way to go, Don!!
Great actor... down to earth... r.I.p
He just pass away a few days ago :( i think he was a great actor enjoy him in the movie like Breakfast of Champions and
The Dresser
AND....Under The Volcano.
I loved Albert Finley he was gorgeous and a fabulous actor and a very kind man 🧡❤️💗💖💙💜🥰
Excellent actor
Yeah nice upload, liked his work RIP
My First ‘Hercule Poirot ‘.
"Shoot the Moon" is one of the best domestic dramas ever. Extraordinary script and performances.
Albert was a handsome man
i hope my biography Strolling Player does him justice. Shoot the moon is covered extensively in the book.
Have you seen him in Wolfen? Loved him to bits in Scrooge, go with God Sir...
I love him from SCROOGE
Great Actor. Loved him as Scrooge in 1970. I watch it every Xmas

Thanks, and that's right. All I've put up so far is his rehearsal and a remote in New Jersey: ruclips.net/video/rk6rGgcH_e0/видео.html
@@dongiller Thanks, I could've sworn you had a compilation, or some of his individual appearances.
Not yet. It's on the list.

He would have made such a great 007.
Loved him.in good year with russell crowe❤
fantastic movie!!fantastic performance by all of them
The green Man.
That I think it was fall/winter...he'd be starring in Annie
The tape/air date is in the video title.
I like life, life likes me.
Looker became one of his best.
Just watched "The Dresser' last month.....
Him and Ollie Reed certainly maintained a lifelong devotion to booze but Ollie must have been more of a self medicating type with his demons eventually robbong his soul , while Albert seemed to have had the capacity to resolve his issues without utter self sabotage.
Salfords favourite son.
I'm Still Having IT!! Ha!

Wow! Yes, it was a "Viewer Mail" segment for sure, Thanks so much. Is that one posted anywhere on youtube or the internet?
I haven’t put it up yet. Will after other priorities.
Oh nice! Thanks man.
1:01😂😂😂
Finney seems a bit tipsy here. No?
6:43 very very funny
His resemblance back then is uncanny to Trump at this time. Color his hair and small amount of makeup, and he could have been the best Trump impersonator without trying too hard.
His accent started to faded away
Wolfen
Daddy Warocks Annie
What is wrong with Finney in this interview? His voice, his mannerisms... What is he doing??
Why is he trying to be something that he clearly isn't?
still in roll-play?
This was his real voice and accent
How the fuck is Finney so funny?
The OG Hercule Poirot from "Murder on the Orient Express".
