Slim, I just purchased a lazy days RV I’ve been Boondocking for about six weeks hassled by security and The man. What an experience! And yet I am a very fortunate man I have my home on wheels and it’s nice. I plan on hitting all 48 states in the contiguous United States. Watching your video is an inspiration for me. Thank you very much Slim !
Slim, loved the intro in the rear view mirror. I said to myself "Hey, Slim is really looking professional now". Little did I know. Your photography, lighting and subject matter are outstanding. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Slim, I was working photographer for 25 years and as a result I’m incredibly picky, and I have to say your videos are consistently superb. This one may be my favorite thus far. You’re a photographic eye, editing, pacing, choice of music, script writing and narrative skills- all in perfect balance. I very much appreciate these videos since in my retirement I am doing quite a bit of traveling with our camper. Thanks again!
Outstanding. Brought me back to a brief visit to Valley of Fire in 1996. Thank you so much for your beautiful, professional photography and presentation.
Slim- this was a magnificent video. Your appreciation for your environment combined with your storytelling skills and videography/photography was at its best. The music...everything. I loved the mud patterns!!! And I seriously would purchase a copy of that 3rd still photograph at the end. Can I?
Hi Shalome, Thanks for your kind words. I put some images on my blog which I assume can be downloaded. I'm still learning how to do things online but will figure it out. Go to the "About" section and send me an email. Thanks Again! Slim
Yes quite the narrator for such a gorgeous place. Thanks for the great photography and video. Im keeping this one on my phone so I can remember it Laurie from Texas. Hope I can be one of the tribe soon.
Another great video. While I appreciate all the tips/tricks/gear videos online, you are my favorite "storyteller" on RUclips. You obviously put a lot of passion into creating scripts, setting scenes, and shaping a narrative. I give presentations for a living (avoiding Death By Powerpoint), I storyboard my slides with images like a movie vs. filling the screen with words. Since the human person is hardwired for story, I've learned that's what really helps people remember your content - when images connect head and heart. I hit the road part-time with my rescu-er Bella in a Promaster City with a Wayfarer Van conversion. I was just in Valley of Fire and Gold Butte a couple of weeks ago. Still nippy, but perfect weather for hiking. I camped in Virgin River and Valley of Fire. I stopped at Poverty Flats along the way, but it was way too windy up there at the time. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us! Here's my quick Valley of Fire video ruclips.net/video/sbdjnv7HPLo/видео.html
Thank you so much for introducing us to Valley of Fire State Park. We had never heard of it before watching your video and added it to our itinerary after seeing what a fantastic place it is. We were not disappointed! Really enjoyed it despite the heat. Thanks again!
Thank you for the opportunity to visit the natural areas you visit on your journeys. I appreciate your attention to the details in nature. Sets your videos apart.
Every video I watch from you just keeps getting better and better. I think you missed your calling from you 9 to 5. Can't wait to see more of your travels.
I had to watch this video again! You are a wonderful videographer. Because of you, we did get to Valley of Fire in February 2020, before everything shut down because of COVID. Can not wait to get back out west. Thank you!
Beautiful scenery, Slim. Well done and I love how you narrate your video as well. I had never heard of the Valley of Fire State Park before. Thank you, for the introduction to the stunning Park!
I know this is an old video, but just visited Valley of Fire the other day and hiked White Domes Trail. Felt like I was on another planet. Really enjoyed your video. Hope your current trip here in the US is as enjoyable 😀
i was there a couple of years ago for one day and frankly was blown away by the place you did a great job of showcasing the park its only about an hour from vegas and well worth the ride many thanx
Slim, AWESOME Video! I am embarrassed to say that I lived only 200 miles away from the Valley of Fire for over 30 years and never visited it. This will go on my bucket list of places to visit with my A-Frame. Thanks again for your video talents.
You are a true artist with an adventurers Soul...you have found your Dharma..I keep saying to myself every time I watch one of your videos, this is going to get picked up and he's going to become famous ... Part of the charm is the simple easygoing manner with which you present. So for now, you're a you tube treasure.🧚♂️
Wow, what a place!! nice shots great light, well done, very good video. Cheers

Some of the most interesting stuff in the desert areas of the western US are right at your feet. While dry camping near Quartzite AZ, I was poking around near my tent camper and found a flat rock about the size of a small cookie embedded at eye level in saguaro cactus. How fascinating that before I arrived, who knows how long ago, the winds had blown hard enough to pick that rock up and fling it hard enough to stick it in that tough old cactus hide.
Every video is unique. I am getting a lot of information from your travels, and I will be traveling to the Valley of Fire. I like Nevada. I see the intro image of your A trailer and the early morning light against the mountains as a cover photo for a magazine with a title: Traveling solo in the A-liner in the American Southwest. After the rain the colors pop in the desert atmosphere, good photography.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful video! How appropriate for you to camp at "Crow's Nest", LOL :D Valley of Fire was earmarked as my first destination when I begin my journey in April. How appropriate for you to camp at "Crow's Nest", LOL :D Thoroughly enjoyed this and looking forward to your next "documentary", Mr. Slim . . . safe travels.
great video and narration. A couple extra tips on valley of fire in case people see this. up on top driving along the central road the blue green hills on the right-east are cretaceous one of the few spots in the state. They get fossils including tryranosour teeth there but no entire skeletons. after leaving the east entrance you came in going south a few minutes is Rogers spring which is 80 degrees and flows 1000 gallons per minute-nice huge parking area. THe source of the water its believed comes underground from the highlands up near Ely 250 miles away. people ask why the color variations of the sandstone? It started red and paleo fluids flowed through bleaching it white because reducing fluids dissolve the thin iron oxide coatin. Then when and if those fluids encounter fresh water with oxygen the iron precipates back out as rust and forms concretions. That area by the way was an oil/gas field that had its top eroded away losing the volatiles to the air. Silica dome by the way is where they filmed the Captain Kirk death scene from Star Trek. The small bridge they fought on and jumped off during the fight scene which was at the very top-they took the bridge afterwards and placed it over a ravine near Elephant rock. Its barely 200 feet north of the road.
This is first time watching your journey...my brother follows you and he told me to give you a view. I enjoyed your beach ⛱️ time, I love to hunt shells🐚 you found some really good ones. Thank you for sharing , I look forward to the next journey. Stay safe.
You take the MOST amazing videos and SO well edited and narrated! I have a cousin that lives in Vegas and I’m in NewOrleans area. Praying for a rig on my upcoming 62nd Birthday. I think this place might be a first adventure place to visit. Looks like some fine hiking!
Unbelievably good photos of Valley of Fire. The colors were perfect. I have driven past that mesa south of Overton and seen the campers up there, and never gave it a thought. Now I know that it is Poverty Flats. Based on your video I have to go back to Valley of Fire again. Since you are close to Las Vegas, I assume that you will be visiting Lake Mead and Red Rock recreation areas. If so, will treat you to a great meal at the restaurant of your choice. Also look up camping in the Mojave National Preserve in California near Baker. Continue the Journey!
I been going by the exit off of the interstate there for 30 years and finally I get to see it through your wonderful video. Thank you very much. You ever come through Henning,Mn you are most welcome to camp in my farm yard all you want.
