It means that when you make an otherwise terrible play, the midlaner can be there to bail you out and turn it good. Playing against an enemy winning mid, as a jungler is a nightmare. Constantly at the risk of the enemy fed mid running into your jungle to bully you. Maybe together with enemy support, jungler or top laner. You have to constantly give up camps or die. Looking for any tiny advantages and plays you can make to hang onto the game with claws and teeth. One mistake sending you even further back. Say you contest your blue buff at level 7 against an evenly matched jungler invading you. The enemy mid however is up two levels and half an item. He has prio and your mid is catching a wave under the turret, chunked to half hp. You just have to swallow your ego and walk away. You see the mid laner disappear? You know he is coming to kill you. Same game goes further. Same situation. But this time tier 1 turret from mid is gone. So what does that mean? It means that if you die defending that blue, they can walk right past where the T1 turret used to be, and also grab your redbuff side jungle. And that's how your jungle games completely spiral out of control against a winning enemy mid. They are stronger and can be everywhere. Your mid is cucked under the turret just trying to survive.
Maybe people who don't play league will believe this is not boosting, but the difference it can make to have a midlaner that's just better than the elo is massive.
Realistically even if he's outperforming his duo partner, he's still in call with a higher skill player who is helping guide him through the games. Lud the ranking in your team dont matter as much as you think cuz lets say higher elo players they can get 5th every game but still carry with theyr decisions or whatnot

For anyone doubting atrioc is boosting him, lud will eventually ego and solo queue, and because of this within a few weeks atrioc and luds elo will diverge, atrioc will hit gold pretty easy in under 50 games and lud will not be anywhere close
