Meet Frank Dinardi (dinardivisualproductions.com/). 2 years ago, Frank was a landscaper living with his dad. Today, Frank has a wife, a house, a baby, and a job doing what he LOVES: professional photography and video. Frank has an inspirational success story and he shares his secrets for starting a professional photography and videography business with YOU.
In this podcast, Frank teaches you to become a PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER or a VIDEO PROFESSIONAL from SCRATCH. No school, just RUclips videos, passion, hard work, and networking skills! Наука
What I noticed in this is that Frank let’s you finish before he answers a question. Doesn’t jump in to soon and make assumptions about what you’re saying. It’s not a hurried conversation. These are simple things any of us can use to make people feel valued-and it seems genuine here with Frank.
Hi Mr Twister, thanks so much, I appreciate the kind words!
Twister - TOO soon
I'm his Dad- he had his own apartment here. He was bit by the bug. Tony and Chelsea- you guy's do a great job. Thanks for helping Frank out.
Frank helps us so much! He’s the best
Thanks dad!!
Valid point! It was quite an accomplishment to buy a house during the pandemic, too!
Andy Tachibana - guys
Wholesome
This guy worked really hard to get where he is, he deserves all his success. You make your own luck. And his images are great.
Hi, thank you so much!
What an amazing story, and to be honest, incredibly inspiring! I have always had photography and videography as a hobby to include a Dji drone platform. Have always wanted to take it to the next level and my R5 just arrived so here we go. Thanks T&C for all the great content!
Thanks Wade!
Great video!!! Your story Frank is very inspiring! I'm still working the two job thing and getting closer and closer to a full time photographer. I been wanting to get my drone license for a while now and I do see how that skill is very valuable and great to have right now.
I love it when i hear a growth and transition story in photography. Thanks for the share From Nairobi, Kenya.
Thank you!
OH MY GOODNESS! I met Frank a couple weeks ago! He and his client Middlesex Tree hired me for a RUclips strategy consultation call! I kept praising him over and over again and told the owner not to let Frank go because he's AMAZING at creating videos and telling stories. He's an awesome creative person. So glad you interviewed and highlighted him on your channel. 😁@FrankDiNardi keep it up!
What’s up man!! Wow small world right! Can’t believe you saw this video!
Absolutely an amazing video. Keep sharing these success stories. Frank, may you have an amazing carrier and all of you and your families, may you have an amazing holiday season and the new year far exceed your expectations.
Hey Richard thank you very much. Thanks for watching and commenting. Have a great Christmas!
What an inspiring story and helpful insight. Thanks.
The fact that he manages to take 3 days off per week is amazing! I'm a full-time professional and time management is the hardest thing; I work so many hours, much more than when I was an employee. The thing though is I like my job, so those hours are not a pain in the ass!
Excellent points on business strategy - great to finally "meet" you Frank!
Thanks Chris!!
This is a great video!!!
Be assured. The future of Professional photography is bright. My fears a few years back were that the spectacular image capabilities of iPhone cameras would cut into photography as a trade if not as art.
How can I feel sure now that this will likely not happen?
Later this week as Im reaching over to grab my Guild jumbo guitar on stage in front of an audience and perform for prob 3 hours, I'll be thinking about all the people out in the crowd who have very nice guitars too (perhaps even a crazy expensive professional quality instrument like mine). That's the difference. It's not about the gear. It's about talent.
great video, after a few minutes of the video i understood why Frank has done well for himself, his people skills developed over the years have given him the ability to to connect through business and media along with personnel clients, as my old sales MGR use to say never be afraid to ask for the sale and he did his preparation over the years before taking the leap of faith from one career to the new one, and one of the most personable people i have seen on youtube in the photography/videography field, no doubt he'll continue to do well ,i to have learned allot from you two from your videos, thank you again 👍
Hey Bob thank you very much! Yes never be afraid to ask for the sale!
Great insights from Frank with how he got started. It's really inspiring to know that there's demand for photo and video work where people might not think about it.
Thanks so much Brian!
wonderful video, this is a new format for the both of you (and Frank), perfect in every way...thank you
Running a photography business has little to do with taking photos. How so? It’s like any business you need to understand advertising, marketing, accounting, insurance, tax, contracts, equipment, financial planning etc. I recommend to folks starting a business full time that you have funds for 12 months for your expenses. There are plenty of resources on line to put together a business plan.
People don’t plan to fail, they fail to plan. Good luck to any one going for it.
Don't forget he did this during the middle of a full blown pandemic. Many of my peers did not survive or weren't able to adapt. Good to hear he succeeded.
That is true, I didn’t add that in but yes I did! I got pretty lucky to get enough business
@@FrankDiNardi You're too humble! Definitely more to it than just luck I am sure! Following your channel and good luck.
Chelsea, Tony and Frank, I love this video! I’m an enthusiast and I’m contemplating some form of photography work when I retire from education in a few years. This was very informative and motivating. Please post more of these 😎
Thanks so much Frank!
What an inspiring person and story, thank you Frank for being so authentic and honest about your journey you make it seem achievable and reachable and it is so encouraging! Tony and Chelsea I have and continue to learn so much from you thank you!
Thanks for sharing your experience @Frank DiNardi. Very inspiring!
Thanks Yamen!
Really great video guys. What an awesome guy. I wish him a huge success in the future and hopefully he'll come back on and tell us how he's getting on
Hi Terry! Thanks very much for the kind words, I appreciate it.
So refreshing to see passion and practical application of that passion. Bravo!
Kudos to Frank
Kudos to you John for watching and taking the time to comment!
Really fun and interesting video. His personality and demeaner are definitely his biggest "business" asset. Once in a while I think about ways I could turn my hobby into a way to make money, and if I lived in the same town as this guy I would seriously consider being one of his part-time employees.
Hey Bill thanks so much for the kind words, really appreciate it! I hope you are able to turn your hobby into some money making soon
This is a cool story.
Thanks shawn!
@@FrankDiNardi Anytime! I'm in tech like Tony is and thought of jumping. But I have to many passions lol
What a great guy....loved his work.
Thanks a lot sam!
Great video and a better story. It just flowed.😀👍
Thank you Lynn!
Tony @ 20:11 🤣🤣🤣
Hard work pays off! Well done!
Thanks jack!!
Now I just need to find a boat to sink
Wow! Love Frank! I thoroughly enjoyed listening to him.
Hi TC. Thanks for taking the time to watch!
Thank you Tony and Chelsea for inviting Frank to share his story. Just like Frank, I learned a lot from you, including building my YT channel. If you are guys and /or Frank in Hartford area, would love to connect over a coffee. You do great work.
Hey man thank you so much!
Frank’s the best! Awesome man.
Hey Chris, thank for watching and commenting!
Wow, that drone footage that was flown low through that property looked fast and scary to fly. Did you have to practice that route? It looked really cool
Hi James, yes I did a trial run. I knew where I wanted to go and I know the property well. It took me a couple times to get it right!
Question for Frank: I've been shooting for like 12 years and trying so hard to go full time but it's just not working for me. What am I doing wrong?
Hey Jo Jo. I would just tell you to never give up. It was a huge dream of mine and I wouldn’t give up on anything. If you’re not getting enough work I can’t tell you how important is to just randomly sent blind emails to Company’s to try to get some work. Even in my stage of the game I still do that. Also for my social media posts for instance with golf course work, I always tag other golf courses in those posts trying to drum up some work. You’ve simply just got to get your name known. Try to get in with a real estate agent no matter what you do always be courteous, always get people their contact back as fast as possible and if they don’t like some thing or need adjustments cater to their needs.
Great story! Actually, a little similar to my own. Only I still work full time. And while building my photography portfolio, my fees have been minimal. (mostly for my friends/co-workers). Inspiring story for the next level.
Steve that’s great, keep it up man!
I’m in the same exact boat. I’m still working on my impostor syndrome. Bec i know in my heart that i give my 100% but i know there’s a lot for me to still learn but it’s undeniable that my skills are growing
@@mcmc-o9w You're not an impostor. Keep at it. We all are learning and working on new ways to be creative. I'm only 2 years in. Even my best shots I later feel I could have done better. Keep Giving 100%.
Great story Frank, congrats on turning a hobby/passion into a business.
Thanks so much!
With a child on the way and a passion for what you guys do i am truly inspired by Frank. One thing I've taken from this great story is that practice is everything. Working 12 hours is one thing but, spending personal time practicing and learning is important. "I wanna be Frank!" "Oh Captain, my Captain!" You're the man Frank.
Thank you.
To me, photography will always be a hobby, much more enjoyable that way. Wouldn't mind making a bit of extra cash from it , but no, not as a full time job.
That's fine too! I think amateur photography is an even more pure form of the art. Certainly going pro adds many not-so-fun aspects to it, like creating photos and videos that the client loves (but maybe you don't). I do some of both, and I definitely still have fun just shooting as an amateur. However, going pro does mean you can dedicate far more time to the art, and you can justify more of that expensive gear.
Just because your photographing as a hobby doesn’t mean you are not a professional photographer.
I feel the same way. I don’t find it enjoyable when I have to shoot, edit and deliver to a deadline, or doing it to be saleable rather than how I like it. I did it a few times (for friends or to justify my gear spendings) but it wasn’t for me. It made me appreciate people that can do it and do it well more.
Great story; expertise from persistent practice, persistence from passion.
Thank you Steven!
My wife wants to get into food photography (her own food/cakes). She's currently doing it only using her iphone and posts on Instagram. Can you give any advice on how to elevate her pictures?
Hi there, you can take really nice pictures on your iPhone if you’ve got the right light. Not sure if you’re using any kind of light but set up a soft box. Or even just a little light you can hold in your other hand as you are taking the photo. Definitely use apps such as Lightroom to edit your photos as well. Try not to have too much in the background, with an iPhone typically you’re dealing with a wider shot so make sure there’s no clutter behind you. Also if you have a newer iPhone make sure you use the macro lens, close up food shots like that are always interesting and beautiful!
@@FrankDiNardi Thank you for the tips. I'll let her know. She's currently looking into buying some backdrops as well.
@@Antonis24 yes those are great too!
a very inspiring person
Thank you very much, thanks for watching.
Wow this is what we need help getting started we all love photography. I have so much $$ invested and have never made any money back.
Hi
Hey
I wish to become a pro, probably portrait photography. I don't have the confidence yet though. I feel adding a few more pieces of gear to my collection could get me there though.
Get yourself out there, start writing some company’s, do some free work! I bet your images are better then most
More like this please
0:27 EPIC ! Cute Baby ! :-D
Thank you Seajay!!
I love photographing wildlife, I hope to someday be a professional wildlife photographer.
Go get it Heidi!
Is it just me or were you shooting this video at F1.4 - F 2? The depth of field was really narrow. Frank was the most in focus and Chelsea was the most out of focus. Frank is very inspirational and his drone work is very cool!
nice to learn from someone who's not try to selling course to me...
Channel is a shameless ad
I chose a pretty decent drone from this channel. It’s already paid off from one “referral”listing
The baby has her Dad's eyes.
Thanks boltman!
@@FrankDiNardi 😊
Thanks for sharing Frank’s story! It makes me want to get back into freelancing. (‘This editing is terrible!’ 😂😂)
Huey Brian thank you very much, get back to it!
Getty Images has told workshop leader Don Smith that most of their sales now are video clips.
"You lived with your dad!" I guess he like that when he heard it. LOL
Sure did!
How much of your work relies on the use of social media, either in terms of getting your name out, or in terms of what clients want? I ask as someone who utterly loathes social media and so does not use it at all.
Emasculating??? That's sexist, Chelsea!
15 minutes and only thing wakes me up is when he said BIG BLACK ...
That kind of drone skills, must be a gamer
Used to play Nintendo when I was a kid, lots of Zelda, but mostly sports!
This guy is proof that gratitude can take you far.
Hi Malcolm, thank you very much for the kind words I really appreciate it!
I don’t think I’ll ever be a pro photographer unless I work with one
Q: How did you do it?
A: Well, I owe a lot of it to white privilege.
Chelsea is out of focus in this video. She is always out of focus. Why is she out of focus?
I sat differently when Tony focused the cameras
How cute is this!! The secret to success = Promo-SM !!
