On that Touch It remix with Papoose, Missy, Busta, Loyd Banks, And Remy Ma- what a lot of ppl don't know is that they called Em at the last minute after the award show realized that DMX was arrested and wouldn't be there to do his verse. Eminem was asked to perform and prepare a verse either that day or the day b4-cant remember which.

And Em definitely the GOAT of GOATs- and I base that decision off of his delivery on each verse he's done on tracks with the other goats. He always outshines and has the better verse, he always has the stand out verse. He always seems to be the best of the best.

My 15 yr old daughters fav rapper is Em. But, mostly old stuff & she's doesn't really like other rap. Except for old ish, i play her. Loves Outkast, Snoop etc. But, doesn't like any of the modern style mumble rap. She's a 15 yr old girl. Into Grande & Olivia Rodriguez... plus a lot of the 90's stuff cause that's what my wife always has playing in the car with her.
But, she had 5 Em tracks memorized by tge time she was 10. (Clean versions, or select tracks that weren't too vulgar for her at that age.. lol)
Em became my fave around 24, after mmlp, and still is at 45. But, I was major hip hop head since 10-12 yrs old. Before Em dropped, at that time Wu Tang was my Fave . I don't care if it was a group. Lol. Also, DMX, Busta, Redman, Outkast, Jada & Lox, Juvenile (was my club days. Lol...). Just saying who I was mainly bumbin right b4 Em hit my radar. Liked sslp, but mmlp solidified it & then tes & 8mile soundtrack def confirmed more so.
Never felt Jay like that. Sry.. was always a nas fan.
Being close in age & going thru similar 20 yr old ish, thru the dark times & getting thru it, always was able to relate & also the skills, charisma, humor etc. Had total package imo & took his on own lane.

The term ‘i Stan for’… literally came from his song .There’s youngsters out there that use the term that have no idea where it came from. His contribution to music, to hip hop and even to society goes way beyond an average rapper.
He’s the most versatile rapper in the game. From story telling to horrorcore to boom bap to humour to the shock value to battling he has switched between all styles and back again seamlessly.
He can switch and throw his voice to be funny then project it to be an angry monster right on the next track.
He’s global. He can sell out stadiums in any country on the planet even now at 48 years old and been doing that since the Marshall Mathers LP.
His production also also criminally underrated.
He’s an absolute student of hip hop and gives nothing but respect to his peers and the people the come before him.
There may be a disconnect between certain fans of hip hop because he’s not black and that’s fair enough. They don’t relate to him. I can’t relate an ounce of my soul to lil nas x, tekashi 69, lil pump or any of those types of artists and I can’t respect their craft so I understand Em’s music ain’t for everyone.
However, for his skill level, longevity, his impact, his accomplishments and for the fact white rappers were a god dam running joke before he came along if he ain’t the goat he Absolutely belongs right in the conversation.
This man broke down racial barriers in hip hop and opened the door for alot of people including both artist and fans. He deserves his flowers now whether goat or not.

    • @grogu411
      @grogu411 3 года назад +5

I’d have to agree just for the fact that he does have the whole package. There are rappers out there who can write amazing songs on par with Eminem but they don’t have a great rap voice or the best flow. Eminem has a special quality about him when it come to music. If I’m being honest there are rappers out there who make more relatable music but they lack in categories that would otherwise put them on Eminem’s level. Trust me I criticize Eminem a lot but I’m not gonna act like he isn’t one of or the the best rappers to ever touch a mic. The man deserves his credit no matter if you like his music or not and no matter his skin color. Skin color should not matter in any conversation no matter the subject. Skill is skill. Period.

    • @VladimirMizich
      @VladimirMizich 3 года назад +5

Even if you take away all the tags you mentioned and just look at rap writing, Eminem is the lyrical GOAT - just in that one category. Sometimes I wonder how his body of work managed to get so popular WORLDWIDE, because his writing is very complex - not easy - and people usually prefer simplicity. How are millions over millions of people able to appreciate complexity, when I'm sure there's no way they understand it. Am I giving humanity too little credit? Do all Eminem fans catch all the doubles, tripples, all sorts of lyrical devices, flow switches, pockets, etc. There's no way. Most listeners only listen to Eminem's music superficially. Again, and yet Eminem's music is insanely popular. It's so interesting. Maybe complexity is just inspiring and motivating, so people are subconsciously drawn to it, even when they don't understand it? I don't know. Em is the GOAT for sure though.

I'm not a hater at all but Eminem quality of just music is average at best. His lyrical skill is top level for sure. But for the most part of his career the music as a whole has been average in my opinion. Especially in the latter of his career. I think his last big hit song was about 9 or 10 years ago. His name has stayed relevant but his music hasn't kept up to his name at all. Young Eminem had quality music. But that was in the early 2000s. Me personally I think the quality of music and your discography should be the most important category in the Goat conversation. To call him the GOAT is going wayýyyyyy too far. Often a flow is part of a rapper’s signature.
For example : only 2pac said “believe me” as “belieeeeeeev me”.
And i bet lots of you can guess the rapper by it’s flow.
But ask yourself… what is Em’s signature flow…?
I took this question to bed and woke up without an answer.
He can switch between flows like flickin’ the lights on and off, he can take someones style and kill ‘m with it…
He can tell a story in his tracks in a way that you can see before your eyes what he is saying.
But You’re right, Stevie…. A big part of this conversation is subjective. Being able to relate to content is not to be ignored, but Em had Fire tracks which should never relate to any sane human being.
At the end of the day, this conversation will never reach any consensus, but the reasons to back up what people prefer, often have nothing to do with the science..

He's always had different sounds, concepts, flows, cadences etc.
He's not wanting to sound like old Em. Each Album or every other album or period he reinvents or tries to hone his skills & add more to his tool bag.
Where so many greats, find their lane and stay there, cause it worked for them. No hate for it.
But, gotta respect him always trying to do something different & putting himself out there considering he had nothing to prove.
Love of the game & deserves respect just for that.

Let’s face it, as soon as it became obvious that staggering sums of money could be made, the rhythm complexity in Country music changed, lyric structure was influenced, rap features became somewhat commonplace, etc… It would be difficult to find a writer who hasn’t flirted with basic bar writing, as a method of conveying multiple messages within a limited time. It’s just economical. And Marshall made it “legal.”

I listen to a spectrum of rap and can honestly say that if Em was Black he wouldn't have sold what he has sold but if Em was Black there would be no question as to whether he's the GOAT. An entire industry of reactions and lyric breakdowns have been built on this man. If it was about him being white, why have the other white rappers not been revered in the same way?
A common knockback people make is his discography. Let's address this. Keep it real: if another rapper released his worst they would be critically acclaimed and highly rated. If this was measured on albums Kanye or Dre could be the GOATs but they're nowhere near. This boy has 3 classics. Albums is one variable, but not the only one.
If you want to move past his albums and what he has sold, let's talk impact. Eminem was one of those who made it fashionable to be hyper lyrical and introspective in the mainstream.
Eminem is different. No rapper has beat him on a track. A few have drawn or equalled him but he's not been beaten. How many other rappers can say that?
Eminem at the start of his career was about making albums and rewriting hiphop and shedding the battle rapper label. The Eminem of now is ultra competitive and is about doing what other rappers can't do. He wants to outdo every one. The battle rapper has gone back to being a battle rapper.
What sealed the deal for me is his love for the culture. My favourite song in his discography is untouchable. Not because it does anything new but it for me is a testament to his understanding of the Black experience. He spoke on our experience and did what most Black rappers don't even do. He used his platform and privilege to attack racism and privilege to which he is a part of.
Jay Z is the fashionable answer, the heart's answer. If you don't lie to yourself and look past the weird content he has had at times Eminem is the GOAT. It just isn't fashionable to say it.
It would take this dude to pass away for HipHop to give him his flowers

    1. Technical ability - flows, rhyme schemes, punchlines, etc
    2. Storytelling - every GOAT rapper needs to know how to tell a story imo
    3. Freestyle / Rap Battle skills - for a rapper to be considered the GOAT he needs to be able to body rappers
    4. Impact - be it sales or cultural impact without numbers

The fact that an Eminem album drop RUMOR alone will shut down the internet for weeks. People will go into a FRENZY when they hear a simple RUMOR about him dropping. You can kind of compare it to like, Get a drug addict in a room with a bunch of containers and tell them that heir next fix is in one of them" and watch them go crazy trying to get to it. Eminem is the ONLY rapper that causes that kind of "feeding frenzy" from a simple RUMOR of an album drop.
