Apparently, the old couple allowed a hitman hired by a loanshark into their home, who tried to murder the husband that morning. However, the husband had a thick, wet towel over his head, so the impact of the butcher knife simply knocked him out, rather than cut into his skull. The wife wasn't as fortunate, with numerous deep cuts on her arms and face. Fortunately, both of them survived. My front porch, however, was slathered in blood.
