I think the father and son relationship in this movie is made more gripping by the fact he experiences his fathers funeral then gets to go back and talk to him about it. He gets to grieve the loss of his father with his father there to support him. There's something tragic and beautiful about that.
I was being depressed at life last night at 2 am got nobody to talks to and i remember this movie exists and i just burst out to tears and begin to believe in life again
The climax when he let his father win and then it dawns him that it will be that last time he will see his son and his father just ask for a long walk and having a good time with his son. I just teared up anytime I see that this movie is so so so good
Makes me cry every time cause of the relationship between the father and son cause I lost my dad at 27 just as my son was born and it hit me emotionally making me remember the times I had with my dad and the missed time that he wouldn’t get to see his only grandson
I grew up with a cold and emotionally distant father. The relationship between Tim and his father is so opposite of that, so beautiful and powerful it makes me weep with longing. What I wouldn’t give to have something like that with my own dad.
The emotions that pour out of this film are mad...It makes me feel happy, sad, exited and depressed all at once...Honestly a super well done piece of work that leaves you thinking about all sorts.
This is my favourite movie of all time. The family, the love, the importance of spending quality time with your loved ones, making the wise decisions , choosing someone kind , cherishing little moments of life it is a wonderful movie ❤
This movie hits diffrent, if you lost one (or both) of your parents! Still wished i could have watched it with my Mum. F***in lungcancer... One of my all time favourite movies, for sure!
Don’t we all want or lives to be like this and have a wonderful family home and parents we can run too when life gets a bit rough , I just love Richard Curtis. Films , and if he eve4 reads this, message me I’ve got a real life story like you would not believe .😀
Richard ... at 64, while you have made the film that will be incredibly hard to best, you need to push your envelope! You're incredibly creative and if you stop now you'll be so BORED! What else would you do?
This movie ruins itself in the last new minutes. He has a power many of us wish we could have as well. But, in the last 2-3 minutes he gives a speech to the audience that he no longer time travels and just enjoys each moment as it comes. We're supposed to feel "awe, wisdom". Except he got to this nice situation he's in with the wife of his dreams precisely because he had these powers. If he didn't have them he'd not be in his idyllic marriage we see him in as he gives this speech. That is such a spit in the face right at the end that hey, I used my powers to get my perfect relationship but you should just be happy with what you have. That's like a rich person telling a poor person money isn't everything. Sure, it's not, but if you're rich telling a poor person she doesn't need money try going without. In the end we get a rage inducing lecture from a person of privilege telling us to ignore the privilege.
Actually.. If you paid attention. Tim really only changed minor things with his time travel, whenever he tried to change something major, something major which is bad happens too! He was supposed to meet mary even without his powers, he already had her number and they were probably going to meet again. But he decided to help Harry out which resulted in her not meeting Tim. If he didn't have time travel, most major things in his life would still happen, he was still suppose to be a lawyer, meet mary, have kids, time traveling only changed minor things like.. pouring the sunscreen on charlotte, spilling the drinks in the party etc.

i can 100 percent agree with you on that man...
I love this movie, I loved every bond but father and son relationship got me the most
sure but i don't have a good relationship with my father so i thought it was more sad when he came back and his kid wasn't the same kid as before
@@Kristcornejo big oof, very sad
@@Kristcornejo thank you, same, it's very rare meeting nice people on the internet these days xD
My all time favourite film. The story, acting, actors, music ... thank you Richard and all involved ... THANK YOU!
Mine too! Its the perfect movie about the beautiful, but also the sad parts of life. Good to see someone else lists it as their favorite film too!

When u have Bill Nighy in a movie, it’s an automatically epic movie!
Don't remember last time I've seen a video with no dislikes nice

Spoke too soon!
One of my favorite movies!!! Such an amazing story about life and living in every moment.
It is a movie about life! It is at the same level for me as La vite e bella)
This has become my favorite movie of all time. I have fallen in love with his character❤
I believe Four Weddings is his best film. I know he didn’t direct it, but still. However About Time is my favorite. It’s a truly wonderful film.
The LOOK that Lindsay Duncan, playing the mother, gives the father (Bill Nighy) at 2:54 as he breaks into Dad-dance, which has immediate effect . . .
To quote Rachel: 'I agree with you completly!' His shamefull look downwards after it cracks me up every time ^^
One of the best movie. This video bring nicely some insight. Much appreciated, thank you.
Beautiful film
am i the only one who doesn't remember this Ben Folds song in the movie? I loved all the music in this film but i can't seem to remember this one.

it's definitely not a comedy
it's.... romantic. yet, funny parts exist at times, on several levels.
Rachel McAdams loves men who can manipulate time
