    Up here in Vancouver Canada, we have lots of people driving JDM cars, in Canada we can import 15 year old Japanese cars. Skylines, Evos, Sti, RX7s, Supras. It is very common for people to use a quarter can of boostane per tank. It turns pump 94 into 97. Its cheap too. 60 litres of 94 octane will cost me almost $120, so an extra $10-$15 for boostane per tank is pretty small. Far better option than the people that get their JDM cars detuned to run on Canadian gas.

    I use it to effectively turn 93 into 98 during the hot summer weather, on my Volkswagen 1.8t with a 1.3 93 octane tune. I don't need it in cold weather

    MTBE, NITROMETHANE or DIMETHYLCARBINATE are used to oxygenate the fuel.
    To increase the Octane number, MMT or FERROCENE is used together with a halogenated hydrocarbon to avoid the formation of metal residues in the combustion chamber.

      Why? Try one level, if you get any KR. Increase the amount. Most new performance cars will keep making power (untuned) to about 105 octane.

    Something worth considering is that a return less system picks up its fuel from inside the fuel pump bucket and slows down mixing time considerably.Return style systems are better but still allow time for it to mix thoroughly. Put your octane boost in before you head to the track for safety sake. Consider just running meth if your strapped to 91 or 93 which in most cases is just crap.

  • @zzzzzsleeping
    @zzzzzsleeping 6 лет назад +1

    So basically, the ecu adjusted the timing to gain more power because of the aggressiveness of the fuel composition.
    There is no mystery then. Using 93 octane vs 97/100 octane both has its own composition characteristics.
    Now, it's all about the value. 93 octane affordable and to add a few quarts of $26.00 boostane in 16 gallons of tank is not realistic or not cost effective for ordinary or majority of the people.
    YOU GOT THAT BOOSTANE?
    A can of BOOSTANE is like a cost of gold.

    • @dj4monie
      @dj4monie 5 лет назад

      No reason to use it all the time. If you don't race then don't use it. Water-Methanol over the long term is a better investment and higher power gains. Turbocharged cars that don't have turbos too small for real gains will see huge gains over pump fuel.

    Are the HP and TQ numbers corrected? SAE or something? Because the Boostane test 1 was done 10F lower temp than the baseline. That's about 1% more HP by itself. Denser air will also make the A/F gone toward the lean side as well. And you don't show avg HP or TQ either.

    • @TheTuningSchool

      We have not seen or heard of any issues from daily use. However, we don’t use the product exactly in the way you described. If we have a race weekend will put it in all the cars, just a preventative measure against knock during the strenuous conditions of the road course. That's about as close as we get to daily use.

  • @brendavanorden9550
    @brendavanorden9550 5 лет назад +1

    They don't seem to answer questions. So let's ask a few more. the temp from one to the other is 10 degree's different. 93 to boostane. the IAT's have 5 plus as well. So what is better the timing or the IAT's.

    • @dj4monie
      @dj4monie 5 лет назад

      IAT are only impacted if there is knock because retarding the timing creates more heat in the cylinder which causes under hood temps to go up. It's Florida so ambients are going to be higher than mild later winter day in Ohio (high 50's). Water methanol is better for controlling IAT's.

      The results should still be very good! We use this product on naturally aspirated vehicles frequently. The big thing to remember is that this will help knock limited engines. That is to say, if you can make more power with more timing but knock is preventing you from adding that timing, then Octane Booster will help you get there. However adding timing will not always net you more power.

      Depends how much Toluene you use, because some many people you need a ton of it to make a fair octane number. Define race engines, because if you have aluminum heads, hot mechanical roller, etc and say 12:1 static CR, that isn't that aggressive and bumping 93 to say 96-97 octane is likely enough.

    Question if you're tuned at 94 pump Octane and you're traveling and you can't get anything better than 91 octane is that when boostane would be a good additive?

    • @dj4monie
      @dj4monie 5 лет назад

      What are you doing that requires 94 octane all the time? I don't know I actually race my car on a regular basis (two to three times a month) at the drag strip. For just an occasional blast down the highway I dunno if it's worth bothering with this just for flogging your car, you have to make that determination.

    Does this booster have MMT in it? If so over time it will coat the O2 wilts an orange to gold residue Could clog CATS long term as well

    • @dj4monie
      @dj4monie 5 лет назад

      MBTE, MMT in the quantities needed would need a much larger can...Has never clogged converters, been testing long term several times. MBTE was in California 92 before it was banned and ethanol used to bring 87 up to 91 (E10).

      TheTuningSchool, I sent them an email. How do you think BOOSTane compares to VP Q16?

    • @dj4monie
      @dj4monie 7 лет назад +2

      Just like anything else..Get down as far as you can in the fuel tank. Put in however much Boostane/Torco Accelerator to get the octane number you want + how much 93 or 91 you put in. Do the math first however. Bootane only sells it by the case online, there is a 10% coupon however. That would get you (6) 5 gallon jugs of 100 octane unleaded. Using half a can of Torco Accelerator will get you 10 gallons of 101 octane (91 octane base). Now with all that said a car with bolt-ons, NA and all that will likely run it's best on 100 octane unleaded with a tune, you won't be able to take advantage of much more octane. My car is turbocharged (Focus ST), pushing the stock turbo to the edge of the efficiency + running some timing for added power, get as much octane as you can get. As you see with the Z06 which is super charged, there is no such thing as too much octane.

    • @dj4monie
      @dj4monie 6 лет назад

      Basically the same stuff I use VP Octanium because it's at Auto Zone. Little less aggressive, 32 oz to 10 gallons of 91 octane will give you 99 octane. 64 oz to 10 gallons will give you about 102. If you put it in 5 gallon jugs as they suggest you can get over 100 octane on single 32 oz can. 5 gallon can of VP 101 cost me $68 dollars. For that I can do 5 gallons with VP Octanium and 100-101 octane for $30 less ($38).

      Presuming your car is stock and you are already using at least the recommended 91 octane, you probably won't notice any improvement just from pouring an octane booster in the tank. However, if you have your car's ECU tuned to run on a higher octane fuel, you may see an improvement. If you want to know for sure buy a can and give it a try.

      Octane Boosters helps to knock limited engines run more timing, allowing them to make more power. Not tuning for the Octane Booster usually will not net you more power unless you are already having severe knock retard on the stock tune.

    So do you have to tune when you are using Boostane?

    • @dj4monie
      @dj4monie 5 лет назад

      You don't HAVE too. I've seen it tested without tuning and gains are significant. (15-20 hp). It depends if your car has adaptives built-in. Boosted cars from the factory tend to. My Focus ST has octane adaptives stock, it will increase power based on Octane. Basically any reading higher than I think .9 in octane is max timing.
