If you notice Mr. Hu's assistant also had his own papers covered, as many at the table did. Only Xi's papers were open. To me it looks like Hu wanted to read the papers, but it was not the time, and his assistant was explaining that. Also Mr. Hu's actions, look and walk, are similar to Mr. Biden. Perhaps he was having a moment of confusion and it was best to remove him from the area. The others, appear to accept this. Perhaps it has happened many times before and at such an important occasion it was not the time for a senior official to be unable to follow along with the program planned.

My take is the explanation from Xin Hua News agency is probably the truth. For first, Mr. Hu was an ex-President and even if he had any disagreement with any issues, he wouldn't have pushed it in that VIP meeting as this is just the CCP culture. 2nd, If really President Xi had pre-planned such a "departure", he would have gained more loss, and the reason being is, again in Chinese culture, being respectful to an elder is extremely important and the whole of China is watching. Hence, it is extremely unlikely the act was pre-planned. Finally, Mr. Hu's demonstration of refusal to leave the meeting was most likely due to his commitment and determination. That historic meeting has a significant meaning to the senior members of the CCP and to walk out before the meeting ends may have a lasting psychological effect, typically on a man who was the ex-President.

Especially if Xi had planned to have him forced out. Those displays are not done in public, and especially at such a great event of Xi's re-election. I believe this was an unanticipated, and perhaps not the first, disorientation of Mr. Hu as he tried to say goodbye to Xi and his associate.

This is about power and how those with it hold on to it. There are millions on this planet who have a desire to rule over others without any accountability to anyone .
